Jeeze, so I'm back for just over one thread and I'm already taking the mandate into my own hands to start a new one.

As for the thread title, it seems fitting (if delayed), and it'll please the Halo people (unless I got the name of the level wrong).

*lines up all the drinks and food that people have been craving, but haven't asked for (due to being too afraid/ashamed to ask, or because they didn't know they wanted them).*

Do not make me slap you...finish the Dresden.... It might be over, but then we can talk of it endlessly:) LOL

Apparently there's a church in the area that has it's members trek t the cemetary and wave potted palms in the air and sing... not sure what the end goal is....but if they raise zombies I'm gonna be pissed

Scary thing is I can sort of follow the train of thought on that palm singing thing.

Palm fronds to welcome the king back to the new jerusalem, singing to the recently deceased to wave them on to the kingdom of heaven as the saviour is returned to lead them home, "hosanna hey sanna sanna sanna ho".

If I'm right do I get a sundae?

Tribbles are fictional animals in the Star Trek universe. They are depicted as small, soft, and gentle, and as producing a soothing purring sound. These traits are said to endear them to most sentient races which encounter them, with the notable exception of Klingons, who consider tribbles to be "mortal enemies" of the Klingon Empire, as stated in the Deep Space Nine episode "Trials and Tribble-ations."

According to Leonard McCoy's dialogue their only two purposes in life appear to be to eat and to reproduce, and they perform both of these functions well. McCoy concludes that tribbles use over fifty percent of their metabolism for reproduction and that they are born pregnant.

Nic: Those Tribbles look so cute! I wants one.
Kel: Daughters do that, I should know. Until I was 10, if anything happened during the night, I'd appear next to my dad's side of the bed, and say "Hiya Dad, its me, Anna." As if it'd be anyone else!

HUGs Kelkhil... it could have been worse. She could have been armed with a puppy. I say this because that's how I introduced my dad to our newly purchased puppy ( I was 5) and I had waited as long as I could> He'd gotten home late the night before from a business trip and that next morning at 6 am I came running into the bedroom yelled " look what we got daddy" and launched the new dog right onto him..

"Not the comfy chair!"

Just had another day of "let's see how short handed we can get because somebody doesn't want to hang around and work and then nobody's willing to stay and help the late people when we get behinder and behinder." Plus manager is still completely failing to back the RNs up and then telling us we need to be more assertive in making requests of our coworkers when they're not doing what they should be. Short of getting into screaming matches in the middle of the clinic there's not much either of us feels we can do, and even that wouldn't accomplish anything because she doesn't DO anything when you bring it to her.
Plus the main problem child screwed up, so now I have to fill out paperwork on it. If she'd just stayed focused long enough to PICK THE FUCKING BOTTLE OF MEDS UP AND BRING IT IN THE ROOM WITH HER AND GIVE IT TO THE PATIENT like she'd documented she had we wouldn't have a problem. One of the other nurses pointed to a bottle of pills at the nurses' station and said "what's that?". Nurse who blew it had already left for an impromptu dentist appointment.

(Groan of agony as I saw Medication Error reporting form headed my way. No, patient denies having received med. Patient returned to clinic and got med from ME. Paper flurry will ensue tomorrow.)
This was on top of the fiasco on Wednesday. Don't ask.

M*F* Sonofa #$^!#$&****!!!

I really hope she doesn't come back in to work tomorrow.

Plus, I'm the only early nurse.. lucky me.. until around 9am. We'll see how much I can get done before people show up.

Well, now that you started it, I can't wait. XD

I'll start with my grievances, which aren't spoilery. Now, I understand the need for preliminary exposition. Really, I do. It introduces first time readers to the world of Harry Dresden, rehashing and re-explaining things that are common, necessary to understanding, and have happened before. It's done in a lot of mediums. But this is what... the 11th book? I'd like to see the stats on how many new readers actually pick up the newly released books instead of finding the first books, especially once the series is into double digits. I have to imagine it's a reasonably significant downward trend, which leads me to wonder just how necessary continuous exposition is as a series of novels gets larger and larger.

But fine, whatever, explain away. Tell me who all these people are and what all these things are over and over again to sate your delusions of significant numbers of new readers never before exposed to the series. But why in fuck's name does Butcher have to explain things more than once in any given book?? It's not as if a new reader is going to pick up the new book and start at chapter 14!! WTF??? And, no matter what hallucinations occur when he thinks this shit up, it's not *actually* a TV show where a new viewer might flip the channel after a commercial break, therefor needing explanation of what happened in the previous 15 minutes of air time. Dooooood. *Seriously*. Fuckin' stop with the addled brained explanations of shit you already covered a couple chapters back...!

>.>

<.<

>.>

Um.

Other than that... I enjoyed it.
I'll write you back with my actuall opinions when I get home. XD

If he gets writer's block (1) he's not a writer and (2) he could always just re-read his other 10 novels to remind him who the characters are. =P

Of course, maybe he does that continuously repeated exposition cuz he figures we're all a bunch of unfocused mental deficients with the attention span of a
