Oh, oops

Then, I'd have to say, give him two weeks, then maybe try to hang around with him, but with the husband around...? To make it ABSOLUTELY clear to him that she ISN'T going to run off with him, since guys tend to be very dense.

Life is very busy, that is why I have been gone, and why I may be in and out. But it is all good.
We moved to Logan, and I have a job that I get to work from home for, so life has actually improved. I'm glad to see my fellow 'coats are as shiney as ever!

Not me personally, but my in-laws took the kids. They sell it by the quart in the grocery store here, so I may indulge that way. :smile

Wow 4... you're out numbered:)Be very careful with the family voting...remember each parent counts as 3 votes:)

You see, that really isn't fair. Does the President get 100 or so votes, when he steps down and gets to elect someone else?! When the school staff all vote on something, does the principal get 50 votes?!

I hate parents that do that... and the parents that are all "Because I said so". That isn't an answer. So, the parent is allowed to say that, and the kid isn't?!!

LOL in our family each kid got 2 votes and each parent got 3. There were 4 kids so we could vote block them if we needed to, but they only needed one kid on their side to win ( this was for things you'd vote on like where to vacation and what to have for Christmas dinner) when it comes to important stuff like school and such kids don't get a vote , nor should they. If it were up to most kids they'd stay home and skip school and end up idiots...

meh the "because I said so" argument is just a shorter way of parents saying "because I'm supporting you, you have no leverage, I have more experience, and I'm right". Kids aren't going to like the answer no matter how it's worded, because they think they're right or the just want to get their way. Parents are going to win until a kid is old enough to live on their own.

No voting, but we do discuss and I try to not use the "because I said so" line, but the kids sometimes won't accept an answer.

In my family ( ok with my dad) if you had a good enough reason or a well thought out arguement he'd usually let me do it( my mom is an irrational loon)

See, I just plain don't like the way most parents parent, I hate the way the parents have power over EVERYTHING the kid does, and I've always thought the kids should be allowed to learn the consequences of actions, and not some arbitrary "you do this, mom grounds you" or "if you do that, dad spanks you", because who know if the parent has an actual reason for that if they don't explain it? And then when the kid wants an explaination, they're all "because I SAID so, now go and do what I say". And teachers and parents stop kids from doing what they want, ramming consequences down their throat, "don't don't don't don't don't, this is what happens, this is what happens, this is what happens", but not letting the kid choose for themselves, saying that the "right" choice is the ONLY choice, and pushing kids to do some of that bad stuff just to prove that they CAN, that it IS a choice.

Edit- wow I was slow writing this post. I was replying to MSB's post, and I didn't see ya'lls until I hit the respond button.

Do you have examples of something that a parent should let a child do? I'm trying to think of many things that a child could learn from where the result is near term enough for them to have time to correct their mistake or not dangerous.

I mean something like:
parent - "Look both way before you cross the street"
kid - "Don't tell me what to do!"
car - *SMACK*

That's not a very good situation. Not doing homework could be all sorts of bad too. Not cleaning their room will probably never teach the kids a lesson. They'll just happily live like pigs. I'm blanking on ideas of situations where a kid could learn from their mistakes in a constructive manner.

here's a ponder: why does captain hammer never take his gloves off?

also, he seems to have a bit of a sadistic douchebag side.. O_o

as for things to let kids learn from, pretty much anything that wont seriously injure or kill them. like

"keep doin that and ur gonna make urself sick"
"no im not!"
"yes u are."
*puke* "mommyyyyyyyyy"
"I told you, didnt i?"

Easy, very much so. But Mr. Fillion seems to fit it much better than I would.

Wouldn't you agree Future Mrs Fillion?

Okay, this shoe whore (I've ordered five hundred dollars worth of Belleville boots in the last month for a fraction of the actual price and feel INCREDIBLE in my waaaay over sized boots sitting behind my desk posting this post knowing that I can take off for a desert hike at a moments notice so lay off... I'm retarded) is starting a shiny new thread.
