Local Public Television Station plugs Firefly... with a little help from the Chicagoland Browncoats.

The Chicagoland Browncoats helped raise $235 for the Milwaukee Public Television station by donating 4 Firefly themed packages valued at a total of $485 to MPTV's annual great TV auction fund raising event. MPTV serves southeast Wisconsin and the northeast tip of Illinois. Funds raised during the auction help support the future programming needs of the station.

Donated were: 3 Firefly Party Packs each valued at $100 and 1 Firefly Fan Dream Pack valued at $185.

Each Firefly Party Pack Contains:
1 Firefly DVD set
1 Box Cinnabon Flavored Microwave Popcorn
1 Box of 20 assorted tea bags
1 small box of Hazelnut Chocolates
1 Custom Printed XL T-Shirt (Front: I support public televison. Back: And I'm also a fan of Firefly. Joss Whedon's "Serenity" Coming to a Theater in 2005.)
2 $20 Coupons good toward admission to The Browncoat Ball
2 Custom Printed Door Hangers (eg. "Caution - Occupants prone to singing The Hero of Canton during Jaynestown - Enter at Own Risk")
1 Fan Sponsored Firefly Mini-Promo Pack (Contains cards, magnets, and golf tees promoting the DVDs, Movie, and The Browncoat Ball)
1 Thank You Card
all stuffed into a 2 gallon Zip-Lock bag (just barely)

The Firefly Fan Dream Pack Contains:
1 Firefly DVD set
1 Nathan Fillion autograph card (as Caleb from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer")
1 Adam Baldwin autograph card (as Knowle Rohrer from the "X-Files")
3 Gina Torres autograph cards (1 each: as Jasmine from "Angel", as Nebula from "Hercules", and as Cleopatra from "Xena")
1 Gina Torres memorabilia card featuring a fabric swatch from her show worn pants on "Angel"
1 Thank You Card
assembled nice and neat into a Plastic Case (with an ad for the Browncoat Ball)

Each item donated to the auction got a short increment of on-air promotion time while it was being described.

All items donated were free of any unauthorized use of any copyrighted logos, photos, images, trademarks, intellectual property, etc. The only image containing copyrighted elements used was the M80 banner artwork created by 11thhour which we've been encouraged to use to help promote sales of the DVDs. A copyright disclosure noting this was included on the back of the affected packs.

---

All items were captured on tape as they were auctioned off and we're hoping to make available some sort of compilation in case anyone wants a copy for inspirational purposes. I'm not sure when this will happen as the group is busy with Browncoat Ball stuff right now.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Very shiny!

This is a great idea, and an even better way to get word out about the movie and show by having local tv stations plug them.

As the proud winner of 2 of the standard packs (when in the hell did the other one air, I seriously watched that damn auction for a week straight only missing it for Angel), I wanted to thank the Chicgoland BCs for donating to my public TV station!!! I plan on using one of the sets as my 'pass around' DVD set so I can let people borrow it without thinking that they will destroy my one and only copy! I think I also have to have a Firefly party now to suck the rest of my people in with.

But thanks again! I'm giving away the promo stuff with my auctions (I sell Buffy & Angel stuff on ebay) to encourage others to buy FF!!

Today we conquer Milwaukee, tomorrow the world!!!
Thanks again!!
