Pretty much have to participate though I think it's just stupid. Yay mandatory celebration in your honor. How is that honoring anything? I try to keep my birthday on the down low so I don't have to make small talk. "So, what are you doing to celebrate? Hanging out with my cat and watching a movie cause I hate socializing *stare of death*"

pssh you think I remember clothes 5 seconds after seeing them? One of my friends is having a birthday tonight. I suppose that means she's aging. I assume she wears different clothes from time to time. I can text her almost instantly though. That's like 24/7 availability.

Shades of "A Beautiful Mind" with Russel Crowe.

Not bad if they don't have you chasing after imaginary spy networks. Of course it makes life more interesting. At least more interesting then mine.

As for birthdays, it is mandatory to bring something to work to and to munch on. The more unhealthy the better. I go for donuts. That is about all I do for my birthday. I don't have a cat. My landlord won't let us have pets.

After almost 9 years, I'm pretty tired of office celebrations. I can't tell you how many parties and/or gifts I've paid into. We do parties right here, too. We're talking lots of loot for the celebrated. Thankfully company wide parties are limited to the big ocassions only: weddings, babies, retirement. I do get jaded, however, thinking of all the money I've spent and will never see a return on my investment. Is that wrong? :D At this point, I'm probably not goign to get married, and the baby thing is a no go, so I will never be among the celebrated.

Awww you can still get married. It'll happen eventually. Kids are sticky, smelly, loud and cost a ton anyway. You're way better off burning a few hundred bucks than having to put up with all that.

I'm notoriously bad about gifts. I'm always thinking about whether or not I'm going to get back what I give or thinking about the evenness of gifts between me and my brother. It's something I try to work on but I just can't help it. Birthdays were a big one for me. My birthday is only a couple weeks after Christmas so it was always like "here's a couple extra presents" but nothing big. Then my brother's birthday in april was always much bigger. Which is like a double whammy. I'd always get jealous and then feel bad that I'm getting presents but I'm so greedy that I want more.

I'm in the same boat with work these days. When I hear about someone getting a big bonus or a promotion when I'm working my butt off too I get all jealous. I'm trying to remind myself that I'm doing just fine and I should be happy to have a job that pays the bills and still leaves me with spending and saving money. So, I just take a deep breath and focus on myself and not others. I think that's the much healthier outlook.

Morning all!

So I have a wierd ponder.... not so much guys and girls but still.........

I have back issues. Lower back. Have had this for anout 10 years now. It flares up from time to time real bad but for the most part it is just a constant dull ache.

Pain killers kinda help but I don't want to get anything more potent than over the counter stuff. Most of the time the Doc wants to give me muscle relaxers anyway and they don't help for shit.

I have done physical therapy and it really doesn't help much either.

I go to the Chiropractor but re-aligning it is useless if it just tightens up half an hour later.

It is not like I am inactive so it won't get better because I am not doing anything either. I work out almost every single day and I get up and move around and stretch throughout the day.

So I was thinking about Acupuncture and was just wondering if anyone has used it before? If so what did you think and did it help for what you needed it for?

Thanks!

How strong are your abs? Are you carrying any extra weight? How consistent were you with the PT exercises, both in and out of the clinical setting?

Sorry to be all pry-ey...but, IME, the three things I listed above are very important to lower back health...and are often not as attended to as they should be. Strong abs are a significant key to lower back health as is staying trim, especially for men who tend to carry any extra weight in their abdomen. Also think about your chair and bed...both can be big contributing factors to a sore back.

Give acupuncture a try, couldn't hurt (), right? But I would also see if there is any room for improvement in the above areas.

It wakes her u when he leaves at four in the morning. I'd say something to him but he obviously has "little mans syndrome" and could be stupid enough to step up.

I'd just have to feed him that Mustang.

RugBug:

Well I ain't no Payton Manning (his commercial about only people who play pro sports or who are under the age of 25 can have a 6-pack is a riot) I have myself a 5-pack so I am not carrying much extra weight. 6'1, 205lbs. Yes there is a little fat there, but not a whole lot.

Well I am not in PT and have not been for about 10 years but I do the exercises every day. They are part of my work our routine.

Every morning when I get up I stretch, and do the PT stuff along with some other stuff and then I ride the exercise bike for half an hour.

Every night after work I stretch and jog 2 miles. On Mon, Wed, and Fri I also hit the weights.

I started the regiment last October so it is not like it is anything new that is messing with me.

I thought it might be the bed as well but I dropped it to the floor and still sore and tight.

At work I make sure that every hour I get up and move around. I stretch my back and walk about for a couple of minutes.

I was thinking about giving some Yoga a try but that is not covered by my insurance (along with finding time) and the acupuncture might be (I could at least have them try and bill it) and I have always been interested in trying it to see what it would do. Figured it could only make it worse if the doc was a hack.

I heard on the Olympics that a lot of the athletes use it so I figured I would ask around the boards in case some one here has and see what they thought.

So I was thinking about Acupuncture and was just wondering if anyone has used it before? If so what did you think and did it help for what you needed it for?
My friend suffers from fibromyalgia (fancy word for lots of frequent pain that doctors can't otherwise diagnose, explain, or treat effectively) and probably an on-set of arthritis. She goes to an acupuncturist every couple of weeks or so (and chiropracter), and it seems to help her quite a bit. It's not a solution, but it provides a good amount of relaxation and temporary relief.
