So, does the 76th have a "Nemesis" group? Even the Stormtroopers of the 501st have the Rebel Legion.

I think it'd be kinda fun to have one...as the Alliance is definitely the underdog in the costuming realm.

Meh, I just claim the 501st out of principle. Of course we have our factions within their legion. All I can say is that during muster the only complaining I heard was from the Storm Troopers who almost refused to wear their helmets during the parade. Sure they have hot plastic helmets. I didn't hear anyone in our group complaining about the heavy coat, vest, tight pants, and STEEL POTS. And we stood ready for action through all of the parade.

Oh well. Remember, we can also shoot straight.

And I was just using the 501st as an example as well....so I take that the answer is "NO" their isn't a group of Alliance/misc Badguys that are the costume-nemesis of the 76th?

Not that I saw, but I could be wrong.

And you should see the looks the 501st and numerous other Star Wars/Star Trek "fans" (read as geeks) give us. Seems the Browncoat faction is growing so much at Dragon*Con that the Firefly/Serenity panels now have a hold on the "big" room at the con. All other fandoms have to give up a little time for not just the Whedonists, but specifiacally the BDS/BDM fans.

Allah forbid we allow new fandoms and ideas to grow where others have grown old and have begun to fail their own fan base.

Besides, we all seem to have a great kinship with other fan groups. Sharing Romulan Ale with a cool ass member of another fan group was one of my most favorite things of the con.

Dragon COn has crippled me... and I couldn't be happier

I miss everyone though.... we need to add a few days to the beginning or end of the con just for 76th parties and such

You are correct, the answer to your question is NO. We are still a young group, and we haven't had the time to branch out and create a rival faction. If you're interested, I know that there are lots of people out there who would be willing to help you with the costuming part of it.

363 days until the next D*C (Sept 4-7, 2009).

Not so far.

I do have a friend who went to the con that put together an Alliance uniform. It looks pretty good. Makes for a great target.

Now if we could just get more of them for us to shoot at!

But you have such a striking profile.

As for the targets, I think there are plenty of Alliance types to gun down. Sure would be nice to have more purple bellies about though. I mean really, the Stormtroopers only outnumber us two to one, and they can't shoot straight. With a three to one kill ration we need another faction to contend with.

Had to get the Intercooler for the 360 & still put it up on plastic blocks and put another small fun blowing under it to help keep it good and cold. Haven't had a problem since.

Don't blame Ike for the greed of big oil companies and the gas distributors. They'd find one excuse or another to jump the price again. Ike is just the latest one.

I tried to start a new one, but couldn't get the pics to transfer. I'll give it another try today.

Over $5 for gas?!? Crazy talk!

It shot back up to $3.89 a gallon here over the weekend, which was a 40 cent on the gallon increase. Word is that we will see $5/gal by early next week.

Makes my talk of getting a scooter or motorcycle seem less like talk and more like a necessity.

KYOBONITSUKI

These are great photos for costuming... i do have a question tho. The helmet i see here, and have seen other places, is a tan with a brown stripe... now on my tv and computer the helmets are a different color than the uniforms - they appear green with a black stripe. the cut scenes from serenity (pilot not movie) seem to be green as well and lack much of the color manipulation. also the costume sketches in the companion feature green helmets. my question is if i am missing a picture of the actual prop (being tan)... or if this was a decision to tie the uniform together for purposes of the 76th.

cheers

matt

Hey Kyobonitsuki. We decided to go with the tan helmet with dark brown stripe to tie the uniform together. Just seemed more fitting.
