KNIBBLET

So, there I was innocently walking my dogs when my neighbor came home from work. He made a comment about it being so late that he was exhausted but so keyed up from the horrible long day that he knew he wouldn't sleep.

Being that I'm an evil convert maker, I asked ... "So, how does my very last beer and my favorite DVD sound to you?"

He came over, I put him in the huge recliner, placed the beer bottle in his hand, started "Serenity".

The first thing he said was "What's with the country music?" I said, "You'll soon think the music is brilliant. Just shut up and let it fill you."

Within moments of the theme song ending, all I heard from Michael were whimpers every time Inara came on screen and giggles every time something really good happened.

He said he's coming over every night until he's seen them all.

Shiny. Being a wicked convert maker is shiny.

"Just keep walkin, preacher man."

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

LOL @ Knibs.

So you took a poor, exhausted guy and indoctrinated him w/ "Serenity"? Good for you.

Maybe I should try the sleep depravation technique to wear down the resolve of some of my co-workers.

I could stand to learn a thing or two from you- pure genius. Well done, and keep up the good work.

That's great but... your last beer?

I hope he's a heckuva nieghbor, cause I'm not sure just one more convert is quite enough to justify that kind of sacrifice.

Is this the time to tell you that I have beer in the house for only two reasons. First is when my brother-in-law visits. The other is when we're having brats. You boil them in beer before putting them on the grill.

Before the child rights activists freak out ... brats as in bratwurst, not brats as in horrible spoiled children which *should* be boiled in beer before being put on a grill.

I was on the couch with my puppy, Skye, and a snifter of Disaronno

Your technique is marvelous.... I've got my latest convert coming over for more tonight... I'll have to use the sleep depravation/alcohol tactic on the next one. (This one brings his own beer.)

Oh my god. Somebody's from the midwest.

Yeah, I went to school right outside Chicago. Used to walk past Al Capone's house.

The more I get to know people the more I like my dogs.

I've lived in beautiful St. Paul, Minnesota for 14 years now.
St. Paul's history is ... checkered. Back in the 20's and 30's, the police chief was as crooked as 4 miles of bad road. He and his brother and all their cronies ran the town and no one got in their way.
Gangsters used to come to St. Paul to vacation. They paid protection to the Chief's brother and, as long as they committed no crime in the city limits of St. Paul, they were untouchable.
There's a great book called "St. Mudd" about St. Paul during this time period. I recommend it.
A friend of mine lives in an apartment building where Dillinger had a shoot-out with federal agents.
In my new book, I'm using that same building as a location in a modern day crime.

REPORION

For me converting people is no problem, being an engineering student in the "great white north" means all my wheather-induced, shut-in friends are now enjoying Firefly.
I'm just worried that they'll start a violent uprising once they find it was cancelled.
(but the snow should muffle the sound)
