You know what the first rule of flyin' is? Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take a boat in the air that you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of worlds. And love keeps her in the air when she oughtta fall down… tells ya she's hurtin' 'fore she keels… makes her a home.

The only reason I'd be counting spiders is if I was outside the room ,screaming in terror and trying to convey the seriousness of the invasion to an exterminator

If there's enough to require counting I think it's enough to tell the exterminator it's SERIOUS.

We only have 20 minutes to come up with something to keep me awake through a meeting that will surely be boring. Must brainstorm faster!

Well...I think I'll use the idea but sadly put a work twist on it.

At the end of every work cycle we have a meeting to go over the things that went wrong and how we should do them better next time. I haven't been maintaining a list and I know stuff is going to start popping out the back of my head soon enough. So, I guess I could spend the meeting writing that stuff down so I don't forget.

How's that for a lame, responsible list game?

Neko...hurray Neko is well:) I understand about the start of school. Took some serious persuading ,I can tell you, to get my principal to sign off on me being gone for D*C and he wouldn't sign off on Thursday so I won't be there until Friday...at least, thanks to Jimi, I get to stay for the shindig:)

Penguin- oh I don't overmuch care as long as it looks decent as the purpose of the remodel is to make it easier to sell the house... but it'll be worth it as soon as we sell and move to a much larger house with a smaller price tag ( we live in the 3 priciest area in SLC)

How 'bout Top Five Pet Peeves of the Opposite Sex.

1. How many women does it take for one to go pee? Okay, limited more to the younger ones but I still see it here and there with the older ones.

2. Whining/crying/flirting to get in or out of something. Sure it is probably a primative method of persuasion but women folk who are mindful of it just seem so wrong.

3. Label whoreage. Seems more prevelant in women than men. But honestly they are right more often than not with alot of things.

4. Insane amount of memory. I feel like an old DOS 'puter in comparison to the female mind. I can't make recall specific incidents where I've been treated crappy in the last week or two. I just know it happened. Sucks having no evidence.

5. Period. There is so much pressure associated with it. Not that I have any first hand knowledge but the collateral knowledge seems enough for most any guy. The dread of it starting, mood wise and no funtime and all. Or the dread of it not coming because of the funtime. But sometimes we sincerely wish it didn't come. Does that make any sense?

LOL NV- I love your list

In response

1- because once we get there we might need stuff we forgot to bring ( lipstick, tissue, pepper spray etc..)

2- well if you'd stop falling for it, we'd cut it out:)

3- Once you label it, you know where it goes ( ok I don't much care for it either, but I do it all the time without thinking)

4-It's because the minute you do something we run it over and over in our head thinking of why it makes us mad and why you did it and what we're going to do about it...then we tell our friends about it so they can do the same...so by the time it comes back up in an arguement, we've run over the details at least 15 times

5-Oh tell me you are not complaining about this.... you think YOU don't enjoy it??? LOL I will trade you any day... I would fill this with a vivid description, but you don't need that. Best comparable I can give you is severe food poisoning crossed with donating blood, and a migraine.

Well now that I've explained, is there anything else that confuses you?

Excellent Top 5 list NVG.

MsG, they were pet peeves, not really things he was confused about. I am sure you could put together a top 5 list of yours about men.

Top 5 Pet Peeves while driving:

1. Cell phone usage - should be self-explanatory

2. Driving with your hazard lights on in the rain and driving slowly in the left-hand lane to regulate traffic - causes more problems than helps

3. Not understanding relative velocity - if you are going to pull out in front of me, be willing to drive at least as fast as I am driving

4. Slowing down because you see a cop's lights flashing - quickest way to get yourself noticed

5. Motorcycles and people on bikes - they want equal respect and privledges without equal responsibility

Actually those are my peeves for a certain female. It sucks that I generlized so much, but I'm sure many have observed the same behavior in others.

Just a bundle of confuzlement right now. Seeing what I want as unattainable at the moment.

But aren't the things we want seemingly unattainable at the onset of our self fulfilling missions? Or is it just me?

Just a bit sensaTIVE RIGHT NOW (WIPES BEGINNING OF A TEAR). Kidding.

So yeah, sports are boring unless you're playing. I get all bent out of shape inside when I see the proximity acknowledgement by strangers in public. I happen to come from a society where touch has it's place. Touching between strangers is not taboo. It's war. Dancing is fun and shouldn't be limited to drunken outtings. Been wanting to learn and seems to have to proper motivation/motivator (envies and praises Jimi for bein' of the larger sort and having the ability to cut some freakin' rug).
What? Can't eat a huge mashed potato with a two pound steak?
You're such a girl.
Kinda torn on the toilet humor though. But then again I get to accidentally overhear serious discussions by females that would make many ordianary men cringe/run/blush. Toilet humor just seems like a waste of breath after hearing some of the stuff stated by the other team.

Dangit. Really hankerin' for a taco salad and a big glass of unsweetened ie tea. Might have to treat myself today.

MsG you should be able to read your own list and figure out why guys don't like dancing.

We like sports. Sports are competitive. Recreational dancing isn't competitive. You also say we're not allowed to touch strangers. Well if we can't touch you then what incentive is there to dance with you?

Go to an arcade and watch how many guys will play DDR. That's because they're getting a score and they can beat someone else at it.

So either come up with some sort of scoring thing or let us grope and we'll start to be more interested in dancing :-P

Yours all make sense too MsG, and only one that I am really guilty of, that being my semi-obsession with NCAA football from September to December each year. Gotta watch my team, and I like seeing how things play out on a national level (and what percentage of the top teams are from the South, etc).

Yeah but see that's why a touchdown in football is right in front of a big cheering crowd and not scored by confidential letter to a players home. It just doesn't fill the competitive spirit if there is no public glory.

Oh no I don't mean touching while dancing Zeek...I mean the as you walk past a guy you don't even know reaches out and pats/grabs your ass...or the guy just reaching for elevator button, pencil, whatever and drags his arm across your chest...dancing well that's a choice. You must have asked me or I asked you if we're dancing and that means not a stranger- btw most women keep score on everything you do, does that help?

True glory flourishes in the hearts of men who no longer seek recognition of others but love for himself.

But tens of thousands of cheering fans has to come in a very close second.

So why the competition fellas? I kinda get the primative aspect to a point. Differing cultures I guess. For me competition lays in providing enough for family (or extended family as modern culture labels it) so that they might stay healthy and happy while striking a balance between neccessary and sustaining the future generations.

I was reading a summary that included the points of neccessity for the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA). Basically two columns. One column of Traditional Indian Values and the other under what was called All American Values. Points like: Clan/communal emphasis versus Individual emphasis, sharing versus winning, Harmony with nature versus conquest of nature, Appreciates/honors silence versus avoids silence. I just thought it interesting to find these points in such a summary. Even more interesting was the understanding stated in the differance between cultures. But more than that I am observing a shift in the cultures and the list of values written in the summary.

Just trying to make sense of stuff in my own way. Please excuse the rambling.

The real score is a private affair, and best not instantly gratified. If executed correctly, the score renders all competitiveness unremarkable and what glory there is shall be either in the moment, or the locker room the next day...

School starts in just 2 weeks. Tidbit is bored out of his gourd and getting into trouble at daycare. I can't wait for school to come back in session!

Everything else is about the same. What's going on here? Gosh, I miss you guys. My days aren't the same without this site minimized in the corner of my monitor.

edit: And the day is getting better. I just found out Tidbit was enrolled in our first choice for a swim class this Fall - the highly sought after Saturdays at 10:15 AM! w00t!!! Only 6 to a class, and I enrolled him first thing this AM.

Oh now Jonny sometimes friendly competition can be fun...as can a touch of public scoring now and then... or at least getting the game going before retiring to a private field.

You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take a boat in the air that you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of worlds. And love keeps her in the air when she oughtta fall down… tells ya she's hurtin' 'fore she keels… makes her a home.

I don't think you could've written anything else that would have touched me so much. Thanks, Joe.

I'm with you there, MsG. Just wanted to point out to the youngster that the real reward comes from within for the kind of score we're talking about. Winning is not necessarily the goal.
As for Kelkhil, Happy Belated Birthday, man! I'm sorry but I haven't been on much lately. (seems to be a lot of that going around. I mean this is day 5 for an Imponderable Cooler thread. What gives? Life sucks everywhere at once?) Anyway here's a news item about one of the guests who attended Kel's RL birthday bash: http://www.record-eagle.com/2007/aug/14hithotel.htm

Wow we miss all the fun...LOL

HUGS Jonny ok and on behalf of all women I feel compelled to point out ( it goes with our general conversation thoughts) there is no such thing as a 5 minute miracle....15 minutes minimum!! Sorry just thought as long as we were passing out relationship advice that that should be shared...

I feel your pain - when you were in summer school and I was at home, the ponders were extremely...testosterone laden. Not that that's a BAD thing, but there was a definite lack of estrogen in the air.

*sprinkles estrogen here and there*

Now you just gotta rope Rugbug into a few more appearances, and get DTH back in here.

Going home now. *hugs*
I have no idea what I'm going to cook for dinner...
