I know there are a few aspiring actors on this page (all of us with the dream of working for Joss on a show that DOESN'T get canceled....). I was talking to a talent agency today here in Salt Lake City, and I was curious if any of you had any experience with the acting classes that these kind of places do. They want $2,000 for it.

What kind of |talent agency" is it? Do they require that you attend their classes?

I used to model when younger, I never had to pay an agency anything. The ones that wanted money were in it for the money and didn't produce much opportunity. I would say save your money for actual acting classes and look for an agent that doesn't require money from you. (Obviously you will have to pay for your own head shots and such)

Well, they didn't say specifically that I had to pay for their classes, but they didn't offer anything else for me. It's actually the agency that did the casting for Napoleon Dynamite, as well as a lot of extras for Disney and whatever else gets shot out on the Great Salt Lake of the salt flats.

My concern is that I'm already sinking a bunch of money into college. And acting isn't my first love anyway. I prefer to write.

Keep a look out in the paper for "extras needed". We have movies filming here all the time and it is a great way to pick up a little extra money.
