I might get to reposting all the uniform to do and such. But I'm sure most are on their way or have made a forward landing in Atlanta.

For my brothers and sisters in arms, this fight is a noble one. You are already heroes. Give 'em hell with the shiniest smiles you can muster.

LIBERTAS SUMPTUS!

_____________________________________________
We represent a newly-formed unit of Independent soliders at the outbreak of the hostilities (prior to Du Khang and Serenity Valley).
First and foremost, remember that this is a fan-based organization, and our first rule is "Show up. March. Have Fun!"

Our inaugural march will be taking place at DragonCon in Atlanta in September of 2007. Until that date, we ask all recruits to refrain from wearing the uniform in public.

We do have a few rules and regulations that must be met in order to be considered as a member, including uniform requirements and weapons requirements. These will be outlined below. Please be sure to read over all the information and confirm that you can meet all of these requirements before applying for membership. We are not trying to keep people out, but we do want to present a united, uniform Battalion of Independent soldiers, and one of the best ways to do this is to look the same.
-Quoted from thread heading-

I really don't have time right now to post all the fantastic pictury sort of stuff. But I'm sure there will be a stream of pictures beginning soon directly from D*C.

Boomergoodheart has pics post over at the 76th board, under 'Dragon Con'......'those left behind'

http://76thbattalion.proboards59.com/index.cgi

the march was a blast, we were the 4th or 5th group to march, we were behind "Potters",....there were people who knew we were Browncoats and some of the crowd asked who we were, we told the "Firefly", and the next day I was wearing my "76th" shirt and when the Colonel and I were walking thru the Marriott some body said in passing ...."hey Browncoat".....so people are reconizing the 76th patch. I though we look really good!

Well, it's Tuesday..gotta go back to work tomorrow...and lots to do today...but here's a quick take on DragonCon...the 76th ROCKED the parade, the CO got LOTS of new applications for membership! I got there on Thursday, checked in...met up with other members to march to the Vortex. It was a long march (as we had been warned) and it was hot and steamy...so I was a large pile of sweat when we got there (thanks to Private Sig for the towel...!) Even tho the Vortex had been warned of the large group of us arriving...I think they weren't really expecting as many as actually showed up so our poor waitresses/waitors had quite a scramble to seat/feed/provide drinks...but they did a fantastic job. It was wonderful to meet everyone that I've been messaging for nearly a year. Helped for the rest of the con to 'recognize' each other, too. On Friday we had the day to ourselves to wander about the convention...sooooo very much to see (and covet). Wore my uniform pants/boots and the FABULOUS Zoe shotgun my husband bought for me;(actually met the guy who sold it to him AND JimiBear met the fellow who MADE it!) got lots of compliments on that and told a lot of people to make sure they watched the parade and our inaugural march..missed my chance at a tee shirt (picture of River in the battle pose saying "My Turn"...they sold out of my size..dammit)...good swag to be had and so many unbelievably well done costumes. My friend who was flying in from Texas experienced one of those horrible canceled flights so she didn't make it on Friday..OR Saturday...so she missed the parade!)... Here's how my Saturday morning went...I had stayed out so late th night before and we were to 'muster' in the Hyatt lobby at 7:30 AM...I was so excited I kept waking up... 2am...3:14 am... 4am...5:25am...then 7:09 AM!! AHHHHHHHH...luckily Pvt. Dae called my room because she needed a helmet for the parade so that got me moving...STILL was a bit late for the muster but, man it was sooooo cool to see all of us in uniform! ArtCat handed out the parade ribbons...and we headed over to the park/gathering spot. Again...unbelievably cool costumes...tightly gathered sooo very much eye-candy...brains in overload..We posed for a group shot on some stairs...had NO time to 'practice' marching, and really, no space either..it was packed with people. We had a lot of folks taking pictures of us and, even tho it was early, early morning...it was very, hot! Browncoat1 had us take off our helmets and drink water. We marched with the SouthEastBrownCoats...following their 'companion guild' which made most of the menfolk VERY happy. They all looked lovely. When we fell in we formed two lines so people could see ALL of us and our shiny-ness. I was next to VEX...who I kept reminding to "slow down' so we stayed together she's a speedy walker. HUGE crowds..we chanteded "76th" several times during the march...had many, many picturers and video folk running about taking shots of us. The parade ended at the Marriott where staff handed out water (we needed it).. we then occuppied the lounge on the second level of the Marriott for some wonderful awards and promotions that others can tell you all about much better than I can. For me, it was back tothe room..and a change of clothes..into a "nightmare battalion" shirt because the full uniform was too hot for me. Later we overtook an area on the 10th floor of the Marriott for some delicious barbecue procured by Zephyr and Jimi!! Lots of story-telling/joy/and happiness shared by all. My friend from Texas FINALLY showed up with two of her pals...The elusive Ninja HK also put in an appearance(!)..So nice to meet everyone again. Saturday was a very late night (3am)...as there was AGAIN so much to see-listen to and watch...my brain is still sorting everything out so I apologize for not being any clearer...Got to the Shindig and danced away to the bedlam bards! During the "River" dance...lost my camera; found by a fellow dressed as Badger...so tragedy averted...Okay..so Sunday AM...I volunteered for the SEBC table and met "TimR"...nicest man ever.. we handed out free stuff...information on the SEBC charities and the 76th! After my stint at the table...my friend had FINALLY gotten up! When I got back to the room, the maid was helping her dress up as RIVER! She looked good and lots of folks took her picture - I think she'll be joining us as she saw firsthand how much fun we had at D*C...During the day I remember running into Canter (she's SO COOL)...who said she was trying not to sleep too much so she wouldn't miss anything! Not much sleep was had by anyone, let me tell you. At 4p.m. we stood in the longest line (ran from the hyatt's lower level...out the back door...down the steps....into the street...passed the only entrance they were letting people in....for a panel with Ron Glass and Mark...(only Mark had to be at a Battlestar G panel and didn't make it)...The panel started 35 minutes late but it was nice to see Ron...then more wandering, gawking, marveling and buying. My friend bough a StarTrek shirt (from the Next Gen).. and said she would wear it to work to prove her geekiness to co-workers..heh...we watched the costume contest on D*C-tv... it was a hoot...some of the performances were AWFUL...and we laughed our asses off. Three guys used the soundtrack from Serenity (Wash's dinosaur bit)...and had built replicas of the dinosaurs...and the Grrr-Arrrgh alien...they got an ENORMOUS cheer from the audience! I ran into them later and took their picture...which I'm hoping turns out...Another night of craziness (and much alcohol)...and Sunday was over! Monday...couldn't make the CO's shindig so drove home. Whew...I know I've left a lot out...but it was a fantastic time...the 76th was well represented and we're already planning several more con appearances...so watch this space for more details and info!

But you forgot:

Oh, wait... there's no GORRAM ROOM for everything on one website!

It was a great time. I started a thread for pics and stuff.

Sister neglected to mention that not only were we following the Companions, we were ahead of the Spartans.

It was a shiny sandwich on pretty bread with a side of applause.

Wow.
Yep, that's about all the words I have at the moment.

But, I do have photos.

Oh, and you have got to check this out....this is the Browncoat table in the Dealer room, packed three deep with people wanting to buy things. It slowed down traffic on that row. How shiny is that?

Then the after-Con shindig at the house...and the Bedlam Bards were there!

Now to go to bed....

Thank you all for keeping the thread alive!

Sailor Jerry spiced rum. Named after the uber famouso tattoo artist of the twentieth century. I believe Jimi and Mags followed the special instruction of allowing the bottle to breathe for a few minutes and warming the bitch for a few hours before using.

I reserve it's usage for special occasions when I know work and play is out of the question for the next day. Makes excellent mixed drinks but is a little harsh hard up.

Unless of course you are of the pirate sort. ARRRRR!

Anyhoo, I can ship, (ultra secretly of course). PM me ifn' ya want to FT.

NVG - Gotta drink it straight At least that's how it was presented on... What night was that anyway? Sunday? Didn't have to operate any heavy machinery, so it was quite pleasant.
