The National Public Radio program "All Things Considered" interviewed Frank Oz, director of the new movie "Death At a Funeral". Alan Tudyk is a featured actor, and he gets praise from Oz in the interview.

You can listen here:

The comments about Alan come at about the 3:20 mark of the audio. Alan's character is named Simon, oddly enough.

And yes, Frank Oz is the same fellow who came to fame via his work with Jim Henson and the Muppets.

Oh, DonCoat, you beat me here to post that.(time zone? heh) The Simon name cracked me up. Also, did you notice Oz's description of Alan being "rigorous" about his performance, which is far different from the "working in essences" he seems to have done for TV in Firefly?

Frank's praises actually come at around 4:20, not 3:20. Great interview though!

I only caught the tail end of this interview on the radio. Thanks for posting the whole thing.

I want to see that movie sooooo badly. Alan does great comedy. I'm also a big fan of Frank Oz (not just for the muppets), I'm glad he thinks highly of Alan. It might mean oportunities.

Mal: Yeah, well I'm known for that.

Hmm, that's odd. My player showed 3:20, give or take a few seconds. I wonder if the clip was changed since I played it, or if one of our players has its timing display really messed up.

I thought it was pretty funny when Oz complained (a bit) about people (especially interviewers) who still think of him only as Miss Piggy or Yoda. Hey, he's hardly the first to be stereotyped. Does anybody think that Ron Howard's obituary will not refer to "Little Opie"?

Though he is right in that he shouldn't be thought of as "Yoda" or "Miss Piggie", I still can't resist the thought of Yoda saying -
"Excellent actor, Alan is."

Death at a Funeral is a great movie, however you look at it.
