Crap.

OKay, and I've just got to say this to get it off my chest...

I haven't watched last night's episode of Dollhouse yet. Hell, I haven't watched last WEEK's ep yet - I'm saving them up so I can run a mini-marathon of them to see if that will get me more into the mental state to stay in that world a while.

But the synopsis I saw on the DVR for last night's ep sounds really, REALLY cheesy. Echo becomes a backup singer in order to protect a rock star. I'm sorry, but that sounds like "must-miss TV" to me.

Sorry, Joss; I love ya, man, but so far this show just ain't anywhere I want to be.

BECAUSE IT'S JOSS, and for no other reason - okay, I lied; because it's Eliza as well - I'm trying my damnedest to give it a solid chance, but they're sure as hell not making it easy.

And that makes me sad. More Jossiness on the tube should always be a good thing.

Mike

If you're going to assume anything, assume you're wrong.

Granted, it does sound really *really* cheesy. Good think Echo reinvents the mission parameters in a brilliant and effective way! It's the subtleties in this episode that make it worth watching, the comedic lines, the significant glances and the plot twists. There's more depth in this episode than you'd think, and I think this even more so now that I watched "Stage Fright" a second time today.

The surface is shallow, cheesy, vapid, and I think that's what Joss intends for the surface, ironically enough. That's what a lot of today's cultural stereotypes try to portray, but that's not the whole picture of course. Thinking that shallowness is *all* there is to these women (and men)... is where one can make a mistake. Deeper undercurrents certainly become clearer in this episode, so I hope you'll invest some time! :)

Terminator and Dollhouse may have average to low ratings, but both shows are in the top 20 shows watched and/or download online! These numbers aren't as bad as they seem.

I'd given some thought to movin' off the edge -- not an ideal location -- thinkin' a place in the middle.
