Wow this is pretty cool!

However, I still think they shouldn't have destroyed the other copies.

Darksiders can keep their cookies. We have better writers.

Grrr. Argghh.

This is FLANTASTIC news... This means that we are still in in the consciousness of the peeps at Universal.

We should all show our apreciation to them and GO SIGN UP FOR THE UNIVERSAL HD FORUMS and start posting there AS much as we post here.

Universal is the only studio paying attention to Firefly right now, we need to get over there and show them how big the browncoat army really is!

We've been told that the destruction was completely accidental. Universal has been great to work with on the "Can't Stop the Serenity" events and it gives them some good PR as well. I don't want to imagine that the folks in the upper levels calling the shots would be that short-sighted.
It's coming together despite the snafu and the organizers are showing their Independent spirit by holding the valley.

It's pretty heartening that Universal isn't just writing this off as an "Oops."

They may not have ponied up the budget for Serenity 2, yet, but, clearly, they still value our fandom.

Shiny!

THEHOPGOBLIN

So here's what takes the shine offa me. Here we are, on the raggedy edge of fandom - still burnin candles for more Firefly. It's been 5-6 years since the series, and 3 since the movie.

We thought new hope was going to come for Universal getting in the mix, we hoped Sci-Fi would make a move for her. She's won all sorts of awards and recognition. She's the only sort of sci-fi that is used for tons of charities.

So...

... Why isn't anybody listening? Joss has, apparently, moved on. The cast/crew are in their new respective roles in their respective careers. We get teased every couple months by some blurb here or there about "never say die!", but nothing's changed. New copies of Firefly on HD (uh wait, since HD crashed, here it is in BluRay and we can celebrate like we've won a big victory).

We're stronger and more dedicated than most Star Trek fans, certainly Jerhico fans, etc - but their beloved series made comebacks. Meanwhile whenever a network deigns to 'lower itself' to show Firefly for a day, they don't show all of them and once again, we burn our candles ever-brighter, hoping.

This site has turned from Firefly news to just news in general about Joss, Nathan&Co, and a few cons. Dollhouse? Is this Dollhousefans.net?

I'm not meanin to troll here, no am I really meanin to take the shine offa anyone elses hull... But I figured that after all this time, we shoulda seen something more rewarding than "here ya go, Sci-Fi will take a break from complete and utter crap movies for a single day and play your little show", or "We know you're desperate to pay money to show support for a show/movie we have absolutely no intention of bringing back, but here are some charities or a new version of the product - and you can buy it/give money in the hopes that maybe if you give enough that we might (ha!) bring it back."

Shouldn't Fox or Universal or Sci-Fi make a move by now? Or do we have to sit by while yet another season of "Who can sing the worst" and "Look, I'm banging a rockstar!" while Firefly collects dust, and we drift further from our purpose.

Let us not accept tablescraps, nor let us be forgotten.

Again, sorry for the ruffled feathers, I'm just done with hopeless optimism.

The thing that is changing is that Nathan and Summer are getting more and more popular every day. That was one of the problems with Serenity...no big name actors.

Desperate Housewives is a top 20 rated show. Trucker movie coming soon. Something is going to sweep the internet in late May to early July.

Terminator got picked up for another season.

Stargate fans now know about Morena.

Stargate: Atlantis fans now know about Jewel.

Chuck fans now know about Adam.

And Joss. He ain't moving on. He is working just like the actors are working.

Have you listened to the cast commentary with Joss and the actors. They love Firefly/Serenity. They love working together.
That is what we have going for us is that Joss and the actors want to tell more stories in the 'verse with actors. They love Firefly/Serenity even more than we do.

I'm sorry if this is going too slow. But that is Hollywood.

It is not like Joss can just call up actors and take a week and film something. Oh wait, Joss can do that.

If Universal had forgotten about us, they wouldn't have offered to ship film from other countries. They didn't have to do anything.

Someday, some studio maybe Universal maybe Fox even, is going to realize there is enough money to be made in the 'verse to take the risk again.

Firefly/Serenity is going to tip someday. The more people see of our Big Darn Heroes, the more people want to see of our Big Darn Heroes...which leads them back to Firefly/Serenity.

We hold 'til Mal gets back.

STOWEAWAY

I don't know about everyone else, but I don't work with Can't Stop the Serenity to try and get a new series or movie.
I do it to raise money for a great cause. And to watch Serenity with other Browncoats who love it as much as I do.
Surely it draws attention that we've raised such a huge amount of money. And that can't hurt.
I save my "Bring Back Firefly/Serenity" efforts for other campaigns. Not the charity screenings.

But, again, that's just my opinion.
