One thing never sat well w/ me is how Mingo and Fanty changed their deal w/ Mal AFTER the job was done. Their " excuse " or claim that Mal " ran when he should fight and fought when he should deal " didn't make any sense.

There were REAVERS! WTF was he suppose to do ? Try to negotiate ? That they got ANYTHING should be a credit to Mal,and they should have forked over an extra 15% to HIM, not t'other way around. Reaver attacke was the perfect cover for their heist. No witnesses. ( Well, there were some in the safe, but they had bigger problems )

Oh, also.... during the scene at beginning, inside Serenity, just AFTER Mal gets " innoced ". Simon and Mal step out of the infermary, and they're talking, facing each other. Only Simon isn't looking at Mal, he's looking over Mal's right shoulder. If you have the DVD, check it out. That always bugged me.

Fanty & Mingo in BDM did the same thing as Badger in Pilot. Badger specified the job (possibly knowing it was Alliance stamped on every molecule), had them do it, then didn't pay. F&M also specified the job, knowing it was in reaver territory, and also wanting to negotiate on the back-end. Similar but to less degree was on Safe, the Grange boys wanting to change the agreed upon price (Mal knew in advance what they would settle on) after the smuggling was done.
Let's not forget Patience.
F&M blathering about fighting/running is in reference to Mal's unpredictable ways, and how that makes businessmen like F&M a bit twitchy - they prefer predictability - a might like the genius behavior control experts on Miranda. Check the deleted(extended?) scene or the script for context and their whole exchange.
