A friend of mine prodded and bothered and poked me to watch Firefly, and I just never found time to do it. Then I found the 4-DVD set at Borders on sale for $25, so I decided to check it out. I just finished Jaynestown (Saying this so no one spoils me D:), and WOW. This show is so awesome. I have always been a fan of westerns and any "serious" type shows that have a good bit of humour in them. This show is like a combination of all the things I like in TV. I rarely watch TV, but I find myself going "Why the heck is this not still on?"

Anyway, found this site through a Google search, and I look forward to poking around, seeing what's here, and hopefully meeting some groovy people.

I saw that Ron Glass is gonna be at DragonCon this year (I live just outside Atlanta), which looks awesome. Never been to DragonCon before - didn't realize it was so expensive @_@ Saw a few video clips from the Firefly panel from last year, and Wow. It's so cool when a group does something like that for its fans. Does stuff like that happen often with this crew?

Okay, I think that's enough from me. Gonna go down a Full Throttle and call it a night. Cheers!

Chi

I have made it to the last three DragonCons. I've loved them.

Oh, and I like the Beatles, too.

You're up to Jaynestown and love the show - I expect you'll be giddy and blown away with the next 3, which many vote as their favorites. After Serenity The Big Damn Movie the first part of the series I saw was the end of Ariel, and I was stunned, had to have me some more.
Welcome aboard, enjoy the shiny show.
Remember to watch for the Can't Stop The Serenity screenings in Cinemas in the next few months.

BEATLESFAN welcome aboard!!

If Jaynestown is where you’ve left off, then without spoiling anything I would say that you’ve got a “Ton of more Joy” left to watch. I’ve been a member here for over 3 years and that’s a short time compared to many other browncoats.

A lot fans are keeping up with the actors from Firefly/Serenity and you know they are really good in their other shows as well. These actors are professional through and through , a joy to watch.

Glad that you’ve joined up, see ya, Z

Cheers for all the welcomes. All I've seen so far is the first 2 disks of the show. I didn't even know there was a movie until my eBay addiction got the better of me and I started browsing. I look forward to finishing the series and, of course, ordering the movie.

I'll have to start a "Firefly Journal" and do a quick recap to this point before I embark forward. I don't think I mentioned before, but while it's a ridiculously close race, I have been able to narrow down my favourites to Kaylee and Simon. Simon seems like the most original character (at least in genres I watch), and Kaylee is just adorable. Well, that and I'm still recovering from the moment I first saw her and went, "Holy cow it's Catalina from Space Cases!! WHOA!"

I look forward to all the "goodies" that are included on the box set as well as finishing the series so can go see all the fan vids and such online. I have trouble researching this because there are spoilers EVERYWHERE.

My favourite Beatles song: Eleanor Rigby. My favourite Beatle-related song: Cheer Down.

...Someone other than me that knows "Cheer Down." I think I'm gonna like this place.

I'll try to stretch it out, then. And my wallet D: There's so much cool Firefly stuff @_@ Lookin' at the Big Damn Heroes picture set, and that Official Mal Pistol is mighty inviting.

The pistol is high on my wish list too.

*passes Beatlesfan a virtual Browncoat that I found hanging in the closet* Whew it's dusty in there. Guess it's time to break out the allergy medicine. *sneezes loudly*

There's also a fan film that's shooting now in the Washington, D.C. area. Although it doesn't involve the crew of Serenity, it's set in the same 'verse and it looks to be awesome. Check it out. www.browncoatsmovie.com

Look around your area for the local CantStopTheSerenity showing. It's Serenity on the big screen with lots of money being raised for charity, mainly Equality Now, Joss Whedon's charity of choice.

Most of the screenings are sponsored by local Browncoat groups. We don't have any official organization, we're just fans that get together, maybe have some thing to eat or even have a full blown shindig.

Hmmm, okay, have a problem that hopefully someone can help me with. I am going to attempt to finish the series rather quickly, and I'm going to attempt to spend little to no time here while I do so. Still, I'm glad I found this place since there is no one to discuss the show with outside of here (at least not in-depth. My family stops at "it was good.").

I was actually coming to this topic and the 'most recently posted in' topic title spoiled something that I would guess is fairly big. As such, I'm gonna stay out and hope I don't get anything else spoiled since the one spoiler has already been more disappointing than I want to think about. (I hate hate hate spoilers :( ).

So, my question is this: is there anywhere else to discuss/chat/talk about the series that might be a little safer? I know another forum I go to has regular Group MSN chats and such, and even one person to chat with outside of here would be cool. I'm gonna take off with this post, but if anyone can help out, please email me at Beatlesfan2222 AT aim DOT com. Or MSN me at Beatlesfan2222 AT hotmail DOT com.

Thanks

Hey, I know I'm doing something fairly dumb by both bumping an old topic AND double posting, but I wanted to clear this up and it didn't warrant its own topic.

You folks can call me "Chi" (pronounced like Kye) - it's my name, and it's a lot shorter than "Beatlesfan"

I posted a fairly short little thing here:

http://www.fireflyfans.net/mthread.asp?b=4&t=37959

At the bottom of all my episode journals.

There was so much more I could have said, but my head was still spinnin', so I decided to just rattle off what came until I was too tired to type anymore. Which makes me think that I'll be discussing this for years and years to come.

Which is fine with me.

For me that was short. Check out one of my music reviews sometime on 8th-circuit.com and you'll see that what I typed in that little Serenity review is nothin' :P

That is not a requirement for this website. I am not a Buffy or Angel fan. Luckily I dig Dollhouse. And I'm addicted to Dr. Horrible. But around here you just need to be a Browncoat. And don't let anyoneisall tell you differently.

You've probably watched Joss material before and not realized it. Roseanne, Toy Story are a couple that come to mind. Check out his IMDB page and I bet you'll realize you've been watching Whedon for a while.

Let me suggest the animated movie "Titan: AE" for your consideration, very Firefly-y.

Hmm, didn't know he did Toy Story. I seem to remember seeing the odd episode of Roseanne back when I was a kid, but I don't remember much.

bluesuncompanyman - wish I'd been back when the entire cast was there, but this'll be a good start, I suppose. The con I usually go to is a LOT smaller than Dragon*Con, and I don't wanna get overwhelmed my first time :P

I'm pretty sure Joss was involved with Disney's animated Atlantis movie too. It certainly has some moments of snappy dialogue (and it reminds me of the movie Stargate which I love).

Yeah, Titan AE is like a distant cousin to Firefly, even down to some of the Asian influences too. :)

Love the reality of the 'verse. In awe of Whedon. Wow.

Well--you can't.
