As I'm sure we all know the 'verse is one based on practicality. Lasers fail, bullets don't.

However, I've always wondered how practical the infirmary on Serenity is. I realise that it works well for them during the series (and is almost a necessity) but it seems to me that in a real world situation that would cost the ship a lot of space that could be used for storage or more passenger cabins, etc. (Don't forget the gangway around the infirmary). That's a lot of nominally useless space in a ship designed to break atmo repeatedly.

I also doubt a ship of Serenity's size would normally come with an infirmary built in. How many ships with crews of less than 10 normally carry a doctor and a stocked infirmary? It's possible they could have retrofitted it after purchase, though that raises the questions of funds... they don't exactly have a savings account for upgrades.

Any thoughts?

Well then, I guess that's settled. Haven't read any of the RPG material. Makes sense though, usually a lot of equipment left over after a war (let alone an universal war).

Try to take this as lightly as possibly, but you can't really complain about the reality in the ship's design when - well, c'mon, River's psychic. Of course there are lots of things that aren't realistic.

You should pick it up. The core book at least. It's got a lot of information that is scattered through the episodes and other sources all brought together under one cover. Plus, hey, you might want to give the game a try.

A) It's not that expensive.
B) The RPG industry is not that lucrative. They can use the cash. Honestly, I know one of the people involved in the book and he'd be pleased as punch to get the sale I betcha.
C) I'd be surprised if it hasn't made it onto the file sharing networks by now.
