I finished listening to the Joss and cast commentary on the BDCE DVD. Joss kept referring to the first draft of Serenity which was 190 pages. My question is: does anyone know if that's on the internet anywhere and if so...where? Thanks.

Don't look, MistressSahara, DON'T LOOK! ...oh, crap ...too late...

All the cool stuff in the BDCE commentary had already been revealed when we got here!

And now for the punch-pull...I KID, MS, I kid...I kid because I care. You think it's been easy these past few weeks for those of us who haven't read Harry Potter 7 yet?

That above link does not work for me.

Google however found this (7 megs pdf file):

http://www.scifiscripts.com/scripts/Serenity.pdf

But this is only 129 pages...

EDIT - I don't think it is the same one.

That goes to sendmefile.com but then it says the requested file isn't there. ANother source??????
Does it give Book's background and fill in all the plot points like Joss says in the commentary?

Thanks for posting this, I just read through it. As much as I love the movie we have, there are certainly big parts of this that I wish Joss had had the time and money to put in.

I prefer the movie we got.

The script had some extremely funny bits in there (and there was much more understanding/warmth on the side of Mal towards River than I had expected), but this was more like a shortened season than a movie. It lacked gravity. The bits just don't hit you as hard. (The reason you prefer it... is it because everyone lived? or that it was almost an out and out comedy?)

Some scenes also lacked the finesse of the final version. (obviously since the final was more refined, more iterations etc...)

The Jayne confronting Mal was much darker in the final version. I really like that scene.

One scene I would have liked to cross over the changes was the one where Wash asked Zoe did anyone survive except for her, and her reply she could answer but he would not like it. Obviously it would not fit with Jayne mentioning that same point in his confrontation, but it was nicely done.

This does add a lot of background, thinking etc though.

Well, I did only say there were parts of this script that I wish there had been time and money for. The extended Reaver fights, particularly the excape from Miranda would have been nice. Also I really enjoyed the added scenes with Book. I liked him being around more, regardless of rather or not he ended up surviving. I also think Jayne had some great lines in this, yes many of them were adding a lot of humour. But I really like the bit from Zoe. "....All I lost was a war."
I'm also glad some of the stuff got pulled, like giving the Operative a name.

The above says "File not found", but this is a nice copy of the 190 page script:
http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/8/13/2048723/Serenity-190pages.pdf
There is the “You-Know-Who-Is-Dead” version of the script, with only 126 pages:
http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/8/13/2048723/Serenity-126pages.pdf
The page numbers 126 and 190 are the numbers that Joss Whedon put on the last page of the different scripts. When numbering, he doesn't count cover sheets or blank pages.

ALSO... Serenity-190pages.pdf can be found at www.mediafire.com/two
