On Ebert & Roeper this week they review 'Death At A Funeral' with our dear departed Wash, Alan Tudyk. The guest reviewer comes out with:
"...played by Alan "Two-dyke", never heard of him."
The guy is a movie reviewer and he never saw (or forgot about) 'Serenity'?
Or even 'Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story'.
What a yutz!
Roeper however said Alan was "good" by the way. He was also smart enough to like "Serenity" as I remember.

Politics is the showbiz of industry.

Yes, Serenity received two thumbs up from E&R -- including the actual Ebert (who was in better health at the time).

...not to mention "I, Robot" and "A Knight's Tale"!

Though its not a movie, anyone lucky enough to have caught him when he took over Sir Galahad etc. etc. and so forth when Hank Azaria left Spamalot is sure to know he's absolutely brilliant, and for those not lucky enogh to see him, a bootleg copy's on YouTube.

Can I just ask as an aside, Why is it that the Texans on Firefly do such good English accents? Summer and Alan both are quite capable, and as before mentioned, Texans.

Do you have a link for which Youtube clip? I saw the one of the Grail song on the Tony awards. Alan is in that, but are there others with him?

At a guess, it's because they've already learned one accent -- namely, the American standard Midwestern one. That's assuming they grew up speaking that twangy Texas drawl, y'all.

Learning any accent, even a neutral one, is good "ear training".

That's so uncool! Alan is a great actor--and he is been in a lot of movies! One of my favorite roles of his was in the Sandra Bulock movie 28 days--he plays this odd german fellow in rehab! Very amusing! And what about a Knights Tale with Heath Ledger? Where's the love?

Well, Alan was dissed yet again. EW reviewed "3:10 to Yuma" and not a mention of him.

He improvized that, did you know? Brilliant!

When I heard "Two-Dyke" I nearly did a spit-take.

The upshot there was one enthusiastic thumb up and the other one ditto down, saying the only good thing about it was that it was short, or some such.

The reviews I've read (lots of them) have been good, so one bad apple isn't going to do much.

Reminds me strongly of his improvization as Wash on all the things he likes about Zoe... "There's no place on that woman I wouldn't put my tongue."

The "critics" are nothing but frustrated actors.

You look at Alan's credits. It shows that the people who make the movies know he's a great character actor or they wouldn't be casting him. But, alas, the most talented character actors many times get overlooked.
