BARCLAY

First, I'd like to compliment the chef on the site. This is my first post, despite the fact I've been around on the site for a month or so. I first watched Firefly when it came out on Fox, but the time slot and lack of a pilot made it impossible for me to hook on to (damn Fox). But when I saw the DVD was coming out, something inside of me told me to buy it, and I did, and I've been wearing my brown coat for 4 months now (and have passed out 7 other coats as well...)

But my question here is partly a response to the weekly poll ("What should happen to the franchise once Serenity comes out?") Has anyone considered the possibility of Firefly being produced for syndication? No network to guide the focus of the show, and Firefly's format seems well suited to other shows currently (or previously) in syndication. Star Trek Deep Space Nine ran completely in syndication, ditto Hercules, currently Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda. I think Firefly could be successful in this forum. Not to mention, any bad show can live in syndication (VIP ran for 3 years even), so something as good as Firefly could probably stay around as long as they want it to.

Any thoughts?

SHINY

Not sure what the economics of straight-to-syndication would be, though. Firefly wasn't super cheap to produce, with the set and CGI (although presumably the construction of the set would already be done for the movie, and maybe they'd just have to pay for renting the lot the set was on...)
