book clubs are good for that. we don't have any around here, or in my hometown that i know of. my mom just took me to the library a lot when i was a kid :P i read the back cover and the first few pages. if i feel like i can read more, i buy it.

In Milwaukee, each library sponsers a book club. There are only eight regulars and most are retired and female. So I don't have to much in common with them, but every once in a while one of them suggests a really great book. I will never forget "Memories of Running". One of the best pieces of fiction I have ever read. It reminds me of the Odyssey. Not that it is based on that story, it just has that theme of misadventures during an unexpected journey.

Thanks for the virtual tea, FLT. I really hate being sick.

On the plus side, I don't have class on Monday because of construction nearby the school. Woot!

They're widening the road, so they have to turn off the water to the campus. But it'll probably be the one day off for all the months they'll be working on the project.

Yeah, I'll probably be better by then. Although I'd prefer to be better even sooner than that, because a friend is in town on her Spring Break and I really want us to hang out.

A factoid of which I am most definitely aware. Willy was said to have coined something in the neighborhood of ten thousand words. As an arrogant young lad of fourteen I set the goal of beating that mark. I lost count after a while though so I have no idea how close to my mark I am.

Also Shakespeare did it in iambic pentameter.

I suspect Skakespeare wrote for the common people of his time. Using slang words that may have been in their own speech. I always think of Midsummersnight Dream, where a common villager had a major roll in the play. Also having Henry V having friends like Falstaff.

"If an infinite number of parents, meddling in the lives of an infinite number of teenagers, knocked an infinite number of times on an infinite number of bedroom doors, they would eventually produce the complete works of Shakespeare....in Morse code."

Y'all know what I'm gettin' at. As far as poetry, if I have to restrict myself to meter, I'm partial to anapestic. If not....well, I love Ogden Nash's style - doesn't matter how long the sentence gets as long as it rhymes.

As for the weather changing, it changed just a tad earlier than I'd like this year but I'm still bracing myself for one last blizzard. :P
