Apparently, FOX has decided to place Firefly into a potential midseason replacement... it's not even secured a midseason place! I'm so worried, especially when shows like "Fastlane," a TV version of the Fast and the Furious, and "Save the Last Dance," a TV adaptation of the film of the same name have secured spots on the line-up! This justs shows that FOX has no care for quality television and is dedicated to producing absolute crap!

Now, let me go hide in a dank secluded spot and...

(by the way, this is my first post, yeah!)

yeah fox sucks. has for a long time. the only hope i see for firefly is if maybe tnt or scifi pick it up. but scifi must be very starpped for cash between farscape (what 1 mill per episode) and stargate. didnt i read that this shows pilot cost 10 mill?

Yeah, we shouldn't panic until Thursday. It'd be insane for Fox not to pick up the show, considering JW's track record.

If they do not decide to air it, he should go back to the WB, the Mikey of TV networks who'll air anything.

BOOK

Actually that's not entirely true... Fox already commited to episodes of Firefly. They already ordered them which means their being made and will likely go on their midseason lineup. This is a puzzling descision, though, either they couldn't find a right timeslot (Thanks to WB putting Angel in Firefly rumored spot Sunday 9/8C ) Or they didn't like the premiere at all and decided that they'd wait on the series. But lets be realistic it's from Joss... so it's obviously the timeslot thing.

If you look at Foxx's timeslots:
Sunday 7/8C: Simpsons -occupied
Sunday 9/8C: Can't because of Angel
Monday 7/8C: Boston Public -occupied
Monday 9/8C: Fox wanted another show to pair with one David Kelly's series which means another girly chick lawyer show.
Tuesday:8/7C: Buffy, hello.
Tuesday 9/8C: Probably full unless 24 is canned and still looking at heavy sci-fi competition from Smallville.
Wednesday 8/7C: Enterprise... don't need two spaceship shows on at the same time.
Wednesday 9/8C: Bernie Mac- occupied
Thurday 9/8C or 8/7C: Thanks to Friends and CSI nothing will survive on this night.
Friday 8/7C: Dark Angel
Friday 9/8C: Friday is a tough night plus they make get competition from Farscape, but the Dark Angel lead in wouldn't be horrible. But it would be hard to gain a following on this night.
Saturday: Cops and America's Most Wanted - occupied

So really if you look at the schedule, save Sunday night, Firefly didn't have a lot of options. Thanks to The WB theres now even less. So midseason isn't that bad because Fox can look how things are panning out and find the best spot. Remember buffy was a midseason replacement.

TIEKA

I know a lot of us are JW fans, so a conflict with Angel or Buffy is bad, but think of it from FOX's side. Do they think that Firefly will work in the Sunday slot? A lot of people are used to X-files on Sunday night, so they may be hoping for that large audience just tuning in anyway. Sunday is about the only night that Fox doesn't air _when goldfish swim_ type of programming. I'm hoping that Fox will use that Sunday slot just to get Firefly on the air.

Yeah, I know, taping on two different channels means I'd have to get a second vcr or else wait for the repeats/rebroadcasts later in the week, but if it means getting Firefly started sooner, I'd go for it.

I'm just curious if Joss has any say over when his shows air?

"Firefly, from Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon, was originally expected to debut in the fall. The series, which is set aboard a spaceship in the future, is reportedly being reworked to step up its action. "

"hey can you blow more stuff up? i like it when things blow up" thats what that last line says to me. i hoe this show isnt a stillbirth.

Fox Juggles Lineup for Fall

With former linchpins "Ally McBeal" and "The X-Files" now gone, Fox is expected to make some major shifts in its primetime lineup for the upcoming fall season, Variety reports. One of the biggest changes involves the network's Sunday-night schedule, which had been anchored by "The X-Files." The sci-fi drama will be replaced by "Malcolm in the Middle" at 9 p.m. ET and the new Randy Quaid sitcom "The Grubbs" at 9:30 p.m. Replacing "Malcolm" in the post-"Simpsons" slot at 8:30 p.m. will be "King of the Hill," which had been buried in the 7:30 p.m. slot. That time period will now be occupied by the family sitcom "Oliver Beene." "Futurama" will remain at 7 p.m., and the long-running "Simpsons" will stay at 8 p.m. On Mondays, "McBeal" will be replaced by "Girls Club," another series involving female lawyers, at 9 p.m. Meanwhile, "24" will return -- with its original, hour-at-a-time format, and possibly taking place a year later -- on Tuesday nights; the hit comedy "Bernie Mac" will move to Wednesdays at 8 p.m.; and "Dark Angel" is still questionable for Friday nights, according to Variety. "Andy Richter Controls the Universe" and the remake of "Time Tunnel" are reportedly on tap for midseason. Shows not making the cut as of Tuesday were "Undeclared," "That '80s Show," "Titus," "Greg the Bunny" and "Family Guy," Variety reports.

Talk about thread necromancy.
