I love it when a character goes slightly crazy and the filmmakers add a flash of images to illustrate it. On DVD, it is actually fun to sit down with it paused and go through each frame, one by one. (See Spider-Man 2 when Harry throws the dagger into the mirror towards the end of the film, just before discovering his dad's Green Goblin stash.) Oddly, I haven't done that with Serenity until now.

When River has one of her "flashy" moments in the Maidenhead just before the fight, there is one odd frame that doesn't seem to fit (yet). There is part of a face shown in blue light. It appears to be an older, feminine face. You can find it at 0:33:47 on the time-counter. I'm thinking it's someone in the Parliament, maybe the person that River gleaned Miranda from, considering the lighting is the same as the academy. But I could be wrong. It could also be her grandmother or someone on Miranda.

Of course, now is the fun time because we get to hypothesize. Any ideas who this might be?

Wow! Good, good eye! If you're into this kind of thing, I would look at some of the cut scenes in Angel...there's a ton of hidden stuff and injokes there.

I have no eartly idea who that is, but, I'm far from any kind of authority. But, you've certainly given me something to look into.
