I wish you could have a kitty to,...is the tooth you got worked on gonna be a implant? How bad does the nail thing hurt, I ask cause I am facing getting 4 implants myself. Can I asked if you insurance covered all of it?

We'd get a kitty, but I wouldn't want to put the critter through our move in a couple of years, especially since Hawai'i has a strict quarantine process.

The "healing cap" doesn't hurt at all, not even right after the novocaine wore off. Really, the worst discomfort I experienced through all the procedures (aside from having the loose end of a suture scraping the inside of my cheek for about a week) was the novocaine injections, and those weren't bad at all, since they numb the sites up with that nasty-tasting stuff, first.

I had the option of general anesthesia, but I hate needles. I went with an oral sedative and nitrous (I hadn't planned on the nitrous oxide, but the doc offered it for free, so... I didn't notice a difference).

At any rate, the whole process took most of a year, which was mostly healing between stages, and none of it was particularly painful or unbearable. Insurance paid for /some/ of it, but I ended up about 1,800 out of pocket for the bone graft, sinus augmentation (raising the depth of the tooth socket in the jaw), implantation of the titanium post, and attachment of the healing cap, including x-rays and interim visits to check the progress.

The crown will be separate, but the procedure will be trivial, even if it costs more. Overall, the whole thing will cost me close to what a bridge would've, does not require damaging the neighboring teeth like a bridge would, and will leave a fully-functional tooth indistinguishable from a natural tooth, including cleaning.

Yeah, well worth it, VUMP!

Ray,
goodness that was lots of work, I'm gald it doesn't hurt much,I always get the gas when I go to the 'tooth puller', I hate them

Sister,
everything FT said is right, the only other thing I know that works, seems like torture but it does work.
Put the kitty in a secure carrier and set it in room the next to your chair, and then let one dog at a time in, let him check out the carrier( the kitty will hiss) but they need(dogs) to understand that kitty belongs here. Then let in each one at a time (5 mins) to be alone with you and kitty. Correct the dogs when they misbehave, (I found a mean voice works) After the basic introduction you may have to do it a couple of times more, but dogs want to please you so much, that they usually get bored, if kitty hits them with a claw, they will get it faster.
I understand they are BIG, kitty has the advantage of hiding where they can't go or like FT said jumping up on furniture etc. Ft gave you excellant advice!!!

oh yea vote and bump!!!
...to help our vote at tv-vote I will vote from home when I get home in the morning.

Tally HO!
In the office on a Saturday. Ick.

Was MIA yesterday due to the loss of a Browncoat crew member/friend. Unexpected death and way too soon. He and his wife helped me put on CSTS in Seattle the last couple of years and he will be greatly missed.
Give your loved ones a hug today in memory of a true Browncoat and a good man.

*sending virtual hugs to all the vumpers here and beyond*

At weekinwhedon we have closed the gap about nine percent (about a hundred votes) in the last week.

At BBC we are making daily progress, even though less than ten votes a day are being made (all but one or two from browncoats.) If one of them SW fans puts out a call for reinforcements (and anyone responds), we could be in big trouble.)

tvtally just needs constant attention. I get in there 2-3 times a day, every day.
