Herein lies a place to stick your stuff from Dragon*Con. Use it wisely and well.

Images which may cause retinal scarring will please to be linked for the safety of your fellow browncoats. Images which are not likely to cause permanent damage are encouraged.

Of course there are probably so many that the entire site will get bogged down...

So, without further ado:

Thoughts, opinions, emotional outbursts?

AMITON

Dear and fluffy lord. This was my first D*C, and I was *so* not mentally prepared for it. I don't think I could have been any more prepared than I was without having experienced it before, but that was just unbelievable.

Unfortunately, I didn't manage to connect with a single damn person from this board. Granted, there were a *ton* of Browncoats that were readily visible, and I did at least see Cozen (or at least someone wearing Cozen's badge), but I never got to talk to anyone. Disappointed, but it will just have to be something that I rectify next year =)

Goodness gracious that place was insane...

Amiton.

All I can say is wow... This was my first con experience. It both lived up to my expectations and exceeded them =) I had a great time, but missed out on some of the things that I really wanted to see/do, but I'll be better prepared for next year. From almost getting lost in the shuffle for the Mythbuster panel to spending way too much at the vendors... Ahhh, my calendar is now measured in days to DragonCon '08.

TENTHCREWMEMBER

Could you please just make it stranger? Stranger. Odder. Could be weirder. More bizarre. How about uncanny?

Had a great time!

This being my second D*C, I was a little more prepared. Met a whole mess of folks, JediSix, Citizen, Sid, the SEBC gang, Akin the Finder, and more!

Oh, and in that vein, I have to apologize for my wife pulling me away from a group of Browncoats...I *think* there was a Frank and maybe a Magdelena and my memory is too fuzzy now...but if someone reading this is the people I got pulled away from in the Hyatt lobby, please note that I searched for you all weekend to apologize. I was not being rude! My wife dragged me off to the side and when I turned around, I had lost you in the waves of bodies. Please email me and we can get to know eachother!

Being in the parade was awesome, plus, being the only Browncoat trooper NOT in the 76th, it helped me stand out just a little bit more, just like Mal. ;) Still, I hope to march with them next year!

Ron and Mark were awesome, as usual. Got them to sign blown up versions of their BWAH! cards, and Ron loved my Jayne costume. They both loved the t-shirts and Southern Ohio Browncoat(SOB) patches I gave them, though Mark's T was too big, so he said he'd let his kid use it as a sleep shirt (which to me, being a father myself, was so very shiny!).

All in all, a fun time. I got to escort a D*C rookie around and she snapped pics like crazy. We got invited by Lloyd Kaufman himself to go see a private screening of Poultrygeist, the newest Troma film, and it was as funny as it was disgusting! So that was fun, also slummed in the Buffy 'verse a while by going to see James Marsters & Juliet Landau and company's panels. They were great too!

Bought too much swag as usual, but since most of it went to the SEBC, it's cool. Especially when I found out there is a pic of me in the Browncoat Yearbook! (bottom of page 33, if you are wondering, immediately above the <33> )
:)

And now I am home and tired, sore, but very satisfied.

BWAH!

America loves a winner!

Missed the Con this year, but I was there in spirit. Living here in the ATL, it was nice to hear much positive talk across the cortex. ( local t.v. and radio ) From the FM stations to the sports talk folks on the AM side, the word was out that DC was on.

Can't wait to hear all the stories and such the Con folk have to share.

People love a happy ending. So every episode, I will explain once again that I don't like people. And then Mal will shoot someone. Someone we like. And their puppy. - Joss

KAYLEE4SIMON

As always the con goes by too quickly. I loved hanging out with some of the browncoats on Thursday night at the Vortex before the con. The parade on Saturday kicked butt as I think the Firefly fans walking in the parade out numbered 501 or close to it. And everyone on the street seemed to be a Firefly fan because they all yelled out a characters name or screamed "go Firefly!". My favorite part was the shindig and getting to meet a lot of new browncoats and seeing ones from years past.

You guys rock and are the reason to come to Dragon*Con, well yall and Spartans.

I'm also in that little book Tenthcrewmember was talking about, I think their are about fifteen pictures of me and I swear I didn't turn in any pictures to be in the book. I'm the girl on pg. 7 bottom left.

I was very happy with the large amount of Kaylees this year. Maybe we should start our own Kaylee guild!

I unfortunately also missed the con this year which is soooo painful as I actually work in the office building connected to the Hilton. How did the Firefly/Serenity panels compare to last year? It sounds like we got a good showing in the parade. I've been worried that with no immediate word (still hoping though) of a sequel that the interest would be wanning.

Glad we could improve on last year darlin Tristan though I must say it wouldn't have been hard since you had such a horrific thing last year...HUGS and such how are the welts??? MisterG just rolled his eyes when I told him of the party/skirmish:)
God I have con withdrawl. I miss everyone so much and it just not as satisfying chatting this way..but it's still good.

I had the bes time. Words cannot describe how much fun it was. People keep asking me about the stuff at the con and I keep having to explain that although there was a con going on I was much too busy spending time with my friends to do any of that con stuff

I will say the spartans were really lovely and the costume watching was fun, but being with everyone was so much lovelier... man I miss everyone. I got up this morning and realized all I'd slept with was a blanket and pillow and not a heap of browncoats and it was so sad...then I realized I couldn't got shopping with Tristan and Laura and I couldn't banter with Washie and Engie and I couldn't hug Magda and Rose and whisper wicked things to each other or snuggle with my Jimi and I was really not best pleased...OK we need more cons or they need to be longer..... or really honestly someone has to win the lottery and make browncoat island...

Aaaah, sorry to hear that Amiton. You need to post more often in the picture threads. I was amazed at how many people recognized me. I think the best part for me was connecting with Browncoats from FFF.net and the 76th site.

I agree with you, MsG. I'm missing all of the folks being around. Maybe we should have a FFF.net Con. We wouldn't need celebrity panels. We could just hang togehter. That island sounds great.

Well, I was there but worked most of the time (just like Gen Con and Origins). If anyone stopped by the Troll & Toad booth in the Grand Ballroom (I think), I was there most of every day. I wore an Indiana Jones costume for a while, if that helps (I was the one with long hair). Anyway, had a great time, am tired as hell and have to go back to work tomorrow. Maybe next year I'll get more time to mingle.

PHOENIXROSE

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

ZOMG, what a crazy weekend! It felt like three days more than five, even though I didn't sleep very much. I got home and literally went right to bed and just got up. I'm sorting through all my piccies now, and there will be a special happy D*C picture thread to break everyone's dialup with.
I've literally lost track of all the awesome people I met. There were a few who I wish I could have gotten more time with (Fillygirl, Citizen, Karel, others I'm sure I've forgotten in the whirl of faces and names) and a few who I had never talked to before but had wonderful long chats with (Zephyr from the 76th, anotherfireflyfan, Gibbs from the 76th, Stevie the littlest Browncoat, Navyseils's friend Michael, and on and on)
It was a fabulous time, I didn't want to go home, but everyone else was leaving and I don't think it would have been as fun without them. I lost track of the number of times I said "I love DragonCon!" when something totally awesome and off the wall would happen.
God, I love DragonCon.
There were a few things that made me wonder if I should do it again, too. Some trouble at the Marriot, the long and ridiculous delay of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, just general emotional storms, but I'm sure I'll be back. Maybe not next year, since I have a long list of places I want to go, but I'm sure I'll be back.
However, next time someone else can reserve the hotel under their credit card. I didn't realize how high all the taxes on it would be and I'm stuck paying a bit more than I planned for it. However, it was mostly worth every penny. There was something missing, and I think you all know who that was, but I'd still do it again in a heartbeat.
Okay, going back to my pics now...

I'm thrilled to have gone, wish it could have lasted longer, and want to be able to huggle whomsoever I please whenever the mood strikes me.. but I know I'm carrying all these shiny people around in my heart now so I'm not sad or lonely, really.
Engie is the sweetest young lady, and I'd PM her to tell her so but I'm a technidiot and can't figure out how to go a-hunting for screen names on this site.

Back to work tomorrow. Son starts 3rd grade, too! If I tried to explain how veryvery exciting and wonderful the whole Con was to the people at work they'd all just smile and nod with that "Where'd we put those antipsychotics, again?" look.

That's OK, the voices would just tell me to smile and nod back.

Rose,
It's easy to find someone. Go to http://www.fireflylabs.ca/misc/fffsearch.html and just enter their username. The first one should take you directly to their page, but if it doesn't, just chose one, and then click on their name. It will take you to their page to send a PM.

Islands...mmmm.

We have lots up on the St Lawrence (Thousand Islands is the name of one region). We do get mosquitoes and blackflies, and there is no AC, but it is usually pleasant in Summer.

No bars on most of them either.. when the rum is gone it is truly gone.
'Course with this crowd that probably would never be a problem.

I was so proud of how well everyone marched and we looked damn good in the costumes our own Tristan stitched up for us. Got to meet so many of the 76th and hang out and chat with them, partied with others, but it all ended way too soon. I can't wait for next year!

You know what the first rule of flyin' is? Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take a boat in the air that you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of worlds. And love keeps her in the air when she oughtta fall down… tells ya she's hurtin' 'fore she keels… makes her a home.

Oh - I have no idea where to start! Being glomped for real by my most precious Mei Mei in the foyer of the Hyatt on the first evening!!! Meeting NavySeils and making him hug me for real!! Gettting to know his friend, Michael who felt like family straight away too! Meeting people from all over the world and hugging them coz they were already family!! Being recognised wherever we went as browncoats, meeting you all! Bear hugs with my Jimi-bear whenever I want! Hugging my MsG!!! Hugging my Rose!!! hugging my Engie!!! Hugging my Stinkin' Rose!! (thanks for the little 'gift' at the start of the parade Rosie! It came in very useful! ... & I don't mean the Altoids!) Hugging my wonderful brothers and sisters in arms who were part of the 76th! Being walked to the Vortex with Browncoat1 and his gorgeous wife, both of whom I feel like I have known all my life already!! Wandering around with my Kaylee costume on and being recognised as her by folk who came from all walks of sci fi life! Feeling like a princess at the Shindig on account of Stinkin' Rose and MsG's ministrations!! I love my sari!! Curling up in bed at the end of an amazing day with my Mei Mei and sharing our thoughts and feelings in whispered conversation! (thank you Mei Mei ) snuggling with Jimi-bear and MsG when we couldn't party anymore! Wandering around Con on the last night with Browncoat1 and his gorgeous bride - watching the guys drooling over her and taking photos of her! Always feeling safe no matter where I was coz there were more browncoats around than I could have imagined! Having no idea what the time was and what the day would hold as I'd wander somewhere with some friends and bump into other browncoats and they would say 'come with us to the...'and I would go with them and about an hour later we'd bump into some more friends and they'd say 'come with us we're going to the...' and so I would...

Finding a certain shy little kitty lurking near the Marriot on our way over to Jimi's room party! Just being with folk whom I've known online for so long and finding it all kind of normal and yet surreal to be in a room with them all in the flesh!! Kind of "Fireflyfans come to life"!!

My Mei Mei dressed as a pirate shic with whip and all - my other Mei Mei, Engie, with her Kaylee costume on! My Li'l Sis - MsG - just being there with her and talking whenever we wanted about whatever we wanted!

Oh! And bumping into Mark Shepherd on the first evening and having a chat with him and pic taken - he is the loveliest guy on the planet and I just adored him even more than before I went to con - he flirted with me in a Q & A session too! And I almost got lynched by a room full of about 1,000+ browncoats when I made a little joke about the show being cancelled...

Going to the Spike and Drusilla panel and just getting wave after wave of 'sexeh' off James Marsters! The queue was half the fun as I met ManWithPez and his wife - he made an awesome 'Seymore' from 'Little Shop of Horrors'!

Managing to live on less sleep for the whole con than I usually like to have in a single night!

And, lucky me... I still get Jimi-bear hugs!!!

OH yes... indeed they are Honey - but we'll have more opportunity next year!

Did I mention that I got to meet and hug Amy at the post-D*C shindig? Or that our other roommate, Clara was a joy to have around and was so very hot in her velvet slave girl costume??? Did I mention how much I love and adore my Mei Mei Rose and wish she'd woken up more when I said goodbye? I am not entirely convinced she recalls me hugging her at all...?

Oh and Mei Mei - I have some money to get to you too - what's the bestest way do you think? I had allowed a little more for taxes as I am realising there's 'hidden extras' in advertised prices here in the USA... not sure how much though! I think I'll get around to emails shortly - but I had to pop in and make contact with those from whom I am having withdrawral symptoms first!!!

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

Jie jie! Jie jie! You're here!
I did not wake up at all when you and MsG left. She says she kissed me on the forehead and said goodbye, but I have no memory of that or you hugging me. I have your canteen! I will send it to you in OZ or at your next destination if you let me know when you'll be where. The taxes and fees for the room were about $20 a night, paypal is totally fine to send to and most of my pictures are posted now! You can go get the pic of you with Mark whenever you like. If you want a larger version, let me know sweetie!
Also! Also! WorldCon is in Denver next year! Everyone should come there to see me! It's the one con I'm sure to be able to get to

I think that was the best thing about D*C is all the wonderful memories that I have to keep for ever.

Oh Squee!! World Con is in Denver next year!!! I shall have to see what can be done about that - D*C has one draw back for me next year - that it's around the same time as school goes back in France where I hope to be working as a nanny! If it looks like I can't get there for D*C World Con would be perfect!! Actually I should aim for World Con and think of D*C as a 'back up'!

I'll PM you Bryce's address Honey - that way you won't have to send my bottle to Australia - it would be silly after all!

Oh didn't you know I hugged you and kissed you - you gave me a kiss and all - but I thought you were more asleep than awake! now I feel bad...

Woah. Not sure what to say about the Con. Aside from the shindig and the parade, I didn't really do anything with the Con. I mainly hung out with 76th and FFF people all weekend. It was loads better than last year, and I am already missing everyone like crazy. Gonna go post some pics now :)

I switched glasses when your back was turned! Ha ha! You fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The most famous is never get involved in a land war in Asia, but only slightly less well-known is this: never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line!
