OTTB - What do you base this "panic" on? They aren't about to cancel one of the few hit shows of the season.

The only thing that makes me at all nervous is that the idiot, Kevin Reilly, who cancelled Surface is now in charge of the show's future, but there's no point in sending letters and getting all worked up at this stage.

Hell, I don't think you could get much support anyway. The fans here aren't even supporting Firefly in the Voting Poll, even though Xena is threatening to take the lead. - Jstn

Wonder if you can listen to the show while you work ? There are some very quotable lines , even some Firefly-ish ones...And that's all GOOD !

Meanwhile , just yesterday , at Tv Guide Online , a fan asked Matt Roush about the show's possible future , and this was the reply :

Matt Roush: " I still think it's too early to know how or if Terminator will fit into Fox's game plan for next season, whether for fall or midseason. You may be right that if the show is doing well in the off-network marketplace, as genre shows like this tend to do, that could make it a better candidate for renewal than its decent (but hardly spectacular) numbers might suggest. With a new Terminator feature film also on the horizon, I'm a bit confused just how this series fits into the franchise's overall scheme. But I've been enjoying it and am looking forward to tonight's two-hour finale. "

Anyone have a link to the numbers for the show?

What are these "multiple sources"?

I know what TV Guide had to say, but their heads have always been up in...how should I say...the black, since I've read them. I don't think they've ever predicted a successful show.

So if your other sources are like that, I wouldn't put much stock in them.

I'm not saying you shouldn't send in letters of support actually. I just don't think you are at the "alarm" stage, until you get more evidence of a real threat.

The fact is the network is pouring a lot of resources into the show, something NBC NEVER did with Surface. I doubt that do that if it were on the short list.

Personally, I no longer allow myself to get attached to shows. I have been through this crap way too many times.

Network programmers haven't the brains they were born with, and even less taste. Ultimately they will do whatever they want regardless of how the fans feel about it.

We spent two years struggling to get them to listen to our pleas to bring back Surface. In that time the only response we heard was from a Kevin Reilly interview, where he condesendingly stated something to the effect of, "Oh that fish show. I still can't get those fans out of my inbox"

Nice, huh?

Of course, I realize I'm preaching to the choir here. If the execs had a clue, they'd have brought Firefly back in a hot second, after seeing the kind of dedication you guys brought to the table.

In conclusion, I'll quote an old friend of mine who once told me...

"Considering the purpose of television is to sell soap, we are lucky we have any quality programs at all"

I never forgot that, and have been reminded of the truth of it many times since.

When the digital scam is shoved down our throats next year, I'm just gonna stop watching TV altogether.

None of us need the garbage they bring into our homes and force on our children anyway. They keep saying they need to put this crap on because the kids of today are so different and more sophisticated, yet my 11 yr old loves to watch I Dream of Jeanie, Bewitched, The Brady Bunch, and Get Smart, so that's just another crock to justify their stupid programming choices.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I wasn't aware the show was in trouble. Wouldn't surprise me since I like the show & it is on Fox. That is just a recipe for disaster.

I have turned some friends on to the show, but I will check it out online and have them do so as well.

Do we have the #s for the show to date?

I really appreciate the points you're making , although this isn't intended as a 'debate' thread' , it's really one of support for our beautiful mei-mei , Summer Glau...

But , it seems that somewhat inadvertently , you actually keep making our points for us...

You say that you no longer get attached to shows , but you keep 'carping' about how Kevin Reilly humped you guys over the 'fish' show...

You apparently worked hard to create your board , organize fans , and DO SOMETHING about television that you cared about...

Apparently , you are still attached to the message board that you created , and with good reason...

You know that over 10 million people watched the final produced episode of 'Surface'...And it still got canceled... Was that a satisfying ending for you ?

I wouldn't think so...You claim that Fox wouldn't pour in money to support Sarah Connor Chronicles if the show were at risk...

Fact is , they ARE supporting the show , and it's one of the most expensive TV shows being produced today...I can tell you that there are FEWER people watching it than watched that last episode of 'Surface'...

But , they're doing more to support Sarah Connor and virtually all their other shows by making them available at 'Fox On Demand' via the Ninny-Net...

What we Browncoats would've given to have had that sort of support for Firefly...We might've had a different outcome if we'd been able to see our show over and over again , with a network-sponsored streaming link...Firefly might've been able to get to its feet...There's a persistent and fallacious myth that Firefly didn't pay its own way while it was being broadcast , but it's a 'damn lie' . Firefly WAS a 'profitable' show , even while it was still on...But , the network has to be convinced , even through all its famed and legendary ineptness , that SOMEBODY is watching the show...

What are we supposed to do , wait until the network has officially canceled Sarah Connor and then 'start trying' to get the show back ?

Too much 'if' comin' offa that plan !

I'm glad that you weren't around during the American Revolution , and that our country never had to count on you to get the word out about something...You might've called Paul Revere an 'alarmist' !

But , as it turned out , the British REALLY WERE coming !
