Keep in mind that we bought our acre on the Big Island, which is the most rural/least-developed in Hawai'i; it cost us $40kUS. The opportunity exists for being off-grid (you have to be, for water and sewer, where we are), especially if solar gets any better by the time we build.

Can you give me the name of your real estate agent? Oh and is it still true that you can't really 'buy' the land, the state leases it to you for 99 years or something like that.
