For those of you who watched it...How was it? good? bad? palatable? I'm curious to know...we will not get it here for a while...or at all if it bombs. though hopefully it won't as Mr F has been doing a marvelous Job of promoting/pimping it. Incidentally three people I know are new Firefly devotees as a result of his time on the VIew. I may have helped to direct them Eg: One friend- "Oh my God this seriously hot and funny guy was on "the view" wasn't he on Desperate Housewives? my response: " Ah yeah....but hey I can lend you a DVD of something else he did". Friend a few days later: " I'm soooo in love with Firefly where can I get season 2?" Me: Well actually there was no season 2 but there was a movie and some comics...and there are some fab websites etc. etc.

Nice job on the conversion!

And Castle is pretty good. It's not a complicated show, a bit fluffy, really, even though it deals with murder mystery. But the entertainment value is there and it accomplishes what it sets out to do.

I'm looking forward to next week.

Bytemite,

You forgot to mention Nathan is fantastic in it. Or maybe that was a given.

The more people see of our Big Darn Heroes, the more they want to see of our Big Darn Heroes...which leads them back to Firefly/Serenity.

OOOH! Ta for the feedback...there's nothing wrong with fluffy, it can be entertaining, and it tends to last longer, so there is a hope I may actually get to see it and it won't bomb. Phew! And of course Nathan is good in it, he gets to be a naughty boy and kind of a Dick...ironically for someone who is said to be sooo nice, he does this very well. Mind you his Bad characters are always strangely endearing.

I'm in England, so can't watch on TV either, but I downloaded it and it was awesome!
Nathan gets most of the comedic value lines .. && thats always a good thing. (:

LETOV

Castle made me down right furious. How dare they put it opposite Medium, currently my favorite weekly show on TV, and make it so damn good?

I missed it last week because I hadn't realized it was on so I picked it up online. I was shocked. Based on what little I knew about it I thought our captain would be the only thing I would like about it. I'm not in to procedurals as a rule, unless they have some really interesting character-driven aspects.
Castle totally delivered. He's a very likeable character even being a bit of a womanizer. Its quickly balanced by introducing his ex-wife, daughter and mother. I absolutely love his relationship with his mother and daughter. The on-screen chemistry really clicked. I won't get into the mystery, which was ok, because the characters and witty banter are what really made the episode great.

This medium-castle conflict is definitely what DVR's were made for. I don't have one but this makes me want one. I really didn't want another show to follow, but the first episode definitly hooked me.

Oh the pilot was good. Very good. It asked a great deal of our Captain and he delivered perfectly. It's a solid premise, tapping into the very successful Bones/Boothe dynamic and to a lesser extent the Scully/Mulder pairing and having a weekly mystery which while 'old school' if done with enough flair and charm should be able to sustain the show.

I think Castle is refreshing. It's not trying to change the face of TV like LOST, 24, or Fringe. And there is something to be said for that. If the characters remain strong and engaging then the more regular 'cliche' format is easier to endure.

Sometimes as with BUFFY seasons 1,2,&3 it's just nice to be entertained.

Nathan is such a natural comedian. He dead-pans it with the best of 'em.

Castle looks like a good show so far. Not great. But good. Nathan is great, of course.
