For the first time since Sept 13, 2007, the Xenites have broken 800 votes!
So what?
Who cares?
What does this have to do with me?

It's simple folks:
Firefly has been in 1st place for 29 weeks. Our daily votes totals have been falling for most of that time. Our daily votes have now fallen low enough that Xena can beat us.

All I'm asking is one (1) vote from you each day http://richlabonte.net/tvvote. No need to install potentially dodgy (it ain't, but I understand) software to remind yourself, no risking a popup at an inoportune moment at work, or invoking the wrath of the IT department. Just one vote each day per Browncoat will make the difference. More of course is better, but all I'm asking is 1.

(Reposted from previous thread:)

Manual mornin' stats VOMP!

[Wet 'n' wild!](not a repost)

http://richlabonte.net/tvvote

http://www.richlabonte.net/tvvote

http://richlabonte.net/tvvote/index.html

ALL three links work for voting, so if you have trouble getting into the site in heavy traffic you can try an alternate address instead. I recommend bookmarking them all, for rapid transition, if you have trouble voting.

You can only nominate one show per hour, at:

http://richlabonte.net/tvvote/nominations.html

Voting efficiently (i.e., with minimal time between votes, over the requisite 60 minutes) is crucial to maximizing your voting power. Download FlyVote by FlyVote (a fellow Browncoat voter, so, you know the program is good!). It'll remind you when it's time to vote, each hour: http://usbmicro.com/misc

Top two shows as of this morning:

(Statistics in parentheses are previous day's stats, for comparison purposes)

Total votes Firefly: 580,194 (579,135)

Total votes Xena: 473,000 (472,294)

Yesterday, Browncoats voted 1,059 times (1,069).

Yesterday, Xenites voted 706 times (702).

(Xenites voted 353 (367) times less than Browncoats, yesterday.

Yesterday, Browncoat votes fell by 10; Xenite votes rose by 4.

Firefly is 107,194 (106,841) votes ahead of Xena, more than the vote total of #23 show House MD 107,089. That puts us at 17,806 (18,159) votes away from a 125k vote lead, about 50.44 (49.48) days!

We got our next banner, for 580,000 votes, today! Shiny!

Our next big goal, 600,000 votes, is 19,806 (20,865) votes, and, 18.7 (19.52) days away!

6,191,156 (6,177,618) votes have been counted as of 03/06/08. Yesterday, 13,538 (13,394) votes were cast. In order to take ownership of 10% of all votes cast in that period, we needed to vote 1,354 (1,340) times, of which we fell short by 295 votes. Our share fell to 9.3713361% (9.3747298%) of all votes ever cast. Our share of the voting pie remains at 9%.

-Raycheetah =^[.]^=

In other TV Vote news (shows whose voters also support Firefly):

#5 show Battlestar Galactica got 589 (567) votes, and, is currently receiving enough votes to overtake #4 show, Gunsmoke, which got 381 (362) votes, yesterday, in 180.33 (183.99) days. BSG is also in pursuit of the 5th Hall of Fame slot, and, is 24,832 (25,421) votes, and, 42.16 (44.83) days, away!

#7 show Buffy got 589 (589) votes, yesterday. Currently, Buffy is receiving enough votes to pass #6 show Farscape, which received 385 (407) votes, yesterday, in 98.23 (109.74) days. Buffy is also in pursuit of the 6th Hall of Fame slot, and, is 52,369 (52,958) votes, and, 88.91 (89.91) days, away, while Farscape is 84.68 (81.05) days from getting there, first.

Buffy's still hard charging in the Hall of Fame race!

#11 show Angel got 494 (499) votes, and, is currently receiving enough votes to pass #10 show La Femme Nikita, which received 235 (217) votes, yesterday, in 1.61 (2.4) days. #12 show Little House on the Prairie got 378 (348) votes, and, is not currently receiving enough votes to pass Angel.

#33 show Dark Shadows got 454 (425) votes, and, is currently on track to pass #32 show, Star Trek: DS9, which received 244 (215) votes, yesterday, in 16.73 (17.73) days.

Thanks, again, for your time, and, for your support of these great shows!

P.S.: For those who are interested in Moonlight in the Nominations Poll:

#52 show (#12 in the Nominations Poll) Moonlight Total votes 18,122 (17,804)

Moonlight got 318 (301) votes, yesterday, not passing any shows. It will take at least 7 days to pass Supernatural.

AND...

Surface 3294
Nash Bridges 3235

Only one show passed, BUT, 113 nominations votes! Great job! The shows we're coming up against are starting to have occasional wide gaps between them. So, even if we do as great as we did, yesterday, there may be times we don't pass many shows. Keep your eye on the daily vote total (which is VERY respectable!) and, on how high the aggregate total is getting.

(Not a vote, but, an informational BUMP!)

I have a theory about the Xenites and their current surge.

We know that Lucy Lawless has a birthday at the end of the month. I think that the Xenites are simply trying to reach a voting goal for her birthday, perhaps even 500k.

Best of luck to them, and, happy birthday, Lucy!

I wish them well in their pursuit. So long as they remember to show a little respect & not pass us.

Then again, getting knocked around for a day or two (or a week) might be what we need to turn out the votes again.

VOMP (Surface) x 2

Hey, I got up late, although I still may be asleep, since I thought I saw an honest woman. I must be dreaming. LOLOLOLOLOLOL

(Jst teasing ladies, don't kill me)

Thanks for all the help yesterday. Surface got 133 nominations. Not a record, but not bad at all.

Ray - I read your post about "vote trades" and all that. I agree with your analysis (particularly the awareness aspect, considering not everyone voting reads these threads), but I want to reassure you that I have "set things up" so that our fans are very aware they are supposed to be supporting Firefly as well. One guy posted today on our "head count" thread that he votes for FF "sometimes" I jumped all over him (politely).

I am certain that everytime you see a Surface total, that number is very close to the number of FF votes for that day.

What do you mean you haven't seen all of Surface yet??? LOLOLOL Maybe while you are on vacation, you can "correct" that. I've watched all of FF 3 times.

Btw, we have a sister site in Germany, that has started to contribute as well. It was a message from the owner of that site, regarding how much support we get here, that prompted my question.

I hope no one felt I was being disrespectful. I really very much appreciate any and all help we get from Firefly fans.

Up from an intermittent (between hourly votes) nap VOMP!

(Anonymous John)

Jstn, I, for one, am always grateful for whatever help any of our friends provide. I just don't want anyone on either team to feel obligated to do anything. That's when resentments and questions of "tit for tat" begin to creep in, and, that's just no good for anyone.

Aside from your surprise appearance on this thread, with your very generous offer of help for Firefly, I have had to carefully foster the friendships of other voting groups, starting with Dark Shadows. It didn't start out with the intent of asking their help; I just saw a group working hard to get a show (which I remembered enjoying in my childhood) into the Top 40, and, I decided to offer them the same advice and encouragement I had Firefly voters.

Then, some DS fans began to mention that they were Browncoats, too ("Vampire Flans," or, "Barnabas Browncoats"), so, naturally, I directed them to voting for Firefly in the Top 40. Then, I mentioned to the Firefly voters that we had this new source of strength, and, asked if we might be able to spare any unused Nominations votes for their cause, and, before we knew it, that's how we became associated with DS as reciprocal voting partners.

The Battlestar Galactica folks actually approached me for a "vote trade," while they were fighting for the #5 spot. Aside from the fact that we had had a failed (lapsed, with some recriminations) pact of that sort, before, and, because the numbers for a straight-up trade wouldn't have favored Firefly, in the long term, I also simply couldn't act as the channel for an arrangement like that, both because I'm not everybody's Captain, and, because I dun like trades.

However, many BSG voters happen to be friends of mine, so, in lieu of that, I offered them my services as Tallymister (a title I don't claim, here, as, we have more'n one statistician, for which I am deeply grateful!), since theirs had quit some months back to raise the baby his wife had just given him. I also gave them my votes, personally, as, they were mine to offer, and, didn't jeopardize Firefly's position in the face of that formidable fandom.

I did ask that, if BSGers weren't nominating anything, for them to help out Dark Shadows, and, they did, helping DS make it into the Top 40, creating another link in the bond between our groups.

Later, after having time to handle the numbers, a while, I could tell that BSG was unlikely ever to be a threat to Firefly, and, I opened up the same, informal connection between Firefly and BSG that I had between Firefly and DS, not a mandated trade, but, a friendly, mutual support, which has endured and enabled all of those involved to thrive, as well as expanding the fandoms of the respective shows.

Buffy and Angel are also involved, as Joss Whedon (and, vampire) shows, and, as may be apparent, have also benefited from their participation. Many voters for these shows already voted for the others; likewise, not all of them are participating, for which there is no onus. But, it helps everyone involved, and, it's nice to have friends, even when, occasionally, you bump into them in the Poll, as Buffy may, should she come up against BSG, again.

I'm also working on inviting Babylon 5 (another especial favorite of mine!) to the voting family; B5 passed 3 shows in the past week, and, would make a great addition to anyone's viewing list, as well!

Now, regarding Surface... Nominations are tougher to coordinate, since many voters already have their own favorites. Additionally, much as I might like to expand the word about your help to us, Jstn, there is already a solid commitment among voters for the other shows for reciprocal nominations support for a certain vampire show which is working its way up... I don't make as big a deal about it, here, as I might, because, I don't want folks to neglect Surface, and, all the support you give us.

So, I wanted to be upfront and honest with you about how I see this sort of arrangement. I love to help out a good friend, and, I appreciate the return of that help, but, it's not necessarily going to be commensurate, and, I acknowledge that.

Finally, with all the give and take between all the shows I've mentioned, it does also point up the fact that, their contributions, Surface included, are what are helping keep our numbers up. We have managed to maintain daily vote totals of 1k+, most weekdays, but, let's face it: Without the Vampire Flans, Colonials, Buffyversers, Babylonians, and, Surfers, we'd be sittin' pretty low in the water.

So, let's all do two things: Support our friends (hey, clicking a few extra boxes when you vote costs you nothing!), and, try to get our core vote back up. If we can show voters for those friendly shows that we're helping them out, it'll encourage more of them to help us out. I'm still working hard to remind our old regular Browncoat voters, as well, but, it's a tough job.

Yours in the cause,

-Raycheetah =^[.]^=

I don't really trust anybody messing with my bike... Truck breaks down, even if a wheel falls off I'll probably be unharmed. Bike breaks down, things can get mighty interesting really fast.
But I need the paper trail to say the work was done "by a qualified mechanic" so that if anything /does/ break, the warranty will be valid (presupposing I live through whatever it is (not much point in the factory replacing the bike if there's no-one to ride it)).

WN - I actually started the Project NIm campaign because Surface was such a great show to bond over with my kid (then 9)

NBC is braindead for not realizing what they had.

Thanks for everyones help with Dark Shadows and BSG

Enjoy the banner.

Thanks, DSF54!

Ni alohao, Browncoats!

Tomorrow, the missus and I are leaving for a vacation on a small border moon called Hawai'i. We'll be gone for about 16 days, with no expectation of cortex access. So, not only will I be unable to vote, I also won't be posting stats, for that period. The day I get back, or, just possibly, the day after, I'll resume posting.

Meanwhile, if anyone else wants to keep up the main numbers, or, at least, post daily totals (I doubt anyone else wants to crunch all the little numbers for a couple hours, each morning), make yourself to home! We still have goals to reach, standards (1k+/day!) to maintain, and, friends to support. I want to come back to see a lot accomplished, dong ma?

Seeyas 'round the 'Verse! A hui hou!

Manual mornin' stats BOMP!

http://richlabonte.net/tvvote/index.html

Total votes Firefly: 581,222 (580,194)

Total votes Xena: 473,708 (473,000)

Yesterday, Browncoats voted 1,028 times (1,059).

Yesterday, Xenites voted 708 times (706).

(Xenites voted 320 (353) times less than Browncoats, yesterday.

Yesterday, Browncoat votes fell by 31; Xenite votes rose by 2.

Firefly is 107,514 (107,194) votes ahead of Xena, more than the vote total of #23 show House MD 107,327. That puts us at 17,486 (17,806) votes away from a 125k vote lead, about 54.64 (50.44) days!

We'll get our next banner, for 585,000 votes, in another 3,778 (4,806) votes, and, another 3.68 (4.54) days!

Our next big goal, 600,000 votes, is 18,778 (19,806) votes, and, 18.27 (18.7) days away!

6,204,049 (6,191,156) votes have been counted as of 03/07/08. Yesterday, 12,893 (13,538) votes were cast. In order to take ownership of 10% of all votes cast in that period, we needed to vote 1,290 (1,354) times, of which we fell short by 262 votes. Our share fell to 9.3684309% (9.3713361%) of all votes ever cast. Our share of the voting pie remains at 9%.

In other TV Vote news (shows whose voters also support Firefly):

#5 show Battlestar Galactica got 543 (589) votes, and, is currently receiving enough votes to overtake #4 show, Gunsmoke, which got 360 (381) votes, yesterday, in 203.97 (180.33) days. BSG is also in pursuit of the 5th Hall of Fame slot, and, is 24,289 (24,832) votes, and, 44.73 (42.16) days, away!

#7 show Buffy got 535 (589) votes, yesterday. Currently, Buffy is receiving enough votes to pass #6 show Farscape, which received 413 (385) votes, yesterday, in 161.03 (98.23) days. Buffy is also in pursuit of the 6th Hall of Fame slot, and, is 51,834 (52,369) votes, and, 96.89 (88.91) days, away, while Farscape is 77.94 (84.68) days from getting there, first.

Buffy's fallen back, a bit, in the Hall of Fame race, but, still has time to make up the difference!

#11 show Angel got 481 (494) votes, and, is currently receiving enough votes to pass #10 show La Femme Nikita, which received 207 (235) votes, yesterday, in .52 (1.61) days. Angel will enter the Top 10, tomorrow!

#12 show Little House on the Prairie got 348 (378) votes, and, is not currently receiving enough votes to pass Angel.

#33 show Dark Shadows got 418 (454) votes, and, is currently on track to pass #32 show, Star Trek: DS9, which received 236 (244) votes, yesterday, in 18.31 (16.73) days.

Thanks, again, for your time, and, for your support of these great shows!

P.S.: For those who are interested in Moonlight in the Nominations Poll:

#52 show (#12 in the Nominations Poll) Moonlight Total votes 18,458 (18,122)

Moonlight got 336 (318) votes, yesterday, not passing any shows. It will take at least 6 days to pass Supernatural.

AND...

Surface 3411
WKRP in Cincinnati 3371

Only one more show passed, BUT, 117 nominations votes! Great job! The shows we're coming up against are starting to have occasional wide gaps between them. So, even if we do as great as we did, yesterday, there may be times we don't pass many shows. Keep your eye on the daily vote total (which is VERY respectable!) and, on how high the aggregate total is getting.

Not to worry Ray. We'll be here when you get back. Let me know which days of data you need & I'll post it for you. I've started keeping full lists of the nominations in addition to the Top40, so barring a cortex failure in my corner of the verse, you're covered.
Speaking of which: Until Ray gets back to us (and even after if you don't mind), it would be much appreciated if someone else (not me 'cause I'm already doing it) would begin saving the Top40 and Nominations lists each day. Ray & I have backstopped each other a couple of times and it's comforting to know that the data won't be lost if I can't get online for whatever reason while he's gone. You don't have to do anything beyond saving the files & posting them if asked. No crunching, no statistical analysis.
If you'd like to help but don't know how, just ask. I'll post a procedure for whichever software you've got.

Thanks, FT! You drive carefully!

Me, I was gonna get a lot done, today, before we left on the trip, but, monsoon season caught up to us before our departure, so, hauling all the recyclables out is gonna have to wait until we get back.

Thanks for covering me on the stats; I C&P the dailies for both the Top 40 and the Noms directly into Yahoo mail, and, archive 'em, there. I'd hate to lose over two weeks, so, I may just have you email 'em to me.

Hungry... Need breakfast VOMP!
