I used to work for a TV/film studio. (I'm not going to name which, but I assure you it wasn't associated with 2--h C-----y F-x in any way!) I worked in the administrative offices part time. My job was to answer the main phone line, sort mail, make copies, and answer e-mails, among other various tasks. It was peon work really.

Usually, the e-mails were very upbeat and positive. There was a lot of fan mail (mostly from teenage girls—don’t ask!) and a lot of inquiries on how to start film projects or get into the business. But on occasion, I would get the e-mails that were negative. If they were very angry and offensive, they would be ignored and deleted immediately. If they were negative but well written, they would be passed on to the appropriate parties (usually producers). For some reason, my boss (an executive, hisssss!) thought the producers should only see the well written ones. (I never understood my boss's reasoning on this and a lot of other things. To say the least, I was a bit nutty when I left the company. And, I'll never go back unless he leaves because I liked working with everyone else very much.)

Anyways, my point is that the first person to read these e-mails is going to be some poor intern or some minimum-wage employee who is trying to learn the business. And, these kinds of e-mails can actually go to the right people and sway those people to make changes if the letters are effective enough.

This isn't a 100% guarantee, though. Ever studio system is different. However, I do know that SciFi survives on its fans. So, chances are they will listen to a massive amount of well written e-mails from us Browncoats. Though, the important thing here is to keep writing those e-mails and sending in those postcards or letters!

I really have to say that its very unlikley and
y TV/Movie based firefly stuff will be made again. I think the window has gone. We had the dvd, then the collectors edition,, sales for both have now dropped down. Joss has a new project, the actors are getting older (its not like Star Trek where i think they can get away with it as Joss' writing is geered towards the younger/middle generation). All we can hope for is lots of books, comics, etc.

I hope I'm wrong I really really do.

This post was actually aimed at the people who were writing letters to the SciFi Channel about cutting last night's marathon in half, but I posted it as a new thread for so anyone who is sending those e-mails/letters/postcards for general reasons can understand what can happens once the studio receives them.

Plus, I haven't given up myself on a sequel. Sometimes it can take a long time to get a project going in Hollywood. The script for Unforgiven bounced around from studio to studio for 20 years before Clint Eastwood picked it up and turned it into a multi-Oscar award winning film. Have faith.
