Worth it. Good plots, awesome telling, and Harry is my kinda guy. I'd surely have him come by the pub for beers.

I seem to remember someone asking about my avatar a while ago, can't remember who but here it is. My avatar is the NERV logo from Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Everyone must read Dresden... if you want Avery I'll loan you my books on cd for books 2-4. HUGS Really though it's not like you have to read them completely in order. If didn't thrill you try 3 it's really where things get going and it becomes amazing!

Waiting for the mail.... it shall bring my Dresden book

I'm finally home:) Gonna get some rest now

Yeah book 2 is not really crucial in any way ... I say skip it. 3rd one is much better:0 HUGS

Avery this is for you.... super simple pasta sauce
2 tbs olive oil
1tsp crushed red pepper flakes
2 tsp chopped garlic
2 cans fire roasted tomatos with garlic ( I prefer Muir organic)
1 can tomato sauce
3 tbs each fresh or dried basil, oregano,
1 tsp thyme
2 tbs salt

In a pan heat olive oil. Add crushed red pepper and let it pop ( about 1 min) add garlic and saute until light brown. Add everything else and turn down heat to simmer for 30 min. serve
You can vary it up by sauteing meats and veg and tossing with pasta , but that's a basic red sauce:)

Well, granted, I can't *force* you to lurk visibly, but I could carry on a conversation between me and what I imagine to be you. And, whooo-boy, you may not want that... XD

And consider: What if I *do* want you to? =P

For a start, that depends on what your imagined version of me is like (I'm guessing more chatty in a Deadpool kind of way). As for if you *do* want me to... I could ask what's in it for me, but I doubt I'd even get partway into asking before I got lynched/defenestrated/something painful.

New Dresden files? Yay, it's been a while since there was a new novel, although the novella and the anthology containing a short story were nice to tide me over. Only question is, will we get it here today, or will I be faced with a repeat of Small Favour, where we Antipodeans had to wait weeks (months?) to get it in the stores here?

...and if I may enter the pasta sauce discussion, I'm more of a carbonara(sp?) type

Just for you Nico:)
1 pound dry spaghetti
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
4 ounces pancetta or slab bacon, cubed or sliced into small strips
4 garlic cloves, finely chopped
2 large eggs
1 cup freshly grated Parmigiano-Reggiano, plus more for serving
Freshly ground black pepper
1 handful fresh flat-leaf parsley, chopped
Directions
Prepare the sauce while the pasta is cooking to ensure that the spaghetti will be hot and ready when the sauce is finished; it is very important that the pasta is hot when adding the egg mixture, so that the heat of the pasta cooks the raw eggs in the sauce.

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil, add the pasta and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until tender yet firm (as they say in Italian "al dente.") Drain the pasta well, reserving 1/2 cup of the starchy cooking water to use in the sauce if you wish.

Meanwhile, heat the olive oil in a deep skillet over medium flame. Add the pancetta and saute for about 3 minutes, until the bacon is crisp and the fat is rendered. Toss the garlic into the fat and saute for less than 1 minute to soften.

Add the hot, drained spaghetti to the pan and toss for 2 minutes to coat the strands in the bacon fat. Beat the eggs and Parmesan together in a mixing bowl, stirring well to prevent lumps. Remove the pan from the heat and pour the egg/cheese mixture into the pasta, whisking quickly until the eggs thicken, but do not scramble (this is done off the heat to ensure this does not happen.) Thin out the sauce with a bit of the reserved pasta water, until it reaches desired consistency. Season the carbonara with several turns of freshly ground black pepper and taste for salt. Mound the spaghetti carbonara into warm serving bowls and garnish with chopped parsley. Pass more cheese around the table.

I'm semi-irreplaceable? That's better than being a disposable minion at least.

While I prefer the artery clogging egg/cream sauces with pasta, I take my pizza with lots of meat (sometimes think the Domino's Eight Meats pizza was designed for me specifically).

Given that I did start re-reading Small Favour yesterday, the bookstore has until I finish reading it before they will feel my wrath, should Turn Coat not be available (so, until sometime after lunch today). According to their website, any online orders will ship in 1-6 weeks, but doesn't specify if the book is actually available yet or not... how hard could an 'in-store/not yet available' widget be to make?

I'm guessing the need for a cook denotes that you and Beth are no longer a combined entity.. which means I may be serving two potentially conflicting genius's (genii? what's the plural?).

Cellar in case you want it... super easy pesto

1 clove garlic chopped
2 handsful basil (fresh)
1 handful pinenuts or walnuts
juice of one lemon
1 tsp salt
1/2 c parmesan cheese
olive oil

Put garlic, basil, and pinenuts in blender and pulse. Then add lemon juice, salt, and parmesan, pulse a bit more, turn blender on medium and stream in olive oil until it's about the right consistency ( about the same texture of a good smoothie)

Fffft.

I think it was 3-3.5hrs from here to Cali, then another 18hrs to Sydney. Stupid lack of instant site-to-site transport...! Air New Zealand was pretty awesome, though.... I've been meaning to get back there, though. Such a lovely place. [nostalgia]

NICODEMUS

*gets thrown out of the hammock by all the slamming and stomping*

Well, I suppose I should make some effort at looking awake, given it's lunch-ish. Hopefully the state manager won't have had too much of a rant on his visit today, but I guess I'll find out when I get to work tonight.

MsA, you can talk about Dresden to me as much as you want, just don't expect any intelligible replies (since I haven't got it yet).

*finds a dark corner to sit in and consume vast quantities of food and tea*
