mornin' Imponderables.

Lessee, we have MrG and MsG having a successful dance lesson, Mavs teasing MrG with a pic he cannot see (neither can I) and showing MsG another one, that again I cannot see, NVG as an angry CareBear, and Magda being coy and not telling MsG something. Sounds like a fun afternoon/evening.

NVG, I don't do a lot for myself. In fact, aside from a few things I got to do D*C weekend and in the week following it, I really haven't done much for myself in a long while. I just like making sure that others are enjoying themselves, I guess.

And you're so good at making sure we enjoy ourselves too....but you really should do more for yourself.... HUGS Jimi

OK I have a ponderable...weird though it may be

One of my friends from school emailed me and we resumed the conversation we were having yesterday. As you know I don't spend massive amounts of time on my hair or appearance, she's of the opinion that it's better to be visually attractive and I think it's better to smell and feel ( as in how it feels to touch your skin and hair)good...so what do you think? Looks or touch???

I am all about touch, it being my favorite sense and all. If someone will let me play with their hair, I am usually in heaven. If it smells nice, that just makes it that much better. :)

*hugs MsG big time*

Well I'm useless I say both.

Smell, and feel is very important, but there is more than that. If you look yeck, it doesn't matter so much beacuse in todays society people will judge based on appearance. But if you're fairly ripe then they'll judge after that.

Fortunatly you excell at both eheh.

Morning, everyone.

Jimi, I took a pic of myself with a Mav *heart* MsG sign. I contemplated posting other things, but held back my inner 8 year old.

MsG, touch, taste and smell win every time. It's much more sensual to know that if someone is that close they can taste you? *shivers*

*sigh*

Back to work.

Seems like these sorta go hand in hand. How exactly do you get good looking hair that is yucky to touch? Or good looking skin that feels like snake skin?

The only thing I could see is looking really hot and smelling like you work at the dump. You can go the other way too though. Looking awful but smelling great doesn't work either.

I don't think one of the two is really worth much on its own. You need a bit of everything.

Oh and I'm not saying look hideous or smell/feel awful..I'm saying do you want someone who concentrates more time on their appearance( full make up job, hair done with a lot of effort) or concentrates more on how their hair/skin feels and how nice they smell:)

At a party, for example, you might find woman #1 that just spent $500 on looking fantastic, and #2 that looks "OK" but smells fantastic. Which woman has more confidence?

#1? Miss "I need to look absolutely perfect" in order to be accepted?

#2? Miss "I cant do crap with my hair tonight, but by god I'll be nice to the guy that takes a chance with me and my personal space will make him never leave."

hmm never thought of it as a confidence thing...my gorgeous baby sis Cathy spends like an hour or two getting ready and I wouldn't think she lacks confidence ( maybe I just haven't noticed 'cause I think she's fantastic!)
I on the other hand ( and I don't mean when we have a big to-do so you can just zip it Mr.G ) Spend less than 30 getting ready on average and that includes shower, dressing, hair, and make-up
Which is partly because I am cursed with super silky baby fine hair that will not hold any style so my options are down, pony tail,or back in a barrett and by the end of the day it will have come loose from the barrett or pony tail ..sigh

There is a law of diminishing return.

You, MSG, look good after 10 minutes of makeup. Add another 40 minutes and you will look 30% better. Add another two hours and you might bring that up to 40%.

(Obviously there isn't a scientific way to come up with exact percentages, but I think you get my drift.)

Some women might need a lot longer than your 10 minutes. Most women, in my opinion, should recognize the law of diminishing returns and stop applying makeup after they have reached their best return on investment. (Geez, the terms I use.)

LOL Fly...yeah that's basically how I see it. I look fine after showering, dressing, and minimal make-up/hair. I could probably do better, but why waste the time. I will however waste a massive amount of time showering, exfoliating, shaving, and lotioning...(as MrG. can tell you the longest part of my morning is the shower/moisturizer section) Which is why I'm one of bath and body works best customers...giggle

Zeek curious...ok so what kind of girl would get your attention at a party???

I'm sure MisterG appreciates not having to scrape away dead skin to get near you, but you have to admit that some of that you do for yourself and not just because you are going out.

If you stayed home alone you might relinquish your makeup regimen, but I have sincere doubts that you would forgo your lotion.

MrsFly thinks that it is funny that the Bath&Body coupons come to the house addressed to me. Not that I use the products, but that I'm the one in their customer database.

Well some of it is because I live in a desert, and some is because I really love scented lotion ...for example right now I smell like lavender vanilla( shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, and perfume) I'd make you sniff me, but the long distance smell-o-scope is malfunctioning.

Fly- LOL that makes me laugh too....but I know your wife loves that you buy her stuff from there!

My friend Bridgette, who is pseudo-dating my friend Jesuha, always tells me I smell like a moderate-to-expensive prostitute when I have on my Axe deoderant and/or body spray (I have the shower gel too). Saturday night, I got a shower before the party, and used some Lavender stuff. She told me not to bother with the Axe. She also told me she would be giving me a call if she and Jesh didn't work out.

She might lift the restrictions soon. It has been a while since I made a B&B run. She might be well stocked on liquid shower soap, but I'm certain that the vat of body lotion must be running dry.

Speaking of body lotion: Slippery sex. That's all I have to say.

LOL Fly...so what's your wifes favorite scent from B&B?

Right now mine are freshwater cucumber, vanilla bean(which smells like vanilla and caramel, the Co Bigelow lavender ( which smells exactly like crushed lavender flowers and not all floral like some fake lavender),apple blossom, and lemon verbena. My shower has so many bottles in it it's rather hard to find space and my dresser top is equally filled with lotions and perfumes to match:)

Axe Phoenix body wash.
Axe Touch body wash (came in a dual package, I bought it for the evil sexy ducky)
Garnier Fructis conditioner - unused in many months
a selection of colored loufes

My room is even more sparse:

Axe Phoenix deoderant/anti-perspirant
glasses/contact lens case
Trojan box

She cycles through a lot of different ones. Right now it is cherry blossom, which she has in several different scrubs/soaps/lotions. But she also has it in a perfume. When she came home from work yesterday looking like hell and needing a hug I had to bury my nose below her ear and inhale. I'm such a damn vampire.

Props on the Browncoaty Man-whore scents Jimi. Seems I've laxed on the smelly sort of stuff besidfes the manly barsoap and an occasional Stetson aftershave lotion I use once a week. I REALLY wnat a bottle of Kenneth Cole Black. After spending a half hour waiting for some of our kids to complete their shopping I sampled every scent possible (with a small gap between scents) and Black seemed to get a good response.

I love shopping day boredom.

As for the touch versus scent versus sight thing. I like certain things about a woman that really have nothing to do with how good their hair and makeup looks. Lifting their feet when they walk, skillful hand expression, defined lines in the back, and attention to appearance (hair and makeup) that is not overdone. I guess traits of self confidence really get my attention. Smell is nice as I am like a bear and smell everything. I heard somewhere that the eye can only discern 24 seperate colors accurately, but smell can trigger just as many memories per scent. Touch. It might be a cultural thing but touch isn't really accepted well unless it is from someone you are absolutely bound to. I never did get why, it just is. So touch in my culture is important in ways I can't even explain.

Here I go again. Brain is working on things other than work.

Smells I like when a woman is about:
(Please ignore any sexist tone I may display because yes, some of the observations are taken directly from pig mode, others from pleasent memories)
1. Baked goods.
2. New tires
3. Tequilla
4. Wild flowers
5. Coconut

There is also a certain brand of perfume somone has been using since before I knew her that never smells the same unless she wears it. Sure it is good smelling out of the bottle, but there is some chemical reaction between her and the scent than drives me to the edge of ape shit, in a good way of course.

Sorry to denigrate your selection, but Axe smells like ass.

Oh I accept you for who you are, I just plan to hug you anyway...

NV- yeah individual chemistry changes the smell of any fragrance...may be why I like Axe on Jimi, but not in general.
OOOH I should send you some coconut lime verbena lotion for Mindy...she'd love it and so would you:)

Is totaly true. That's why I so was driven crazy this one scent on a former GF who's name I dare not utter for fear of MsG going into a frenzy of wanting to kill her (but begins with J), but the scent didn't work on MsG :(

Still MsG has vanilla :D

I'm pretty sure as nice as you would smell in "cinnamon buns" it is a situational thing and a mixed chemistry that does it for me. MrsFly wears it JUST the way I want her to wear it. Right spark, right time.

And I second the "coconut lime verbena". Get thee to a B&BW!

You know what the first rule of flyin' is? Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take a boat in the air that you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of worlds. And love keeps her in the air when she oughtta fall down… tells ya she's hurtin' 'fore she keels… makes her a home.

I'm allergic to verbena! And gardenia!

I have to be careful what I wear. Many perfumes give me a headache. I bought a new one, however, while waiting for Madga at Union Station. It is called #4711, and it is German.

On someone's advice, I also bought some caramel scented body lotion.

I think I will put some on when I get home.

Whatever they use to help vaporize perfume gives me a terrible headache. I can stand small sprays, but the old ladies douse themselves in the double sets of doors at a local casino and it kills me everytime I have to cash a check there.

Seems my dyslexia and hunger have gotten the best of me. It is taking way too long to post so I'm off to scavange for food at home for a bit.

See y'all later.
