As we all know the greatest joy is watching the Firefly episodes for the very first time. Allowing the Whedonesque Ways to guide you through well crafted stories, tremendous acting, and novel directing, and thus opening many to the world of great storytelling (that has been missing in tv for too long). Firefly had it all, humor, tragedy, bizarre love triangles, and as we all agree way ahead of its time and pulled off the air just as it was developing into a true classic show. Thus, it was determined that after watching Objects in Space a small empty space was left in mine soul, as well as im sure many of y'alls.

However, that empty space can be partially filled by sharing this great show with others. Thus, the second greatest joy is of course sharing FF with others, be it friends, families, or pass-a-byers on the street.

My sharing story, involves introducing the verse to my wife and her parents. Her father loves old westerns, (lonesome dove, bonanza) and her mom is a food network junky. I thought i would have some luck hookin my father-in-law by describing it as a space western. Of course his response was he wasn't quite into "that sci-fi stuff." I told to give it a few episodes and if they didn't like it after a few episodes then i would let them be. Well i showed them Serenity, Train job, and Bushwacked, and had them pretty interested. I then jumped righ to Our Mrs Reynolds, and as soon as we hit the "i'm going to special hell" scene THEY WERE SO HOOKED. My mother-in-law must have laughed for 5 minutes straight.

Since then we have had a FF marathon, watching the rest of the episodes in about 2 days. Tonight shall be most depressing since we will be watching Objects in space, and thus no more regular season episodes. Of course i shall mention the light at the end of the tunnel that is Serenity the Movie, but i think we all agree twas the tv series that hooked most of us.

What made the experience even more special is that my father in law has been diagnosed with a probable terminal cancer (hopefully we have years), and the series really has brought a smile and laugh on his face. He's really takin to the Ballad of Serenity. "You can't take the sky from me" can really have a special meaning.

Also, whats most surprising, my mother-in-law, (Ms. Food Network) likes it more than her husband. She thinks Jayne is the funniest and most interesting character on tv.

Well that's my Firefly Sharing Story

LETS HEAR Y'ALL'S STORIES AND SEE HOW FF HAS MAYBE MADE THIS SMALL WORLD A LITTLE BETTER

That's 'cause Jayne is...

Ok mine's not as dramatic, but I talked a co-worker into borrowing my dvd set and he loved it so much it took me 6 months to get it back ( luckily it was my loaner set) because he kept re-watching episodes

saw the opening with River, got hooked - "it's so sensuous" they said -
the sick cat came and watched as well -
we ended up watching it twice
and i made two converts for the price of one -
a brown coat - and a brown cat:)
(and the dancer aint sad no more - and the cat aint sick - what a happy ending!)
