Has anyone else gone to see Alan's latest film? I thought the movie "Death at a Funeral" itself was mildly amusing, but Alan has a great role!

Our local Browncoats are watching it right now. I couldn't go so I'm anxiously awaiting their feedback. Another 30 minutes or so.
I'll get back to you.

There's also a short review on IMDb (I can't find it now!!!) where the reviewer says that he liked the movie but that he didn't know whether US audiences would go for it, being British and all. He further says that he thinks Firefly fans would be the key to unlocking it for US audiences because of them flocking to see Alan.

See, you guys are making a difference already!!

HI- Larious.. it was funny but Alan was the best thing in it.. he was hysterical!! if it weren't a comedy, he would be in the running for an Oscar.. great performance!

We have a LOT of multiplex screens in my town and "Death at a Funeral" is only playing at one small 'Art House' cinema. Apparently the people in charge of distribution don't think it will have mass appeal. I have seen commercials for it on television, so there is a marketing campaign...just not a lot of screens being devoted.

However, when I went to see the film Friday afternoon it was about 1/2 full house (for a matinee), so people are interested in seeing it. Hopefully it will open wider across the country in the next week or two.

Death at a Funeral was always slated for a limited release. Much the same way Waitress was distributed. You will probably only find it at art house theaters.
Frank Oz may have mass appeal because of his work with Jim Henson and on other movies. But a British comedy might be questionable for a larger American audience. There aren't any actors in it that your average American would know.
But we do !!!
The concensus from the Charlotte Browncoats is that Death at a Funeral is high-larious. And Alan is the comedic highlight in an already funny film.
The theater was pretty packed last night when they went for the opening. Hopefully it will stick around as long as Waitress did -- late May until just last week.

It got a real good review in Friday's L A Times, and they singled out Alan in particular.

It opened in 260 theaters nationwide and box office earnings were $1.28 million. That comes to about $5,000 per screen.
I'm suprised the numbers are so low. From people I talked to, the theaters were full when they went to see it.
Still haven't had my chance yet. Waiting patiently.
