I always wanted to cover Devil Went Down to Georgia...metalstyle.

We did cover Ring of Fire too, but I'm not sure if we did it before or after Social Distortion did, I'm sorta thinking before. When we did do covers we did some weird ones, Mozart's 25th Symphony in G Minor sorta shocked people at first. Hehehe.

Mozart? Now theres a new one...

The Mechanicas ("The greatest fake band sence spinal tap") a band that was thrown together for a school play, plans to cover "Don't cry for me Argentina," (from Evita) later this year. That should be interesting.

edit- how about a cover of johnny cash's cover of nine inch nail's "hurt"? that's right, a cover of a cover. man, i am bringing this band places!

Wow, all those clanky mugs look like an optical ilusian. You can look at it, but you can't look right at it, and if you let your eyes go out of focus it gets even more like "ahh! Too many clanky mugs!"

Okay, looks to me like we don't have nearly enough backup vocals - and that's something I do well, so here I am! I can swap into lead vocals (if Howdy needs a break), and otherwise stand near that hottie Static singing backs and shaking my tambourine.

Can I be in the band? Can I, huh? Can I?

Everybody play an E note, Howdy sings out "Its the shortest song in thw world!"

Then wren comes in with the triangle.

The end. Hows that?

Membership is open to anyone regardless of astrological sign, favourite mac'n'cheeze addition, plane of being currently inhabited, or membership in the human race. Oh, ya know, if those positions are filled, I could work on costumes. Don't make faces. I am envisioning cool, dark (figuratively), asian-inspired outfits for the bandmembers. I live in Manhattan, so I could just shoot on down to Chinatown and pick up some shiny stuff to wear. BTW, I bought a really beautiful traditional chinese silk jacket last week (think Kaylee's green jacket in Serentiy but mine is silver and purple and more fitted). How sad is it that I am already planning my outfit for the BD premier?

Just a thought, but shouldn't we (okay, I've already made the leap to assuming I'm in the band) have some people doing a joyous jig (a la River in Safe) sometime during the performance? I am NOT volunteering, mind you. This good little irish girl never learned to jig, much to the dismay of my grandmother. So, KGB, is my vision way off?

NO it’s not, cause I’ve been thinking the same thing. I would love a kaylee-like dress and love the idea of a BD premier and vote Atlanta GA. Our Mistress of Communication-Harems ~A~ lives there. O.K so do I, but that's not the point. Astriana’s VERY influential

Now on the band issue, going for the fanatic fan.

ok, as the prima donna rock star here, i've decided that its time for me to have a torrid and definitely ill-fated affair. i just need to decide with who. feel free to suggest, or volunteer, but keep in mind that this will probably end in a quickie-style marriage in vegas among lots of booze and reckless gambling and then an even more quickie-style divorce. maybe some other quickie stuff in between.

BUMP!

I will not let this band die before it has even started!

as to some comments WAY WAY WAY up there. Covers are great when they aren't exact copies as long as they don't take away from the integrity of the song.

example for a good cover:

Johnny Cash's cover for the Nine Inch Nails song Hurt

example for a bad cover:

Joss Stones cover for the White Stripes Fell in love with a ...boy...cough cough... excuse me GIRL.

If you have to change the gender of the person the song is about, as well as slow it down from like 160 time to 60...then just back away from the music stand and run away as fast as possible.
