I know that FOX had whatever reasons they came up with to cancel shows like Wonderfalls, Futurama, and The Family Guy... also Firefly.

However, how many awards has Firefly been nominated for? Emmies? Hugos? etc?

Does anyone know for certain? Seems to me that there have been a lot.

It also seems to me that whereas from an executive's point of view low ratings = bad business... the excessive amount of awards that Firefly was nominated for should have given those executives some faith that it could grow into something GREAT (as if it wasn't already *Skoff*). It should have set Firefly apart from the rest of their shows sent to the cancelation graveyard.

So what's the total count for awards won and nominated for?

Zeke, Zeke, poor naive, innocent Zeke...

... haven't you learned, Fox is the tangible-world portal for the 9th level of Hell, and their assorted evil workings?

[pats Zeke on head, smiles sadly]

Fox obviously gave us Firefly for reason--to punish us for being righteous. Fox wanted us to suffer, so they gave us a tremendously creative, innovative, and all around intelligent and GOOD show... and as soon as people starting to like it and see what could come from the mind of talented people...

... they yanked it away from us... because Fox, being the Source Of All That Is Evil, Wrong, And Basically Bad On Television... they cannot abide creativity, intelligence and goodness. Hence, the proliferation of The Swan, American Idol, Totally Outrageous Behavior, The World's Craziest Videos, MadTV, My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance... sorry, got caught in an unholy groove there...

Shows like "Firefly" and "Wonderfalls" are Fox's way of finding the intelligent people in the mass demographics, and destroying them in a rain of Reality TV-brimstone...

You know what I find *ESPECIALLY* annoying about the tv show, The Swan? (Not that I've ever watched it or will ever watch it!)

My last name is Swan and every time I see it here in the ng it catches my attention and then I get a brand new surge of annoyance that this appalling, degrading, insulting goh se continues to thrive while FF was killed.

Fox sucks. No, scratch that, they suck mooseballs. No, actually, they suck the SWEAT from mooseballs. No, actually again, saying Fox sucks the sweat from mooseballs is an insult to the mooseball-sweat-suckers of the world, and I apologize to the mooseball-sweat-sucker community for erroneously including Fox into their comparitively-enlightened group.

Actually, I think that was for Nathan's former role.

I think that was just a joke on the commentary, that Nathan won for "2 Guys, a Gal and a Pizza Place (and a bad premise)". The Saturns are awards presented by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films, created in 1972. As such, 2GaGaaPP (and a bad premise) doesn't qualify, unless you're fantasizing that the series was good television.

Their site doesn't mention the category "Face of the Future", that I can find; but, the nominees for the 30th annual award in the category of Best DVD Television Release are (drum roll, please):

Battlestar Galactica Complete Epic Series (Universal)
The Complete Firefly (Fox, with soft 'u' sound)
Hercules: The Legendary Adventures 1 – 2 (Anchor Bay)
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine 1 – 7 (Paramount)
Steven Spielberg Presents Taken (DreamWorks)
Wiseguy, Season 1, Part 1 – 2 (Studioworks)

I reckon it'll be tough to beat Spielberg, even though "Taken" suuuuuuh-uuuuuuh-uuuucked! And it took a whole week to do it (under some circumstances, not a bad thing, but in film horrible). Still, people in Hollywood line up for blocks for just a chance to kiss Stevie Boy's backside, so expect to be disappointed by the result in this category...

Actually, I'd bet on Deep Space Nine being the formost challenger for that title. Taken got good numbers, but it hasn't gotten much attention since.

America loves a winner!

Yep, well said. When the 'Independent thought' alams started sounding across the country when Firefly, John Doe, or Wonderfalls came on, FOX TV swept into action.

" Why, these show don't conform w/ the megolithic, Corp T.V. approved diet for building mindless viewers! It must be stopped, AND STOPPED NOW! " , or something close to that was over heard from a board room at FOX TV not long after Firefly aired.

" They don't like it when you shoot at 'em. Worked that out myself. "

Was he the Invisible Man in the movie? There's the face of Fox' future dramatic actor. (zoid said, biting his tongue in the process, because it was entirely too deep in his cheek)

Seriously, where are young actors and actresses going to work if 'reality' continues to strangle their opportunities on...

...TV? (Because 'reality' and 'TV' don't belong in the same sentence, and are more politely used in separate paragraphs)
