There really ain't a span of miles that could keep me from those feelings. Mine seems an internal and lasting feeling that someone could be better off without me if it weren't for the want still lingering.

So yeah 'Neko, distance means crap. I'd hate to uproot for any reason but love. Love binds us to our home but sometimes we can carry a piece of it wherever we go. Normally I'd say "Worry about your career before boys" but I think we may be talking about a man. Make sure he is indeed a man before putting too much on the line. If he falls in the man category, GAME ON!!!

Off to watch more footage of people doing or not doing their jobs. Hooray!

Neko ...one more add in. Since we're teachers it's easy for us to get a job anywhere we want, but make sure if you move it's a place you'd want to be even if he weren't there... if it is. I say go for it. You will make new friends and maybe do something different with teaching and have fun:)

Should I decorate in here too..I did the bar up for her, but I think at least a nice corner here

How come me and MrG are the only ones going all level headed on this ponderable?

How about this one? Sounds like you're a teacher. That means summers "off" right? If work is as easy to find as MsG says then I'm guessing you could do some summer school stuff near where ever your guy lives. Then you could spend a summer getting to know each other better and you wouldn't be risking a whole lot.

Oh, Zeek...I'm pretty much with you on this one. But, please note where that thinking has gotten me...nowhere.

Actually, I wouldn't move until I was at the point of getting engaged. I would want some serious affirmation that he was the one and he felt the same about me.

Thanks for the input guys.

*giggle* Thanks for the "levelheadedness" Zeek, (and like you and Rugbug, it's gotten me nowhere either )

Trying to keep this from being too long:
1. Been talking to my geek for nearly *counts fingers* 20 years already.
2. Plan on visiting...it looks like spring break is the time because of other commitments between now and then.
3. I'd get my "ducks in a row" work-wise before I settle where ever it is...A teacher's "wild and crazy" life (stop laughing MsG, DTH, Emma, and the rest of you teachers ) means a full school-term commitment, usually.
4. Definitely double-, triple-, and umpteenmillionth- checking on him being a man and not a boy. Those who know of my bex1 and bex2 have an idea of the whys...
5. If it was my choice -- both of us would compromise and move somewhere in-between where we both are now. My vote would be to move where I have at least one friend living right now.
6. Fantasy version: My geek would decide to move to this area and we find someplace where I live (on the various rocks here) where we both can be fairly happy working.

Even with the sparkage, there'd be a few years before any move truly happened. (I have zero intention of doing what a few friends did -- move somewhere and hope I get a job.)

Thanks again guys. es and *hugs* to all.

ETA: Thanks RugBug...MsG the truly "fun" part of the testing (not) is that it's based on three years of science...and most of the stuff isn't what they're taking from me. Even more fun -- was observing the lab portion of the test and a lot of my students don't know how to do a lab. *shudder* 'Course it doesn't help that they haven't done a lab in my class yet. *sigh*

It depresses me what this 'testing' has done to the educational system in this country and worse, the teachers. I think it's so wrong that they can't teach, but have to teach the test... *sigh*

Then again, I could never teach. I marvel at the ability of any teacher to keep a level head and deal with all the bs, paperwork, and obnoxious kids as well as working with old text books, etc.

My hat I never wear is off to all of you! :)

OK so let's examine the issues of the long distance thing further. I mean I sorta believe it's an impossible scenario for anyone to make a valid judgment. The only times you'd see each other would be for a visit and come on everyone loves vacation. It would always seem like the person is perfect and makes the world a happy shiny place. There's no way you'd see what they're like in everyday life and find out if you two are really compatible.

Basically I've thought way too much about the difficulty of starting a long distance relationship and I don't see any solution other than taking the plunge and that's just not my style. Is there anything I'm missing?

Ya know Zeek, I'm really glad you're around with this incredible view. Some of can be very compulsive with the decisions we make about love. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind taking the chance. Seems I'd gone too long feeling nothing that a little pain isn't that much of a bother. It's that whole numb and indifferent thing that seems to do the most damage.

As for long distance, yeah, I can see how not having contact with someone everyday can be the relationship killer quicker than anything else. But the vacation idea is an awesome one. I'm sure most of us would be taking better vacations if we had such a great incentive.

'Neko darlin', I'm so glad you've had time to plan, plot, and scheme. It does a heart good to keep hopes and dreams afloat in the midst of our everyday existence in the mundane and stressful jobs we choose to love. Seems we might have to meet you're fella eventually but too bad it ain't like the usual "Meet a loved ones other" session. Mine usually consists of some poor little Mexican fella cowering in submission the first few times I meet him. Seems my sisters squeeze put on his running shoes when I told her to tell him to quit sitting on the sidelines 'til I left. He needs to come over and say Hi or something. Tired of shady f&^%$#&s. He took my aggressive stance fairly well.
I just love being assertive.

So I'm rambling and typing really slow right now. Seems the last week caught up with me and I had a fair amount of rums last night. Not enough to hurt right now, but definately enough to feel good for a few hours. Still ain't sleeping right. Went to bed at 3 AM and got up at 7. Mindy noticed how charged I've been lately and seems to want me around more. Supposed to have dinner at her house tonight with the kids. I think I'm actually gonna ask her out on a date. Seems as long as we've known eachother there are still a few things we haven't done. Who here has never been to a movie with their best friend? (Raises hand) Am I the only one?

Ah, you say the nicest things. ;) If you chase, I promise not to run too fast.

'Neko, I vote for Zeek's idea of a summer spent with they guy. You live in paradise, yes? So sublet your place, take an extended vacation and see how it is to be with him for more than just a week or so.

IMO, it is difficult to move to someone else's town. They have a life already built and don't necessarily understand why you don't feel at home like they do. I have a friend who moved from CA to OH and was miserable in everything but love...until, that is, they sold his house and moved to a place/town of their own. Once they were both on unfamiliar territory it got easier and they were able to start building a life together instead of her trying to fit into his old life.

Okay, I used to have this reoccuring dream about running away with some chica in a jet black '54 Ford pickup. But seems those days may be over and there has to be room for car seats and the like so I am looking to build a rod like this:

Don't it just look like something and anti hero of the fifties and sixties woulda drove on the drive in movie screen?

Who else has reoccuring dreams? I never really had enough reason to run from the relatively safe place my roots bind me to so why would there be some underlying reason to run in my dreams.

Hey I have recurring nightmares...does that count:)

I'm pretty sure a baby seat would fit in the back of that car, but considering the number of seats you'll need plus the odd of kid spilling milk on your seats...maybe the mini van is the way to go :)

Love the vacation concept Zeek...like a long distance booty call with more appeal( due to love and all)

Thanks guys.

Yep, might do a summer break visit...a month with my geek sounds like something I'd like to do/try. (Subletting might be out with the contract I have though..)

NVG: Iff'n I ever get in your area with my geek ('Vegas was close enough, right?), I'll have you meet both of us. (My luck, you'll think he deserves better than me -- kidding!) Oh, and I haven't been to a movie with my geek yet....watched DVDs yes, to the movie theater? Nope.

Recurring dreams: Once or twice...but it's been a while. And, the running away might've been more of a running to something? (A safer, saner location and future maybe?) 'Course, with me being in an overall giddy mood with the sparkage I could be wrong.

Okay. Day's almost through. (Yay.) Somewhere along the way though, I've lost my mind, so today is the day for me to find it. (I hope.)

ETA: GG -- nope, not bringing any video games or the like with me when I see my geek. My geek knows me as "geek light" or "diet geek" (used to be an EE major that same lifetime ago -- of course I'd be part geek ).

(points to whomever gets my refrence. )

This out of context moment brought to you by Fruity Oaty Bars, they're not just for kick @$$ ladies!

My wife and I knew each other for 5 years before we got married, and lost touch for 3 of those. We spent 2 years writing letters(this is before the internet was anything but a college thing), and talking on the phone. Worked for us, especially because we were unable to visit each other(across the country from each other). So my 2 cents are: spend some time with him, and remember, geeks are shy, gentle creatures. Bring a video game to lure him from his den.

Had a good week here so far except for the damn AC running while it's under 40 outside. Seriously wth is with our crappy heating/cooling system.

Instead of having it set to cool to X (70) in the summer, or keep warming up to X (again lets say 70 again because I belive that's where it is set) it instead says "Ok 70.. I'll do whatever it takes to keep the temprature at that constantly. If that means running heat in the summer, and AC in the winter so the temp doesn't variate, that's what I do" . AGHGHG

Yeah I always very carefully inquire on auctions on eBay.. after all someone can say they are selling something that is say for a table top game "You are bidding on an army unit box for the game Blahblah" However, in reality they could mean you're just bidding on the box.

Thankfully that kinda crap is low. Yah for feedback read-through’s.

Fortunately I've only been burned once on eBay.

MrG...I've had that experience with ebay. Bought a hunt coat that should've been perfect. I already had one that was the same brand, same cut, everything...I just wanted it a size larger for those 'puffy' days. Mine is a 12 (or so I thought) so I bought a 14. How could I pass it up...coat was regularly $399 on sale for $159.

It got here...and was HUGE. I was dumbfounded. I checked the tags...it's apparently a 14/20. Mine is a 6/12. Big difference. They used the British size instead of the American size. Grrr and double grrrr. Not a huge bait and switch thing, but I'm still not happy to have a huge coat that I can't wear.

Edited for hugs all around...especially jimi and msg

MsG: Hope the observation went well...gotta love the random ones...("What the?!...Oh well, onward and forward....")

NVG: Glad to hear it's not gone...hope that she's getting the help she needs to straighten out her issues. (Really don't want to see you stuck being her "knight" and holding the bag -- you deserve so much better than that from her or anyone else.)

Today was better than the last two...found my "brain" last night (thumb drive/flash drive/whatever) in a pocket in my bag that I didn't think to look in.... I feel like an idiot for that one. State testing today for my 1st period (oh they loved that news...not!)

6 "mini-labs" set up for my other classes after we corrected the homework. The labs was a great carrot (and stick) to dangle in front of them, and should keep them from complaining how the class is all lecture and not much else....I actually had kids stay in class to do more of the labs!! *insert jaw dropping here* *am amazed*

Okay, going to try and run away as soon as I can...for some "unknown" reason (had to raise my voice a lot today to be heard...very noisy day) my throat is dry. *heh*
