Lol, I'll see if I can edit the pic and post it up here. I still have that fear of "omg my face on teh internets!" but I should give you guys at least a brief veiw of the costume

Rugbug, looks like pretty good stats there. What brand is the laptop? It's the small items that you don't get to choose (the motherboard, the heatsink, the over all construction, etc) that differ brand to brand that typically determine if it's a piece of junk or not. At the very least, it doesn't look like you got a laptop from the 1990s.

It's a Toshiba. I'm sitting here cringing because I bought it from Circuit City...the king of the rip-offs, so I will wait for the 'OMG, it is a piece of junk.'

I did an internet search and I paid what all the other sellers were asking ($579), so hopefully it won't be too bad. I went in to look at the Acer that as $499, but it was 3G RAM and 250GB harddrive... I think anything would be better than something like my mother's Dell, that is incredibly slow. I'm not sure what she's done to it, but it takes about 10 minutes to open one webpage on DSL.

Ok, so this is only going to be up for a short time.

This is the only pic I have so far unfortunately. The wig I'm wearing (I'm blonde, really) goes almost all the way to the floor. I'm wearing a blue and black chiffon skirt that goes to the floor too (matches the top), and two layers of belly dance belts that made lots of noise. I made or modified everything I'm wearing except the earrings and the bracelets. I'm also making kind of an odd face in that pic, lol.

Eh, Toshiba should actually hold up pretty well. Dells are my favorite, though you really have to reinstall because of all the extra software they come with, and they're way heavier than they need to be, at least when it comes to desktops. And I try to buy everything from Circuit City when I can, because they have the best return policy in my experience. It's been completely hassle free every time, unlike Best Buy.

Hubba, hubba, Ms CK. I'm sure your mormon father was a bit shocked. ;) You look great.

I'm glad you didn't condemn the Toshiba (or circuit city. ;) I actually bought my iPod from Circuit City as well. It was the same price as everywhere but Costco, so.... They are ridiculously priced on things like DVDs, though. Absolutely ridiculous.

I'm not too excited about any of the tagalong trial software that comes with the computer. I will be taking most of it off. I got a 'subscription' for Microsoft office (you pay $20 year) and will download mozilla. I should be fine with that..I think.

I think you missed your calling CK. I know a place you could waitress at

I had a friend that used Toshiba laptops a lot before switching to mac. He liked them pretty well at the time. The only problem with Circuit City is they are looking like they're going out of business. They're at least getting ready to close a bunch of stores. I can't imagine that's going to reinvigorate them. Hopefully there won't be any problems though.

Lol Zeek thanks! Hehe. I actually considered dressing up as a Bone Daddy's girl for Halloween one year (in their every day uniforms, not their Halloween costumes ), back when I worked with a bunch of people who went there frequently, but I couldn't work up the nerve at the time. Now no one would get it, heh.

They might not get it, but I'm sure there is a large portion of the population that would still appreciate it. ;)

I get too self-conscious....even on Halloween...to show-off skin. I'd also have to get a spray tan. Heh. The arms may be tan...but the tummy is white, white, white.

I was watching an old Episode of Friends (season 2, sometime in the 90s) and Chandler was excited about his 120MB RAM, some other oustandingly low MB harddrive, state-of-the-art laptop. Sucker looked like a an old-skool game of Battleship. ;D. I instantly felt better about my purchase.

lol I love it. Presentation to management about how screwed we are next year and he's like "well they'll probably want to outsource you to get 2 people for the price of 1". Um...great. Thanks for that.

Thanks MsB! I find I actually put off women far more than men. I was talking to my youngest sister about this the other day (she wants to get into my industry too) and I realized that I've spent years mimicking male body language, and it's really helped me in working with so many men (still sitting at 90% male industry). The way men make eye contact, smile or don't, how far apart they stand to each other, etc., is all very different from how women interact.

But I've gotten so good at it that I come off cold to a lot of women I think. I've been taking American Tribal Style belly dance classes for a couple of months now, which is all women and very physical, of course. So before each class I have to psych myself up to get into "girl" body language, and constantly remind myself during class about making eye contact and smiling and everything.

A guy I worked with at that consulting job over the summer said one day that I'm not really a girl, I just look like one. I've got the shoes and the hair, but it's all just a ruse. I've always been a tomboy, and I think that vibe makes it easier to get along with me, at least when I'm not wearing huge fake eyelashes. At least I think it has -- so far I've gotten good results.
