Holy crap that sounds like quite an ordeal MsB. I didn't know that hair dye can make your hair fall out. Eeep!

So, if you guys remember me pondering over whether to start an email back and forth with some chick who lives pretty far away but I'd totally fall for if I got the chance. Yeah that was like a month ago. I ended up replying to the email then nothing. Out of the blue today finally a reply. Can't decide whether I should be like eff you woman! or not. Some excuse about a "survey" at work. Whatever that means. This type of crap is the reason I didn't want to have an email communication thing in the first place. grrr

OK Zeek how much do you like her? IF you like her a lot then keep the email going. IF not, just a quick glad you're having fun kind of email will do:)

FLT- yup it was awesome. We all went out to dinner and then we're walking back to the car and we get to the wedding chapel and he says " want to get married now" and at first she's just rolling her eyes but then she realizes he means it and he says " why do you think all these people ( us, her parents, and his family) are here?? She totally had no idea. I swear I thought she was gonna pass out...it was so cute and a sweet wedding:)

Mmm nothing like having your birthday off to sit home:) NV took the day off too so we'd have an extra long weekend...so far it's been incredible:)

Don't know her well enough to say I like her a lot. Every time she's in town she's impressive but I went with the "glad you're having fun" kind of email already. I don't need to be sitting around waiting for a reply once a month.

Good morning folks.

I would just like to say that after seeing The Dark Knight I was left with a bit of an underlying bit of foreboding. I really enjoyed the flick, but was left with something strangely fmiliar that I hate to feel.

But I would like to say without spoiling too much that at least he didn't play bitch like the S-man and his belief in just himself.

Oh, and less than a month 'til Dragon*Con. Wow. Time flies when you're having fun.

Nah, visited and erased my post before posting it. I'm sure to piss someone off and start a RWED type of "discussion" that I just don't have the energy to respond to. I would just like to say that I enjoyed the emotional bullet train and took some of the material to heart. I would also like to again pimp Frank Millers The Dark Knight Returns as the flick opened the door to the future Gotham Miller created. I feel that some people have read too far into things especially the race issue. I'm more reluctant to watch a Bruckheimer flick due to just that; his shotty portrayal of people who aren't white (and even some who are). For me, The Dark Knight was more a movie about real people dealing with extraordianry situations (another reason why many people hate Shamylan films). Heaven forbid we show real people in the movies.

But on the otherside I can really empathise with folks who suffer from severe adult ADD. With my head twisting and turning so much, with being on edge the whole time, and after being tense through the whole movie I was spent after sitting the two and a half hours.

Gosh. Still fragmented.

I must say I did like the focus in the movie on the idea that everyone has limits to what they can survive emotionally and that breeching those limits has horrific consequences

No email. Don't really expect any now though. I didn't really ask any questions that needed answering or anything. So, it was more or less a reply that answered the previous email and just stopped there.

Yep that's what I liked about Dark Knight too. That idea for the plot was cool and it more or less worked. It's just how they got there that I didn't really buy all the time.

See to me it's a movie I don't really need to see again. I get the main plot behind it. I don't think there is enough cool dialog or funny jokes or cool special effects that I'd want to see again. With something like Ironman I was laughing and enjoying the special effects and the hottness of Pepper Potts. Nothing like that to the Dark Knight IMO.

See and there lies the problem I think....

In any trailer that was released for this movie was there a part that made you think it was going to be funny?

I don't think that they were trying for funny anywhere really. Just tension breaking smart remarks so the stress did not overwhelm the characters.

I swear to god if I had heard "holy rusted metal Batman!" or any other campy line like the last series they would have lost my money for good on this one.

I wanted to see the darker side of Gotham and I think I saw some of it this time.

Batman over the years has changed and has had spin offs in different directions. Due to this you had different Series/chapters/comics altogether: Detective Comics, Batman, Batman and Robin, .......... , and The Dark Knight (there are so many that it would take days to list them all). We are talking decades of stories and hundreds of story tellers. Everyone has their favorite.

When I heard the title I wanted so much to believe that I was going to see a Joker that was a killer and not just a joke, a Batman that was pushed to the limits but would not compromise and a Batman and Joker rivalry that was more than just one liners and joy buzzers. They do bring out the best/worst in each other after all!

Yes, it was not perfect and there will be critics that hated/loved it.

I liked it. My opinion and I do not expect anyone to share my opinion exactly. Hell I would be down right surprised if there was anyone out there that did.

Was it perfect? No. I could start a list and completely tear this movie down but why? It was entertaining and it was someone else's vision of Batman.

Did it live up to the hype? That is up to each individual to decide. I will say that it was a lot better than I expected. I thought for sure that Ledger would ruin this movie and I was wrong. He will be missed in the movies to come.

I just hope they have Director's Cut that is NR Rated because I want to see what more Harvey and the Joker would have done had they not been trying for that PG-13.

You can count me in as one who agrees with you Kelkhil. I wanted to see that darker side. Without the extreme gore and violence (of which I still consider this PG-13 deserved an R) the film makers had to compensate with this half broke tooth gnawing on a well done steak of a flick. I hope people took in the fact that we do create our world with our actions (or lack thereof). And yes, we do ultimately run into our other self here in the now we have created. Yes, they are individual characters, but Bats and the Clown really are the duality of ourselves, order and chaos. We try to do so much in our lives without taking all the factors into account. It's the wakeup call we get that sometimes alters our path to find out who we really are. I think that is the true side people fail to look at. All movies should be entertaining. But I tire so much of the "That part was cool/funny/gross" comments while leaving the theater. I wish people would look more into themselves rather than just sip six dollar sodas and drool on their fake butter pop corn after being wow'd by computer generated creatures of whimsy or multiple digital explosions for 90 minutes. Our lives are really not that hard. The least they can do is work on some sort of self improvement or at least internalize the stife of people who survived traumatic experiences so that they may handle them better if ever experienced. Yeah, it means more to me than just watching a movie. It means finding answers to questions I never had the chance to recognize within myself. I just hope that the film makers working on such material can feel the actual impact their media has on people who truly appreciate them.

Okay. Ranting and rattling long enough. Time to strap on my boots and be the bad guy.

NV it ain't easy being mean

HUGS Kelkhil yes I did enjoy it and I appreciated the angles and complexity. I also though Heath Ledger did a remarkable job portraying a truly disturbed individual ( most actors go way over the top and try to be "kooky" and such) He maintained beautifully while the ever present edge of total loss of control was still in view. Also like the commentary on humanity with the boat situation ( don't want to spoil it)

Hey all. Just wanted to check in and say hi, particularly for those of you who have been watching the news today. I'm not all that far from the 5.4 earthquake that hit south-east of LA, and I definitely felt it for about 20-30 seconds here. Long enough to realize that it was an earthquake, have some pictures fall off the wall and scare the crap out of me, grab my phone, and go huddle in a door way, then wait out the last few seconds. It was the largest one I've felt since moving to CA, but other than having to re-level all my pictures and pick up a few things, no damage here.

The ironic thing, of course, is that if I hadn't quit last week I would have been at the office way up north at the time, and probably not even felt it. Instead I was home, about 20 miles south-west of the epicenter.

Anyhow, all's well here. Just wanted to let you guys know. :)

heres a ponder...kind of a vent..i'm reading a series, the final installment of which is coming out on saturday; the last one ended in such a "WHAT THE FUCK???" way, that i'm afraid of where the next one is going. the author's been building up this one couple's relationship for three books, and i dont think she's gonna all of a sudden change it now (since the characters' feelings for each other havent changed, but this thing that happened is like an 'aaaw shit...whats gonna happen now?')
but, i'm terrified that she's gonna go there and just totally flip everything she's built up in the past three effing books, and end it a way she really shouldnt end. iunno, just had to get that out there. i dont think she's gonna do it, cuz its something that totally wouldnt make sense, but there it is >< *dies*

i'll be very upset with her if she does that.

yeah me too, cuz in the first and second books they were like "i love u so much" then in the THIRD they fricking get engaged, and at the very end something happens to her (its a semi triangle, she loves one guy, theres another guy who thinks her love interest is bad for her, and no matter how many times she tells him "i love HIM not YOU, and he's not bad for me to be around" the guy wont listen, and causes something to happen to her at the very end of book 3--by the by, when he does that, she's like 'omfg i really fricking hate you, forever') though right till the last page the engagement is still on. and im like "holy fuck, theres a whole nother BOOK, what the eff is gonna happen?" the fact that she's built up the relationship and gone THIS far with it to the last book, makes me doubt she'd kill off a love interest that strong, but authors have sometimes been known to do stupid things @_@ still, im hopeful thats not true in this case ^_^

Lolz... Glad I missed out on that :P

Hum... it would depend on the guy in question, and how offended the girl was. I'd say, in that kinda situation, I'd say the girl should wait a couple days after she cooled down to approach the guy, in case the guy takes longer to recuperate than the girl. And if he's still mad, then, well... I'd say, wait a week, then two weeks, then a month, then give him up for good.

That relationship is dead in the water IMO. That guy said he was in love. He wanted her to run away with him. She just crushed his hopes and dreams. I'd guess it's going to take him a long time to get over that.

I'm guessing he was pretty much misreading all their "friend" things they did together. Doing stuff with him again is just going to send him signals that he doesn't understand.

I recommend cutting ties and hoping that a few years down the road they bump into each other and he's happily married and maybe they can start being friends again.

See at least you knew the relationship was over before the series was over. I'm not gonna know now till the END of the series @_@ *dies* but the more i think about it the more i think she won't end it that way for some reason. i'm hopin im right lol

about the friend thing, if he hasn't gotten over it by 2 weeks at the latest, he has worse problems than my girl friends :-P

See I was thinking as they've been friends 3 years ( and yes she's been married that whole time) he'd feel teh sting and then calm and realize that was a doomed leap and move on...hmm

I'm with Zeek on this one, though I come at it from the girl side (obviously), and from the perspective of having spent my entire post-puberty life trying to avoid that sort of conversation. The relationship is dead in the water. Don't try to re-establish ties. If she sees him again with mutual friends, then she should be friendly, certainly, but showing concern over his hurt feelings will only reinforce his view that there's more than friendship there.

And honestly, I kind of miss our R-rated days.

Hmm see i knew thos ponder would be complicated... it's just they were friends for years and she doesn't want to lose a friend ( and let me tell you she was STUNNED that he felt that way)

Yeah I do kind of miss our long panty ponders and all the other stuff...maybe that's why we don't have a ton of posts any more. We need better topics

Nothing wrong with joining the winning team. (is that emoticon working yet?)

MsB, I think the guy has a screw loose. He isn't looking at things logically. I don't think he's just going to figure out that he miscalculated. He's probably been playing this out in his head for at least 1 of those 3 years. That isn't just going away. Trust me I know guys who have been obsessed with girls they knew for like one summer and went on one date with. They can keep that obsession going for years with even the littlest of encouragement.
