yea,.....I remember that,....and its one of the biggest reasons I am not going for it. I called my senator and told him I could not believe they were asking us to bail them out. I said, we are loosing our homes, can't afford gas, can't afford food, at least get our money back from them if you have to bail them out. Who is gonna bail us(middle class America) out of this mess? My loan is not a ARM, but I still can't afford the basics,...I have 3 friends who have ARM's, they don't know what to do.

Good for you..

I also let my representatives know how i feel about the bail out - and I strongly urge everyone to do the same. Those guys are supposed to be there for us - they should act in accordance with the wishes of their constituency.

I was amazed to see poll numbers stating that nearly 30% of those polled had no opinion on the bailout - WAKE UP PEOPLE - this is coming outta YOUR pocket.... get busy and make a call.

BTW - does anybody else smell a rat here - this situation has been brewing for a while now - and all of a sudden, less than two months before the election, this is the big push - sounds more like a bail out of the McCain campaign than the economy.

More to the point is we must tell our reps to keep a tight leash on these greedy bastards. Where were all the supposed "watchdogs" when Wall Street was fleecing Main Street?

If the Bailout is needed to save jobs for the little guys then fine, but don't let these bastards make a dime off our blood, sweat and tears. Middle class Americans should be given huge tax breaks or, at the very least, spread the million-dollar bonuses these "crooks" would make to every Tom, Dick and Harry who had to sacrifice.

We should see a profit from bailing the bastards out after they made millions - they should not make a penny above a million. Let them live without for a while.

"Oh no, we're all doomed..."

Shiny! Let's be bad guys!

I saw a guy on the NBC evening news yesterday with an EXCELLANT idea,

GIVE ALL 355 Million Americans a million dollars each, and let us get us out of this mess. And we would save $245 billion!!!!

GREAT IDEA!!!

(I can hear the nay sayers(Wall street)now,....but that won't give US the money we need to continue to screw YOU out of it.

sorry for the rant, I am SO tired of this mess and the previous messes, how can the gov. even think we can continue to bail out everybody, first auto dealers, then loan companies, now banks...who next Taco Bell?????

http://news.yahoo.com/s/livescience/howmuchis700billion

" You have to turn to much bigger initiatives, like war and defense, to get beyond this chump change and approach the bailout figure.

From 2003 through the end of fiscal year 2009, Congress has appropriated $606 billion for military operations and other activities associated with the war in Iraq, according to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO). The entire military budget for fiscal 2008 is $481.4 billion.

Social Security is a $608 billion annual program.

Many analysts fear the bailout because the cost must ultimately be borne by taxpayers.

Based on the U.S. Census Bureau's estimate of the current population of about 305 million people, each person would have to pay $2,300 to fund the $700,000,000,000. If each American (including children) paid a dollar a day, it would take more than six years to pay the money in full. One might argue, however, that this $700 billion would be a modest splash in the bucket of national debt, which already stands at well over $9 trillion (which means you already owe $31,642 each). "

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Well , a million bucks apiece won't work...

Remember , whatever phony FED notes are put up for this 'bailout' , will actually be funded by foreign lenders ,
and added to the national debt...

The only way out is to turn back to 'Lawful Money' , not any more Federal 'Reserve' Notes...

http://www.investopedia.com/terms/l/lawfulmoney.asp

Which would you really rather have , rectangles of cotton rag 'paper' , or a Shiny GOLD or SILVER Coin ?

I'm pretty sure that was Russell Crowe when he was on Jay Leno; at least he used the same joke. A joke worthy of a wry laugh, but people believing math skills like that have to be one of the reasons we're in this mess. The math is off by a couple of orders of magnitude.

Well, Russell wasn't looking himself the other night. He's sporting some long hair and has porked up a LOT for the movie he just did....but he did say this. I doubt he's the only one to say it; I could easily see a news commentator screwing up the math as well.

The problem is I get the point...but the math still doesn't work. One million times 355 million is $355 *TRILLION*. Not so much of a savings.

Now, in Russell's defense: he's not American and much of the rest of the world uses the word "billion" to mean what we in the USA call "trillion".

Yes I saw Russell on Jay, I love how You were not in the room with me,...but your telling what I saw and heard,..rich, real rich.

Re: money.....next time I will label it a 'joke' so you get it, I REPEATED what I hear, yes I know the math isn't right, but I would rather give US the money instead of them.

Take a deep breath,
God, some peoples kids.
