sinon is the name of a muslim architect who designed the famous Blue Mosque in Istanbul. He also built this other mosque, i forget it's name, but he built it for the king's daughter. Sinon was desperately in love with the princess, but because of their respective social statuses, they could never be together. now, her very own mosque was being built and she was asked how many of those prayer towers she wanted to have. she was the princess, she could have as many as she wanted. she told him to build her only one tower as a symbol of her loneliness.

now, i can't guarantee that this is exactly what they meant byt this, but if it is, the planet where the companions live is named after this story where lovers are separated from eachother by their social statuses. hmmmm, sound familiar?

Sinon is also the name of the Greek whose lies persuaded the Trojans to bring the horse filled with Greek soldiers inside the walls of the city, leading to Troy's destruction. Given that so many other worlds in the 'verse have Greek names, e.g. Hera, Persephone, I thought that this was the reference intended by naming that world Sinon.
