Manual mornin' stats VOMP!

(Dwarfnom!)

http://richlabonte.net/tvvote

http://www.richlabonte.net/tvvote

http://richlabonte.net/tvvote/index.html

ALL three links work for voting, so if you have trouble getting into the site in heavy traffic you can try an alternate address instead. I recommend bookmarking them all, for rapid transition, if you have trouble voting.

You can vote for more than one show at a time; just check all the boxes you like, then submit your vote, once every hour. You can only nominate one show per hour, at:

http://richlabonte.net/tvvote/nominations.html

Voting efficiently (i.e., with minimal time between votes, over the requisite 60 minutes) is crucial to maximizing your voting power. Download FlyVote by FlyVote (a fellow Browncoat voter, so, you know the program is good!). It'll remind you when it's time to vote, each hour: http://usbmicro.com/misc

This is a NEW version of the program, with new features, including buttons to all three "portals" to the voting page, in case one isn't working, or is overloaded, as well as a button to reset the timer, for those occasions when it gets out of sync, because you don't minimize it immediately after voting. Simply hit the reset and then minimize and you are back on a 1 hour schedule. Download it to replace the older version.

Top two shows as of this morning:

(Statistics in parentheses are previous day's stats, for comparison purposes)

Total votes Firefly: 616,418 (615,459)

Total votes Xena: 494,854 (494,368)

Yesterday, Browncoats voted 959 (1,040) times.

Yesterday, Xenites voted 486 (498) times.

(Xenites voted 473 (542) times less than Browncoats, yesterday.

Yesterday, Browncoat votes fell by 81; Xenite votes fell by 12.

Firefly is 121,564 (121,091) votes ahead of Xena, more than the vote total of #22 show Star Trek: Voyager 121,156. That puts us at 3,436 (3,909) votes away from a 125k vote lead, about 7.26 (7.21) days!

We'll get our next banner, for 620,000 votes, in another 3,582 (4,541) votes, and another 3.74 (4.37) days!

Our next, big goal, 625,000 votes, is 8,582 (9,541) votes, and, 8.95 (9.17) days away!

6,643,803 (6,631,723) votes have been counted as of 04/12/08. Yesterday, 12,080 (12,658) votes were cast. In order to take ownership of 10% of all votes cast in that period, we needed to vote 1,209 (1,266) times, of which we fell short by 250 votes. Our share fell to 9.2780903% (9.2805297%) of all votes ever cast. Our share of the voting pie remains at 9%.

In other TV Vote news (shows whose voters also support Firefly and the Whedonverse, so, let's return the favor, shall we?):

#5 show Battlestar Galactica got 519 (543) votes, and, is currently receiving enough votes to overtake #4 show, Gunsmoke, which got 304 (319) votes, yesterday, in 137.64 (133.07) days. BSG is also closing in on the 5th Hall of Fame slot, and, is 5,169 (5,688) votes, and, 9.96 (10.48) days, away!

#7 show Buffy got 541 (563) votes, yesterday. Currently, Buffy is receiving enough votes to pass #6 show Farscape, which received 303 (338) votes, yesterday, in 52.45 (52.54) days. Buffy is also in pursuit of the 6th Hall of Fame slot, and, is 32,369 (32,910) votes, and59.83 (58.45) days, away, while Farscape 65.63 (59.73) days from getting there, first.

Buffy's still ahead in the Hall of Fame race! Let's vote to keep her there!

#11 show Angel got 465 (494) votes, yesterday. Angel is currently receiving enough votes to pass #9 show Combat!, which received 395 (392) votes, yesterday, in 112.83 (79.68) days (Jericho passed Angel to take the #10 spot. Unfortunately, Angel will have to remain at #11 until he can advance back up past Combat! Let's not get discouraged!)

#15 show Babylon 5 got 433 (437) votes, yesterday, and, is on track to pass #14 show Stargate SG-1, which got 254 (252) votes, in 41.86 (41.47) days.

#30 show Dark Shadows got 365 (421) votes, yesterday, and is receiving enough votes to pass #29 show Charmed, which got 213 (220) votes, in 24.55 (19.32) days.

Thanks, again, for your time, and, for your support of these great shows!

P.S.: For those who are interested in Moonlight in the Nominations Poll:

#48 show (#8 in the Nominations Poll) Moonlight Total votes 30,063 (29,764).

Moonlight got 299 (357) votes, yesterday. It will take 5.45 (5.41) days to pass #47 show Lancer.

AND...

Torchwood 8960
Surface 8733
Barbara Mandrell and the Mandrell Sisters 8718

We passed the sorority of blue-tailed baboons, and we got 161 Nominations votes, an increase on a Friday, no less! It's another 227 votes to pass Torchwood, which gets some pretty decent votes, but, we should be able to pass it in a few days.

AND...

Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends 1084
Friends 1082
John Doe 1077

Some jockeying by the shows ahead of us, but, we'll be slippin' John past Thomas (and Friends!) in another day, if we keep it up!

Jstn - That went well *LOL*

Serious question time folks:

I've been tracking how fast we're pulling away from the #2 show Xena for a while, but she hasn't really been doing so well in the daily votes area. Still #2, and will be for a while, but there're other shows (Jericho, Buffy, BSG & occasionally others) that get more votes.
Is there any objection to me tracking our daily votes against whomever else (in the Top10 for now) gets the most votes that day?
Yeah, yeah, my numbers, I can do what I want, blah, blah. I'm just asking if there's any 'value added' to be found here. Doing the work is a non-issue, it's just a few lines of code.

Ordered a new Reel Type (old style, no engine) mower for the year. I'm hoping this one lasts better than the last few (I wrecked three of 'em last year).
I'm going to keep careful track of this one. Haven't been able to find much information on the coretex about reel mowers (esp. reliability). Maybe I'll start a website for 'em.

Got a late start but... VOMP (Surface)

Looks like Doe did well yesterday. I'll bring you the analysis as soon as I can get some coffee in me.

FT - Jst so happens I used to have a landscaping biz, so I can talk to you about reel mowers after I wake up a bit.

By all means track and analyze the competition. The more info there is available, the more strategic we can be. If someone isn't interested, they can always skip the post, right?

Thanks for all you do. You rock. (Like my new foil hat?)

NOT a VOMP

Jst came by to drop off the..

Surface Daily Report

Yesterday we had 161 Noms, A big improvement. Thankfully Mandrell had a weak day as well so we easily passed her. Calculating in the averages, we are scheduled to take down Torchwood on Monday. If they have any weak days and we have strong ones, it will still take till then, however, we will be in a much better position to start to bridge the gap to Remington Steele.

Keep at it folks.

TAKE NOTE : Only a few shows up is Maverick, which holds the lowest position on the chart of the Top 20 in the Nominations poll. I want that position (for a start LOL)

Maverick Status : 11487 (48 yesterday)

We only have 25 more shows to the top of the list. 5 more to the Top 20.

To see the Top 20 Nominations Chart, click the "Click here for daily totals" link below the Top 40 box. Scroll to the bottom.

Let's get our numbers back to that 200 Nom level. get your friends to help again. Have them sign up at savesurface so they'll receive these reminders too.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Yesterday Barbara hit a real sour note with only 22 Noms. The Mandrell Sisters had better join the Osmond Family if they want to beat Surface.

Surface 8733 (161)
Barbara Mandrell and the Mandrell Sisters 8718 (22)
--------------------------------------------------------------
Targets

The number in parentheses, next to each show, is the previous day's nom total (if available)
Between each show, is the number of noms to the next show.

Remington Steele 9319 (44)

359

Torchwood 8960 (47)

227

Surface 8733 (161)

Thanks for the support guys. I'll get to work on the new section.
Yard work is done vump.
Jstn - I just like 'em. Quiet, so I can mow the lawn early in the morning on the weekends, before it gets too hot; decent work-out a couple of times a week pushing it around a 1/2 acre yard; no pollution; doesn't vibrate my hands to numbness.
Problem is, I /use/ the darn thing. The ones I wrecked were made with plastic gear-trains. I figure they were for people that'd mow a small yard once a week.
The new one is all metal, and based off of the cutter head from a golf course tow-behind model. I've got my hopes up a bit.
I prefer a bit more weight (better work-out) that's more durable to a lightweight that dies.

VOMP (John Doe) this time

FT - In business, I could never afford an attitude of such "luxury" (LOL)

Personally, I'm jst too damn lazy. ROFL

Nonetheless, a little part of me relates to where you are coming from.

Given that, remember a few things.

1/ Do a "logistics run" around the yard, picking up obvious "hazards" such as toys and rocks and anything else that could damage the blades. Memorize any sprinkler locations you might have or better yet use your weedeater/trimmer/whatever you call them where you're from to cut a small area around them.

2/ Wash off the machine and dry the blade edges right afterwards, after every use.

3/ You should be able to find a local shop where the gardeners in your area take their equipment. establish a relationship with the service guys, and get them to sharpen your blades as often and as cheaply as possible. Last time I had to do this in my area, it was in the 25-30 dollar range, but that was a few years back. I would be curious to know what they would charge you now. Remember to emphasize, that you will be bringing it in regularly.

4/ Never let your lawn get too long. The shorter it is, the faster and cheaper it will be to cut.

That's the jst of it.

The key is keeping the blades as sharp as possible. The sharper they are the less strain on the motor, (in this case - YOU) and the gears plastic or otherwise.

You did reel...er...uh...real good getting the metal geared stuff. The old equipment is built waaaaaay better. I have an edger with a motor (and a back up motor) from 1929. While the rings are on their last legs, the iron core of the engine could withstand a full on Reaver/Alliance attack.

I have nothing but respect for what came before.

Anyway, I'm starting to reminice, so I'd better get going before the next vote drops on my head. - Jstn

Nonetheless, a little part of me relates to where you are coming from.

Time I enjoy wasting is not wasted time

Given that, remember a few things.

1/ Do a "logistics run" around the yard, picking up obvious "hazards" such as toys and rocks and anything else that could damage the blades. Memorize any sprinkler locations you might have or better yet use your weedeater/trimmer/whatever you call them where you're from to cut a small area around them.

Big mostly flat yard. Sticks & stones & 'dog bombs' (hit one of those while the blades are spinning & you'll not soon forget it!) are routine search & removal items.
Quote:

2/ Wash off the machine and dry the blade edges right afterwards, after every use.

3/ You should be able to find a local shop where the gardeners in your area take their equipment. establish a relationship with the service guys, and get them to sharpen your blades as often and as cheaply as possible. Last time I had to do this in my area, it was in the 25-30 dollar range, but that was a few years back. I would be curious to know what they would charge you now. Remember to emphasize, that you will be bringing it in regularly.

I'm pretty familiar with sharpening procedures for all sorts of bizarre stuff (straight razors, chisels, knifes, saws, scissors, lawnmower blades, chainsaws...). These appear to center on lapping compounds & polishing. Actually among the simpler procedures I've found, but I'll definitely take it in immediately if I get out of my depth.

4/ Never let your lawn get too long. The shorter it is, the faster and cheaper it will be to cut.

I cut it a few times a week. Could go for a walk through the neighborhood & have nothing to show for it, or walk through the yard & have a nice lawn...

I agree. The older 'durable goods' were far more durable than the ones made today. Sad really. All this fabulous technology available, and I have a 1963 Singer sewing machine that refuses to die that I bought to replace a 1990's model that refuses to work. Vumpin' disposable society.

Never did like Hemingway while I was in school. I may pick up one of his novels to read now that I've a bit more 'perspective' (sounds better than saying I'm old now).
