vump - dogs glued to laundry room door now reduced to three. No sound from kitty. Will be taking some tuna to kitty shortly to tempt her from behind the dryer - *sigh*
Of the dogs we actually sought - we have three - the other two are 'rescues' - one from a bad situation where she was not wanted - the other (like the new kitty) just 'showed up' at our door. Where we live (in the country) animals get 'dumped' - so sad - makes you hate your own species.

hmmmm...as long as the dogs are out - doors are closed everybody seems okay - since kitty just had surgery yesterday - I'm going to leave her in the laundry room (with many cuddle visits) before she's allowed free roam of the house; dogs are going to have to deal.

I don't own a cat now, and only have a yellow lab right now, but while I was growing up my family had an english setter and a black cat and the two got along great. They used to cuddle at night to keep each other warm because my parents had them sleep in the garage.

Rallem - yes the kitty - we're calling her "tweet' as that's what she sounds like when she 'talks' - just showed up this past weekend - My husband says he'd seen her 'around' the place for about a month to six weeks - so I guess she needed to 'work' up the courage to come and say hi - she's obviously been around people, probably was somebody's pet - in a check with our neighbors - no one claimed her so I took her to our vet for shots/tests and spaying and 'bang' - got a cat. I HAVE had dogs and cats 'together' before - just not in many years and while they don't always end up as 'friends' - there's usually been no blood-letting. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. vump.
