I'm thinking of starting a movement to declare "maybe" to be the most agonizing word in the 'Verse! The anticipation is killing me! Although, in the spirit of "no news is good news," I'll just keep in mind a quote from the old school Willie Wonka (nothing against Depp, but Gene Wilder, as far as I'm concerned, is just a jumbo bag of funny-covered awesome!): "The suspense is terrible. I hope it'll last."

I'm trying to decrease my pessimistic nature for the sake of the cause and all my fellow Browncoats, since I am a big believer in the power of positive thinking.

Ray, thanks so much for keeping this thread going and updated. I, like many of the other Browncoats here, I'm sure, have trouble finding the time to stay really "plugged in" to what is being said or NOT SAID around the webs, so I really appreciate the effort. I check this thread every day to make sure my continued hope is not in vain, and hoping that something new will have leaked that will turn my hope into concrete anticpation. Thanks again!

Now, I'm off to do my positive vibe exercises:
"You can't stop the signal..."
"You can't stop the signal..."
"You can't stop the signal..."
"You can't stop the signal..."

I only watched Firefly + Serenity for the first time a couple of weeks ago but I have never been this exited over a television series before. I desperatly hope that Serenity 2 becomes a reality as it seems unjust for such a fantastic story to be so short lived.

Nice taste in Wonkas, Wink! Gene Wilder was and always will be WW, in my reckoning.. Depp was okay, but, a little too Michael Jacksonesque for me. By the way, didja know that, when they were casting the WW role for the remake, Robert Deniro was considered?

I am fortunate to have the time available to scurry about seeking updates; the problem, really, is finding anything /reliable/, pro or con. BreakAtmo's posts on Universal HD's Firefly page were a nice reinforcement of the shiny news Alan gave us, but, I have to remain scrupulous when considering any informal source.

BA's report is right up there, in apparent veracity, especially as his report has been corroborated (informally) by other attendees of Armageddon. But, it's not direct quotes, so, it doesn't carry quite the weight that the original quotation did.

At this point, still waitin' for word from Joss. That has been, and, shall remain, the best reinforcement for my hopes, at this point.

Shiny mantra you have there...

Keep her flyin'!

First I heard of this was at a convention on the weekend, from the man himself.
Apparently Firefly and Serenity DVDs are still making decent sales so the studio is considering if they could make more money from us by making another movie.

I ain't complaining! I'd be happy to pony up!

Yup.
But all he said was that there are murmurs about the possibility of another movie because the collectors edition of Serenity was selling so well.
Nothing concrete I'm afraid!

He left the whole audience hoping!

I don't know how many of you watch Whedonesque, but Joss did just post there about the Buffy sing-a-long issue. While that brings up a lot of things we could discuss, the one that relates to us is that he obviously is reading Whedonesque.

He has to know about this. And he hasn't said a word.

Welcome, Biggs! Glad to have you aboard. The Browncoats are always looking for reinforcements!

You're absolutely right: It is a travesty that such an excellent show should have been allowed to produce so few hours of footage. We're all holding our collective breath that the old girl might still have some life left in her. I also am fairly new to the show; less than a year and only been posting here a few months. So, I wasn't around the last time these great folks "did the impossible" and managed to get Serenity into theaters. If it should happen for us again, I'll be proud to be part of the family this time around, and if you're throwing your 2 cents in here, I'm guessing you're feeling the same way.

Brilliant!

That is EXACTLY the point we've been makin,' all along!

Silence is golden!

By the way, if we want to encourage Universal to make our sequel, buy the Big Damn Collector's Edition. The Firefly Series DVD only puts money in F*X's pocket *spits on ground*, and, though that won't stop me from buyin' 'em, right now, Universal's seein' alla my coin, since they're the ones who can give us our movie.

Hold the line!

Much as I love Jewel, let's not get all depressed, here. This is what she said:

"Okay, okay, okay: Lets address these Serenity 2 rumors before anything else. I have no idea what you people are talking about! Seems to me someone (with a name that starts with A and ends in LAN) said something in an interview that was misconstrued as the sequel being greenlit, which is not the case at the moment. I will never say it will never happen, because that's just blasphemy in my opinion, but it's not happening at the moment… no matter what you read on the internet. You know better than to believe everything you read, anyway! "

No one, not even the most ridiculously optimistic, has ever said they thought what Alan meant was that Universal (or, anyone else) had greenlighted a sequel.

Pretty much, Jewel's NOT Joss.

So, I'm still waiting to hear from HIM about the rumors about Universal /being interested in/ a sequel, as expressed by Alan in the original interview.

Hang in there, folks. This is far from over.

Actually, someone said G4 was running it in their ticker that Serenity 2 got a green light. I think that's where all the problems came from.

I'm still waitin' on Joss though!

Anyway, fundamentally, nothin's changed.

i posted a while back saying that i would ask my friend that works at universal in the marketing dept. if there were any updates...

he told me, "it's in negotiation but in the works"

lol, i admit, that doesn't make much sense, but it SOUNDS like they are talking about it at the studio, in some form or fashion, so i suppose thats a bit of good news!!

anyway, just thought i'd share, i will report back if i hear anything further.

Well, hollywood, if this pans out, this is the best news we've had. However, I'm not gonna send out invites to my shindig, just yet...

Not to be unkind, but, this is second-hand, and, unsubstantiated. Without knowing your source, we can't know he's not misinformed, or, mebbe, just funnin' ya.

HOWEVER...

Assumin' this is on the up-and-up, I would interpret what he said, "it's in negotiation but in the works," as meanin':

"There are negotiations in progress to hammer out the details, but, to proceed on the project has been agreed upon, in principal."

Do, please, keep us posted, hollywood. Thank you for the info, which we'll all be very glad to have, barring word outta Joss.

Hold the line, Browncoats!

There are a number of sites talking about the new letter writing campaign. I suggest we all post these sites to digg and del.icio.us or whatever else you can think of.

NathanNation in conjuction with the WaveCard campaign will be posting a digg on Monday about this (provided there's an update to the bigdamnsequel site with all the info to link to ). If they aren't done updating we'll be doing it Tuesday. And putting all the energy of NathanNation, the Browncoat Signal Corps and anyone else we can muster behind this.

The Irregulars crew on the serenitymovie.org site will be heavily involved in promoting this, tagging it at digg and getting all their team members involved.

I'll come back and post when we've posted the digg at www.digg.com. All the digging support from BC's for this will be appreciated, we want to spread this to folks who don't frequent the boards anymore and to anyone who might be intrigued. :)
