Last night I went to a friend's house and showed him Dr. Horrible for what was his first time, and he really enjoyed it until the anti-climactic ending. When the blog was over my friend simply said, "Weird." Why did Joss make the ending for Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog so anticlimactic?

Wow. I disagree. I thought that the ending was awesome. An example of pure tragedy. A man achieves all his great ambitions by his own hand, and yet it is all meaningless to him without the one he loves.

This was not a story about superhero battles. It is a story about characters, like all of Joss' work.

I didn't think it was an anti-climax either but it was not the ending I expected from Joss. The ending I had in mind was Dr. Horrible and Captain Hammer in a smoking heap on the floor with Penny standing over them, shaking her head and saying "Dumbasses" as she walked out the door.

I also thought that would have been his ending but I'm glad Joss surprised us a bit.

Well, the one thing that is pretty much guaranteed is that NOBODY was going to end up as part of a happy couple. This is a Joss Whedon creation, after all!

Related, though, is that Felicia Day will be on the season premiere of House tomorrow night. Wonder if that one'll have a happier ending for her...

(Probably well known to others, but I don't watch much TV and just saw her last night on a preview!)

anti climatic?

I thought the last three seconds of the whole thing was like a kick in the chest the first time I saw it!

Did your friend not see the look on billy's face? Did your friend not catch that he was sitting at the blog- in his street clothes- not as Dr Horrible? BAM!

oh, and IMHO, I don't think- as someone said- he got everything he wanted by his own hand but it means nothing without the one he loves. Dr Horrible, after all, got into the ELoE on false pretext. He was "credited" with the murder of Penny, but actually it was just the result of the accident when Cpt Hammer went to use the death ray on him and it exploded.

So, technically DH achieved nothing own his own, and Billy's real goal was to impress Penny all along. And, yes, I feel it's necessary to talk about the two (Dr H and Billy) as two separate characters.

But that's just my take on the whole thing. Other opinions may apply. Operators are standing by. Offer void in Newfoundland.

According to her website, she appears in episode two of the new season, not the premiere.
"a) My House episode is "Not Cancer" NEXT week I believe? Confusing. And yes, we will be selling/signing DVDs at Blizzcon, yay!"

In any case, it'll be great to see her again, hopefully just one of many tv and movie appearances to come.

Also, The Guild, season 2 is in the works.
