I want your 10 favorite "comfort" movies... I'm not talking about your favorite movies, I'm talking about those few movies that you ALWAYS stop to watch when flipping the channel, even if its in low def, on a channel with commercials, with the swear words edited out, in Spanish... Heres mine in alphabetical order.

1) The 40 Year Old Virgin - This movie is just funny from begining to end, limitless awesome lines.

2) The Big Lebowski - This Coen brothers classic is just as deep and inciteful as it is fall down funny. every viewing brings something new. I am an Achiever.

3) The Boondock Saints - Anyone who's seen it knows what I'm talking about.

4) The Fifth Element - I don't know what it is about this campy Sci-Fi schlock, but I can't turn away. A real guilty pleasure.

5) Good Will Hunting - Even if Afleck is a poon now, he helped write this well done line-fest... he can do all of the pearl harbors he wants and still be in my cool book.

6) Grandmas Boy - I'm not sure why this has such a tractor beam on me...but I can't get enough.

7) Hidalgo - I don't know what it is about a horse movie, I'm a sucker.

8) Out Of Sight - This is one of the few Elmore Leonard novels transfered to screen correctly... awesome quirky noir-light.

9) Serenity - "It won the oscar for greatest movie ever!" which brings us to...

10) Talladega Nights - Please read what I wrote for 40 Year Old Virgin... it applies here as well.

Now lets hear yours...

"Smellin' alot of IF comin' offa' this plan!"

There are a few movies I heavily favor when I'm doing doing paperwork, cleaning guns, etc.
I guess these are my comfort movies. (In no particular order):

The Fifth Element and Serenity as already mentioned.
Blade Runner
Aliens

10 requires too much thought, so I'll stop at 4.

CLEMENTINE

Coming from an entirely different direction:
1. Breakfast at Tiffany's
2. Bridget Jones Diary (even though I have it on disc)
3. My Fair Lady
4. Bite the Bullet (gritty western about a long distance race)
5. Around the World in 80 Days (so light it floats)
6. The Odd Couple (talk about a line fest)
7. The Mummy
8. Aliens (always terrifying)
9. The Day the Earth Stood Still (I love me some Michael Rennie)
and of course
10. Serenity (even though I have Widescreen and CE discs)

If I took more time, I might change some answers but this is pretty good.

I know one "comfort" movie I like to watch whenever it's on tv is DIE HARD WITH A VENGEANCE. I know it's not considered to be the best of the Die Hards, but I love seeing Bruce and Sam bicker with each other. They should do another movie together. They're always great when they share the screen.

6) Pulp Fiction
7) When Harry Met Sally

KWICKO

"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." -- William Casey, Reagan's presidential campaign manager & CIA Director (from first staff meeting in 1981)

1. "Creator", with Peter O'Toole, Virginia Madsen, Vincent Spano, and Mariel Hemingway. Wonderful movie, one of the best movies that no one's ever seen. Unfortunately, it's also rarely on TV - so I put in my old VHS tape!

2. Serenity, or course.

3. Blade Runner.

4. 2001: A Space Odyssey.

5. A Man For All Seasons. This is a big-screen, big-budget historical epic on par with Lawrence of Arabia. It won a fistful of Oscars, if memory serves. It deals with Sir Thomas More, King Henry VIII, and the split between England and The Church. Wonderful verbal parrying between Sir Thomas and his foes.

6. Forrest Gump.

7. Caddyshack.

8. Napoleon Dynamite.

9. The Breakfast Club.

10. Superbad.

YINYANG

You were busy trying to get yourself lit on fire. It happens.

The only ones I can think of are Men in Black, Armageddon, The Fifth Element, and Dogma - if these four are on TV, you can bet I'm there watching them. The weirdest part is that I've watched The Fifth Element and Dogma on TV more than video or DVD, despite the fact that I own them both.
