AARODOR

Hi all, a few weeks ago a friend lent me a series called Firefly and a film called Serenity and said 'hey, try this, you will be suprised'.
Well I was suprised. This was one of the most enjoyable things I have seen for ages.
I sit here with the only thing to watch like reality tv shows such as lets put a phscho nutter in a house with a group of brain dead morons and lets see what happens, and every year it comes out new again, or lets try and find a singer, give them one record deal, then find another one. Get a life, i want entertainment.
At last I found it.
I just cant believe that it never got a better show time in the UK, It would have been huge.
If any of the networks ever look at sites like this - please get on with another series and play on prime time. You have a winner.
I dont normally go and look for web sites regarding things I watch nor leave comments but this time was different, and I couldnt believe that Im not alone.
I also found the series called Space, Above and Beyond. That too deserved another chance.
Lets get some decent entertainment back on the TV.
Sorry if i sound a nerd, but Firefly was a breath of fresh air - so please do another series.

Aarodor - by the content of your post and the fact that I don't recognize your handle (not that I know everybody's by any means), I'd say this is your first visit.

WELCOME!

I'm a fairly recent arrival myself...but there are folks here who have been laboring seemingly night and day to get Firefly and/or Serenity a future; read thru the various threads and the thousands of posts (as you likely have been doing) and you'll see what I mean.

Firefly was (and is) indeed something special in the air...and I only just discovered it last summer thru a good Browncoat friend loaning his series DVDs. I've thought first that perhaps the single best, most important thing about Firefly is that IT DOESN'T SUCK...like so much TV, as you point out. All of Firefly's/Serenity's other fine qualities are, in a way, just damn good-tasting icing in the cake.

I'm gonna shut up now - glad you're here! Others will be along presently to say howdy...

Folks were already kickin' ass when I got here!

Shiny! Normally the welcome is more immediate and profuse, but then a lot of new visitors start a thread with a heading like "I'm new here" or "Where has this site been all my life" or "Where's my gorram coat and berries?!"...which sort of gives folks a definite clue. You're a subtle Browncoat, you are!

It was hard to tell when he/she got here!

Welcome to the site, Aarodor! This was the first forum I ever posted to and the first time I ever went looking for folks that thought the same as me about something. I have never been affected by something the way I was by Firefly.
I'll bet there are more folks that come along and tell you that same thing.

WashnWear is right, usually all the folks who've taken to greeting folks are here earlier, but you are subtle.

*hands Aarodor a browncoat ( virtual of course ) just like Mal's from the storeroom*

There ya go, you're almost there. Soon someone will be along and offer you strawberries and ice planets.
If she sets up the shimmerwine fountain, I'll be back.

Make yourself to home. You can read in the guerilla marketing threads below General Discussion some ideas for spreading the word about FF/S. The more of us watching and telling others and buying stuff, the more our chance to have more in what ever incarnation Joss decides upon.

SISTER

Aarodor..welcome! My story is the same as many...saw the movie on cable...learned it had been based on a short-lived television series and went out and found it. My husband and I watched in amazement that such a fantastic series had been dropped... still can't believe it...wonderous stories that will never be told... went through a long period of rage/depression about Firefly..then found this place. I've never really joined a forum either..this is my first and still my only! I have become a tad (heh,) obsessive about voting once an hour for Firefly as the best TV show ever.. don't think it does one whit of good..except make me feel better...and one other thing i've never done before.. in one week's time I will be marching in a costume based on Firefly at Dragon*Con in Atlanta GA...now that's very unusual for me..so yes there is something about this show that touches people and doesn't let go. I believe Joss said something like he didn't want to make shows that had lawyers in them - he wanted to invade people's dreams... well, he's certainly done that...my only question is, 'now what?'...hope you enjoy yourself here as much as I have..welcome, again.

FLORALBUNNY

Aarodor! Welcome home, you shiny browncoat.
You're #27858 to sign on, and we are right glad
to see you here.

I can see you've already been coated by FM --
looks mighty good on you and, as always, a
perfect fit. (If there's anything Browncoats
can do it's pitch a perfect fit, heh.)

Now for the food items. Newcomers are usually
shown to the berries, with varying dips and
embellishments in season. This month it's cream
cheese and chocolate, or whipped cream. Or both ;-)

Wash 'em down with the most pungent and nutritious
Mudder's Milk this side of Higgins' Moon.

After you stash your stuff we'll see you up those
airy stairs in the galley for the questioning of
the buffet. Get your taster set for ice-planets
of all flavors, and plan on at least one glass
from the shimmerwine fountain, if guy can keep it
going.

Please don't step on ShipsCat or into her dish
:;-)

Aarodor,

Welcome new Browncoat,

Hope for more Firefly/Serenity rests with the Serenity Collector's Edition DVD (Release date: 8/21/2007)

See http://www.ropeofsilicon.com/news.php?id=6846 Joss Whedon interview at Comic Con 2007

If a Collector's Edition of a movie that has already been released on DVD sells enough, Universal or someone else will be convinced to make something new. They will know exactly how much return they will at least get on their investment.

There are a lot more options open to Joss then there were a few years ago.

There is theater release, Direct to DVD movie, TV movie, Sci-Fi Channel movie, and even Web episodes/movies.

MYOTHERCARISAFIREFLY

Aarrador...my story is the same. Never have jumped on a fan website before but this time I felt differently. I saw Serenity first and then saw Firefly. Now i've turned about 10 or so people onto the series and then it has spread from there. Anyway, welcome to the site!!!

Now, about Space: Above and Beyond. I remember seeing the series back in the mid 90's. Bought the DVD set a few months ago and watched it through. Its a series that would be much better today than it was back then.

Welcome to our corner of the verse AARODOR glad to have you aboard.I agree FF/Serenity are like a breath of fresh air compared to what's on tv now. Hopefully someone high up in tvland will see this and come up with a solution. Until then we hold!! Enjoy the forum.

LWAVES

You mention the UK???

I will assume you live there so a very hearty welcome from a fellow UK'er. There are a few of us around here, united to everyone else by one mighty fine reason.

Our Big Damn Heroes.

There are a lot of good folks here, and it's now the only forum I check and post on.

Yeah the show has only been on Sky's SciFi channel in the UK (as far as I know) and that was years ago when it was first shown. It has probably been repeated on there tho'.

Stay in this world awhile, it's cold out in the black.
