Actually -- and I know this is a surprise, lol -- I would advise against seeing it at all, especially if you think the pregnancy hormones will make you more sensitive to stuff like dogs getting hurt. A lot of people get hurt in the movie, and not only big bad guys. If you do see it, you should definitely skip the entire sequence that includes the dogs (Zeek -- remember what the dogs are doing when we first see them?). I don't remember what came right before that so you'll know when to step out. Zeek, any thoughts on how she can recognize that sequence before it actually plays out?

Oh! And I just realized I totally forgot to comment on how horrible the music direction was. It was the worst use of music I've seen in any filmed anything, ever. Seriously, I've seen YouTube videos of puppies with much better use of music than this movie. The music totally took me out of the movie multiple times, and had me thinking "what the fuck? why are they playing that??" more than once.

Next time I go up to the city for work I may have to look that guy up just so I can go kick him in the shins. He needs to be kicked in the shins repeatedly, and blackballed from movies (and TV, games, soup commercials, and YouTube).

I did actually like the opening credits, I thought those were awesomely done, including the music. Unfortunately it was all down hill from there.

The get killed but you don't see them get killed. Later their dead bodies are thrown through windows to scare a bad guy. They aren't all gruesome or anything from what I remember.

It's pretty tough to identify that scene without giving a lot away IMO. You'd pretty much have to say "he's telling the story about the thing you're not supposed to see". Depends on how spoiler free MsA likes to be.

Yeah, "bad things happening to kids and animals" is pretty much the name of that scene. If Zeek or Zero can give you clues as to when to leave the theater and how long to stay out, listen to them. Otherwise I'd say just skip it entirely (but obviously I've made my opinions pretty clear already, lol).

Actually I told one of my friends to skip it and she's far from feint of heart. Well to add to this, I typically have fairly male tastes in entertainment. 300 is one of my all time favorite movies, I'd rather watch UFC than something fashion/home/celebrity oriented, and I do make video games for a living after all, lol. There was a list on Digg not too long ago with the top 10 most anticipated guy movies of 2009, and I'm crazy excited about all of them. But I still hated Watchmen, and so did my husband, to whom all of the above also applies, but is also, you know, an actual guy. I also have a couple of girlfriends in the game industry who loved Watchmen, so go figure.

Gone all day and look what happens. Not reading too much but I kinda guessed they stylized violence and hype couldn't cover for an abridged story and lack of better planning.

Then again I loved Sin City even after hearing it would be crap simply because of the same things.

The book was already pretty violent itself. Did they amp it up a bit for the film, yeah, but not much though. Some scenes I'd say they toned it down.

And as for the story, it's pretty much all there, though changed in spots. I'd have to say that this was one of the most faithful adaptations of a graphic novel I've ever seen. Some of the shots look as though they were lifted directly from panels of the book.

Well that certainly didn't win it any female fans I'm sure, but I'm not sure that guys should value that in their entertainment either. I guess that' sone of the things I liked about both Sin City and 300 -- the women were definitely sexy, but still strong and interesting characters in their own right. And I don't think that stopped either from being "guy" movies.

I didn't see the preview (didn't run with Watchmen when I saw it, wonder why that was), but I'm both excited about it and worried about it. I really liked Terminator 3, and The Sarah Connor Chronicles continues to really really impress me (especially when it comes to the AI and robotics stuff, and this is coming from someone who has worked on cutting-edge DARPA funded AI), so I'm actually kind of worried that it won't live up. It's Christian Bale, so I can't see how it'll possibly suck, but I'm still worried.

Some women in the film were viewed as sex objects, but also much more than that, that's just one part of the character. IMO, the only woman to be viewed as a sex object was Sally Jupiter (Laurie's mom), who chose to be viewed that way. True, Laurie took part in the biggest sex scene in the movie, but other than those times I never really got the feeling she was being viewed as something for sex.

Dr. Manhattan's reasoning for leaving his last girlfriend for Laurie was more than just because she was younger, I believe his line in the film was something like "She was getting noticeably older, while I stayed the same". He flet her moving along, while it felt like he was standing still, given time I think he would've done the same to Laurie.

As for the action, there wasn't really all that much, not enough to be classified as a "guy movie". I say it like that because I don't really like the sterotypes like "guy movie" or "chick flick".

Yeah it didn't even work well for guys I don't think. I mean we were literally laughing at the absurdity at some points.

In the end it's a movie I don't think I'll ever recommend to anyone, but for some people I'd say "yeah go see for yourself".

And ugh you like Sarah Conner Chronicles CK? I can't stand it. I guess I just can't get past some of the suspension of disbelief. Like "oh cameron was in an explosion that altered her programming." What now? You're telling me the bits were altered and just magically ended up in a configuration that was not only a running program but an extremely sophisticated one? And then how did they fix it? John scraped a chip with a screwdriver and shoved it back in. Darn annoying code dust getting in the way. Come on!

In the first Season Sarah always tried to do her "badass voice over" junk that drove me nuts too. "Chess is a game of total annihilation". Since effing when? It's in fact a game where you trap the king and don't even kill him much less all the rest of the pieces. Eff you crappy writers!!!

There's way too much time travel going on in the show too. In the movies it feels like time travel is difficult or expensive. Something that can only be used for the most important of tasks. In the show they're sending terminators back for all sorts of little tasks. If they can send that many back then how is John not dead yet? Especially with the level of detail these terminators have. They come back through time looking like some nobody who apparently they know where they worked and what they looked like. In the original terminator all arnold had a was a name and he had to go through a phone book to find Sarah. wtf changed?

Bah I've ranted about that show a lot. I gave up on it mid-season 2. I sorta hope it dies so Summer can go find something better to work on.

Quiet weekend huh?

Well my team won TX trivia lol My contribution was alerting the host when she forgot to deduct points from other teams when they got answers wrong. We only got 1 negative point but we got way more answers wrong than that

However, the weekend took a downturn Sunday when my kitty got all sick. She threw up 5 times before noon. She started getting a little more active by the end of the day and this morning I saw her actually eat a little. So, I thought she was on the mend til she just threw up a little while ago.

As soon as I get a break from work I'm going to call the vet and see if I can run her in.

Thanks but everything sounds pretty bad. My mom, who's a nurse, and my aunt, who's a vet lab tech, both looked at the blood workup and they say it's kidney failure. There are even some things in there that point away from infection being the problem. I'll wait the couple days for lab results but if it's her kidneys I think I'll just let her go peacefully rather than try to keep her alive with pills and needles.
