My kids think I am weird and often freak out because of the following:

1. I always know when something bad is about to happen to myself or a member of the family.
2. I knew the moment my grandmother died that she had passed even though she was 19 hours away.
3. I known that the phone will ring before it rings and I know who is calling.
4. I have always "heard" my mothers voice say my name even though we are not near each other (this happens when there is an emergency)
5. I "see" people in my peripheral vision that no one else can see.

OK I am a weirdo. Anyone else?

You consider all of those weird?
I don't see much of River's abilities as weird.
I used to have Deja Vu (not a River ability) a lot. One episode I started counting, occurred over 13 times before the actual event in real life, which could only happen at one point in time.
I used to not believe in ghosts, until I dealt with a few on haunted planes. I was about the last in the squadron to catch on, everybody else knew before me.

we have one here in my house. She locks doors, and windows and turns the outside light on. Quite considerate really.

I used to be able to sense cop presence also. Developed when I was in SoCal, and I was working with high power Radar equipment at the time. Stayed with me for a few years after leaving Cal, I assumed due to lack of practice.
Could usually sense about a mile away, sometimes more, sometimes only 20 seconds. Sometimes would never actually see the cop, until they pull over somebody else several minutes later.
And the first ghosts I met were not happy campers.

I am extremely intuitive and I get a strong sense of deja vu especially when I meet someone new. I had been introduced to an aquaintaince of my younger sister and got the strangest feeling that we had met. Only after the person left did I realize that feeling.

I also can usually tell when someone is lying to me. I get this "feeling" that they're not being truthful and it won't go away. Something recently happened at my job that confirmed this. Usually I don't put a lot of faith in that ability, but this time I got proof. I didn't know what to do with it, but it felt good and strange at the same time.

Are you the Closer?
I hear FBI pay big bucks for people who can do this.

This is also one of my mad skillz. But, I must confess, it's because I'm very good at reading a person's tells. My last few boyfriends have hated this - they couldn't get away with anything.

My only skill that way is the ability to tell time accurately without a watch. (I'm a bit out of practise now, but it still comes in handy when timing eggs.) I used to be able to sense where people were occasionally, but now it's inanimate objects. The 'phone thing has happened to me a few times.

On the supernatural side, had one very strong and strange experience when looking at houses to buy the other year. Went into one room, and I've never felt so sick and cold and creeped out. I left the house at a flat run and refused to go back inside. No idea what actually happened, but I think someone died there, and they were not happy.

No, I'm not a Closer, but I will definitely look into it.

Without going into details someone flat-out lied to me at work and I could sense something was not right. It was later confirmed by a series of events that I "felt" would occur. It was a strange feeling and not very pleasant.

I believe that I'm meant to move on. I'm going to follow my instincts and see where it takes me.

Various researchers have noted how many “disabled” individuals are simultaneously “superabled” through some little understood phenomenon.

Some, more so than others, have the ability to tap into their "instincts" and thats what sets them apart. I do believe we get distracted by the everyday mundane things in our lives and we don't readily sense what's going on around us.

That's why I live in Serenity , ShinyGoodGuy...

It keeps me calm , and in touch with the Force...

So , you're one of Us...It's still amazing to me that few seem to notice that the Jedi so often wear cloaks of
a 'BROWN-ish color'...

Out2theblack:

You know, you are the first to mention that particular connection. Makes sense I guess...the once great saga of SW replaced by the new great saga Serenity.

Brown is an earth tone, down to earth so-to-speak. I'm a fangeek of the original Star Wars (Episodes 4,5, & 6) back before the dark times. The recent SW (1,2,3) pale in comparison to the wonder and excitement generated by Lucas' original vision. Joss somehow captured that amazing world by keeping it simple. Telling a story about real people traveling together through space, but with a slight twist of course. JW took that "browness" and brought it back to what it really means for all of us - a human connection and the desire to live free.

(You could tell I'm really into this stuff) Yes, I am one of you.

They're interesting phenomenon, but I'd be interested in seeing some studies on whether processing of the information received is impaired by the volume of information. If you take in that much, to what extent can you process and manipulate the information, or draw conclusions from it? Be cool to find out anyway ^^ (yes, I'm just trying to make out that my brain wurks gud too, I have no shame about these things )

Thanks for sayin'...

I'm tuned in to your way of expression , also...

The Force is a powerful ally to the Browncoats !

Too bad Lucas didn't stick to the principle of keeping it simple...

Making films by proxy , with pricey effects substituted for an engaging story , and a lack of characters that we can really care for , just doesn't cut it...

Nevermind all that...Serenity Lives !

We keep 'er in the air , 'til our next outing !

Never underestimate a Browncoat...'Specially not a Browncoat with a blaster !

To OddBodskins :

My ex-xx asked me once about how one keeps it all sorted out , when there's an instrument panel full of clocks in front of you , and only one of them is tellin' the right time...

She was still a bit befuddled when I told 'er :

" Well , it's really pretty simple...You just learn to de-process all the
non-relevant information..."

The only thing I can really do is feel other people's pain :-\ I can literally be sitting across the room/bus/table/whatever from another person, and I can physically and emotionally feel their pain as if it were my own, even if they're showing no outward signs of it. Specifically emotional pain. Gives a whole new level to the expression "I feel your pain," cuz people can say that, but only be sympathetic to what the person's. I say that, and I'm like "oooooooooooooooooooooooow. *cries*" it hurts, but it also allows me to better help them feel better cuz I have to work through it myself.
