So as not to have to listen to an entire podcast, might you elaborate on said tidbit, summarize it, perhaps, in your own words?

Pretty please?

Since I also was intrigued by this comment, I went and listened to the podcast.

The bit he refers to is about a guy ("Jason") from SA e-mailing the Signal about an audition he went to.

He went to an audition for a part in "The Scorpion King - Rise of the Akkadian" The auditions were held in South Africa, with executives from Universal flying over to check out the auditionees (is that a word? It is now!) Anyway, after his audition, and as he walked out, he asked the executives, "So are you doing a Serenity sequel or what?" One of the guys answered, "I think so, do you want a part in it?"

He says he's not sure whether the guy was joking or not, but at least it shows that Serenity isn't forgotten, in that the executives were aware of the desire for a sequel.

'k?

Thanks, Canter!

Shiny!

*Ponders what might have been goin' through the mind of a Universal exec to be casually sayin' somethin' so potentially loaded...*

I suspect he probably wasn't thinking. Again, I don't think Universal has made up its mind, but I am more and more sure that the idea is being talked about.

I really don't think that many of the studio exec's understand how this fan base is different from say, the fans for some of the other franchises out there (Fantastic Four comes to mind). Universal should since they got the Startrek fan base to review but remember, they are about making money, not specifically about their product.

It would appear that Joss has spoken, and, the news is, we hold... Indefinitely.

"His take on the Wonder Woman movie was scotched by studio heads and, rumors aside, there is no Serenity sequel in works. At least not yet. "Right now, nobody has any plans to do any kind of sequel," he explained in a brief phone interview. "If they do, I hope they'll include me, because if I find out Brett Ratner is directing it, I'm going to be so mad." The occasion for the interview was the DVD release of Angel: Complete Series"

Not an imaginary story, sounds like Joss has spoken, and, not to tell us that we're gettin' a sequel... Right now.

So, relax, put some more bao in the steamer, we're gonna be here, a while.

Keep the faith.

Well, I tried to to get my hopes too far up ;-) I am still watching the series and still seeing things I missed so I can stand to wait a bit more. Take Care All.

Joss didn't say there's no sequel. He said he doesn't know about one. Which, honestly, does explain why he hasn't said anything in so long.

What interests me is that he seemed to think there might be someone else working on it without him. That would be heresy...

Could it be that someone is working on it, but hasn't actually approached him yet, because it's not solid at this point?

That was a joke. Joss has a weird sense of humor.

I think the part about Brett Ratner was a joke, but I'm not so sure the rest of it was. "If they do, I hope they'll include me..." seemed like it was sincere. Hope it was a joke though.
