Not a great list IMHO. Example: how can they include Gilmore Girls which ran for years? They might as well add MASH.

Too many great shows are missing from the list too, especially Andy Richter Controls the Universe and The Tick.

Yea.. that's all kind of silly because ALL shows get cancelled (or planed exit) eventually.

They should just consider shows that have had 2 seasons or less.

I don't watch that much tv anymore.. but this is why I love watch shows on DVD instead of TV now. Even if a show sounds good.. I wait and see what the general buzz about a show is.. then I might check it out when I can buy it on DVD. Then once I catch up (if it's still on the air) I might start watching subsequent seasons "live".

Plus not to forget that you can watch it on your schedule (several episodes at a time if you wish) and you don't have to deal with commercials.

That's how I started watching BSG and Dexter. Although I will probably watch Dollhouse right out of the gate.

But anyway.. this way I don't get invested in a show that ends up getting cancelled after just a small handfull of episodes like Journeyman or Charlie Jade.

I do this because more and more often a really great show (or one that has potential if it can just get it's legs) gets cancelled because it doesn't have 30 million viewers right out of gate. But networks don't realize that by cancelling shows so early without giving them a chance.. causes more and more of us not to want to get invested in the next one that they may just cancel.

It's like they are alienating their own customers. But who cares.. American Idol pulls in 60 bazillian viewers each night.. they just need more shows like that! Right?

Remember, there are current genius Fox executives that can be found in Airports that still think cancelling Firefly was a good decision.
I'd agree with American Gothic. But no Due South? Dark Angel? Eishied?

It's the computerized American way.

I actually had an idea one time that someone could launch a new network called "Pilot TV".

And the idea behind the network is to actually pick up and continue great shows that were cancelled before their time and also they could take older shows that maybe had 4-5 seasons but are old enough that they would be ripe for a remake or re-imagining (ala BSG). Like.. you are probably never going to remake Sienfeld.. but how many other great shows only lasted 3-4 seasons?

You could litterly LAUNCH the network off of a new Firefly series.. you wouldn't even need anything else new off the bat. Then you could re-run episodes of series that you are thinking about continuing or remaking and let your audience decide which ones are a go.

Like for example.. recent series that could be tested to see if it would be a go to pick up and continue production: (I didn't watch all these.. but I just know they had a lot of fans)

1) Firefly is a given.
2) Journeyman
3) Dresden Files
4) Jerico
5) Charlie Jade
6) Blood Ties
7) Veronica Mars
8) Freaks and Geeks
9) Dead like Me
10) Deadwood
11) The 4400
12) Wonderfalls

Then you could also re-run older series and judge wich ones would be a go to remake:

Here's a few I would like to see an updated remak/reimagining take on it:

1) Wiseguy
2) Profitt
3) Cupid
4) Quantum Leap

Anyone got any others?

Oooh , the Young Rebels ! Great call !

Any list that does not include Earth2 is lacking something lovely...

"This time , WE'RE the Aliens !"

Add , My So-Called Life , and American Dreams to my list , for starters...

I also liked 240Robert...

This could take quite a while...

Dang , I'm still sore that they didn't allow
New Amsterdam to get its legs...

Glad you liked the Young Rebels mention. That show was really something special. I watched it mainly because I was obsessed at the time over Hilary Thompson, but it also had Lou Gossett (Enemy Mine) and Alex Hentelhoff (the plant manager who would go on to invent "transparent aluminum" in Star Trek IV ). Being a history buff I totally loved the show, just like I loved The Swamp Fox and Daniel Boone.

I thought this was a nice idea...

Problem I imagine is whether all the stations that own the rights to the shows that they've cancelled would allow them to succeed in anyone else's hands...
