Hey y'all!

Sorry about the dress trouble 'Bug, that sucks. Every girl needs to be able to splurge on a great holiday dress! I didn't realize you lived in such a small town (I forget sometimes that we still have those in California, lol). And here I am surrounded by great shopping (there's a Tiffany's about 15 minutes away -- not that I would ever buy anything there, but damn their window is pretty!), and yet I go to a Jo Ann Fabrics and make my dress at home, lol. Have you tried Nordstrom.com or Macys.com? They have a surprising number of formal dresses online.

Btw, I saw your note about MSCL the other day. So awesome! Now the question is, do I put it on my Christmas wishlist and put up with my siblings teasing me about my love of 90s grunge, or do I Netflix it and watch it with all the windows and doors locked?

Shoes? I only have 13 pairs, and feel like I have no place to put all of them. For some reason I've just never been terribly interested in owning lots of shoes.

Girls chasing guys? I support and encourage gals making the first move, but I think the default is and should still be a guy asking a girl out. Nothing wrong if a woman wants to make the first move, but I don't think a guy should expect it. Then again, I just finished reading yet another study on how women cannot get respect in the work place, are penalized for the same actions that men are rewarded for, and are seen as bad leaders -- this is even worse in an industry like mine that is only about 10% female. So maybe this isn't the best day to ask me. Guys, you make more money and don't get penalized for showing emotion in the work place, so get off your asses and ask women out. It's the least you can do.

Well, to be fair, it's not THAT small...we just have had a no growth initiative for about a bazillion years that finally has morphed into a 'slow growth' thing. Still, clothes shopping is and has always been terrible.

Although if I need a hammer there are about 10 hardware stores including a Home Depot within 5 miles. And there are plans for a Lowe's soon. I love me some power tools, but enough is enough.

CK...I should hire you to make a dress for me. The first dress I wanted to by was at Nordstrom's. Then I found the other two at Bluefly...that I can't get. Then the one that I decided as a fall back was Nordie's again...but it's not in stock until end of Nov. I did order from them in the end, though. They always send me tempting e-mails with pretty dresses.

I'm trying to decide what to do about MSCL...I really want it NOW, but I should wait for my bank account to settle down from some recent vet bills. Self-control...

Yay CK is still alive! The fires didn't bug you too much then? I'd expect a much more depressed tone if your house got hit. How's the smoke? Still yucky there?

How did the hubby like your blood elf Halloween costume?

And what is your opinion about the new Joss series? I'm giddy.

Why feel bad about it? I love 80's hair band music, and play it loud and proud! to anyone who objects or teases.

I agree for the most part. As a shy, self hating teeenager, I didn't realize how I really looked to girls until about 10 years later, when my emotional side finally matured beyond 13. Looking back, there were quite a few girls who had been giving me signals that I was to dense to get. I coulda had a GREAT time in high school! Aw well, at least one of them I did finally recognize, and we are heading for anniversary #14.
As my wife says, frequently, "Guys are dumb".

PS What is MSCL?

My So Called Life. Another prematurely cancelled, yet critically acclaimed series. Starred Claire Danes.

Chalk me up as another 80s lover...except the alternative 80s...not the R&B 80s...and not the hair band 80s (although, if I wash my hair and then just let it air dry I can do a mean impression of one).

Lol, hi there Zeek! Yeah we pulled through the fires just fine. The fire never got closer than the mile and a half it was at that first night. Still haven't unpacked the emergency evacuation bags, but that's mostly because I've been lazy, lol. The smoke is still really really bad. It looks like a heavy fog, though most of the smell and the visible ash are gone now (well, there's still ash on everything, but you can't see it in the air anymore). The doctors on the news have recommended against exercising outdoors at all until the end of the month. Until the day of the fire, hubby and I were walking in the mornings and the evenings, so it's been weird not walking at all now.

No blood elf costume, silly Zeek! It's been several years since I dressed up as a game character, though I do always look at character costumes with an eye for sewing. Nah, I ended up not dressing up at all this year. The friends of ours who usually have a Halloween party were going to go to another party in San Diego (I think it got cancelled because of the fires, not sure), and with the new diet we're not eating any sugar and our alcohol is fairly limited, so most of the activities we read up on that were going on in the area sounded kind of meh. I was kind of bummed over the weekend, since I love Halloween, but I'm over it now, just looking forward to all the holiday stuff we have planned (hubby's first time to see the Nutcracker, Christmas with my parents in Austin, then Disney World with my family all in the space of two weeks!).

My sisters brought the costume love though. One dressed up as Kaylee, and the other's boyfriend dressed up as Jayne (wearing a hat that I knitted!) while my sister went as a Fox Executive. I have yet to see pictures, but I'm sure they were way awesome.

And I saw the news about Joss's new series. I'm more than a little concerned about Joss working with Fox again, and where that would put things like the next Serenity comic, but I'm sure the show itself will be great (even if we end up having to once again by the DVD to see those 7 episodes). OTOH, it's looking like the Writers Guild will strike very soon, which means that Joss won't be working on Dollhouse at all for maybe even months. I think he could work on the comics during the strike though (and video games, if we're talking pipe dreams here ), so maybe we won't lose him to Dollhouse completely. So I'm excited about more JossTV, but more than a little worried about how it will actually work out.

Eek...whatever I typed made it look like I don't like 80s alternative. THAT's what I like. Going to edit my post.

I doubt you're in town early enough but the local Browncoats are doing a laser tag re-enactment of the battle of serenity (I think it's just regular laser tag) on the 12th of Dec. Sounds fun enough to me. So, I'll be going for sure. I'm trying to trick other friends into going by not mentioning the re-enactment portion. They'd get scared.

Yeah we're not flying out until the 24th. (I love flying on Christmas Eve, I'm a freak, I know.) That sounds like fun though! Been way too long since I went to laser tag.

Well, making money (or even saving it by repairing stuff) beats my having to spend money for a new laptop, since mine died yesterday. (Don't get me wrong, the new one is all kinds of powerful and shiny, I just hate having to spend $1k+ for a new laptop and et cetera.) Plus the hi-larious horror story of just trying to drive to CompU*A (a 10-15 minute drive normally took over one hour because of funky road work happening on a gorramn Saturday...)

Anyhow...*grins and does a Tahitian hip-BUMP*

If these have been answered he before I appologize, but what did the crew of Sernity ever do with the ambulance the salvaged from the junkyard in "Ariel," or how about Jubal Early's ship form "Objects in Space?" I would think the crew could get rich from these two objects, or if not from the ambulance they probably could donate it to an outer moon for many needed favors.

mornin' Imponderables.

Though it never says it, I assume that they dumped the Ambulance so that they wouldn't have a huge piece of damning evidence on their ship in case they were stopped. As for Early's ship, well, it flies off under it's own power after River exits it, which leaves a lot of room for speculation (I have seem several fanfics that dealt with the issue).

On a related note, I know the guy who found the Ambulance after the series was cancelled and is working on restoring/displaying it.

LOL HUGS NV...yup When my brother was asking his wife who they should get to baby sit, Wyatt piped right up with "YaYa" ( keep in mind he only knows 15 or 20 words total) it was so cute that of course I had to rush right over and babysit. It was time for his nap and he snuggled up with me, gave a big sigh, and in a dreamy little voice said " Ya Ya" I just melted..

HUGS Neko and hip bumps right back...ok at some point they do actually learn a concept right???

Yeah. They've had it for a while now, and have taken it to several Cons. They even got it signed by several cast members and writer Jane Espensen. We are trying to figure out a way for them to bring it to DragonCon one year.
